Milk doesn't do a body good.

Milk is okay if you boil it with ginger or cardamom. This breaks down the proteins that are hard to digest and reduce its mucous properties. You also should not drink milk when you eat meat or vegetables. They don't combine well.

Butter is okay, but I clarify mine first. It's not good for fat/high colesterol people.

Well I'd rather not have extra estrogen in my system. For a start it will cause bloating and a larger ammount of fat to develop. If you drank enough of it I imagine I guy could start to develop definite feminisation effects (but it would be in the order of a gallon+ a day).

Ever notice that some vegetarians have really high body fat levels with very little muscle, compared to their peers with similar lifestyles (but eat meat)? Its probably due to all the extra estrogen from the soy they eat.

I doubt that phytoestrogens could do much of anything but slightly lower your cholesterol, unless you were to take massive doses of concentrated ones via injection...

I personally would say that soy milk is fine to drink. Yes, it does contain phytoestrogens, but they are very weak and have a very hard time binding to our endogenous estrogen receptor-sites, because, well...they're for plants!

I doubt that the phytoestrogens are even absorbed, if you wanna know the truth. I've never studied them in particular, so I'm not exactly sure how they react to liver degradation, but I'm pretty sure they would get broken down as well.

Lots of menopausal women take phytoestrogens to allivate symptoms of low estrogen and seem to get good effects (I dont know about dosages though).

I dont think theres anything particularly wrong with drinking soy milk (especially if you cant eat dairy) but it all depends on your goals and its not very difficult to cut soy out of your diet.

alright, i think most people agree that milk with added hormones, antibiotics, and steroids is not exactly the best thing for you.

so, b/c of this thread, i just started buying organic milk about two weeks ago. unfortunately it costs about twice as much as non-organic, but i guess it's a small price to pay.

btw, my youngest brother was born with *galactosemia , therefore he had never been able to drink milk. he's been drinking "half and half" his whole life as a replacement for milk. years ago when soy milk became a lot more readily available, i tried to get him to start drinking it, but he doesn't like it that much. funny... but, he's not able to enjoy ANY dairy, most breads (due to whey), certain food dyes, and a whole lot of other random things.

*Classic Galactosemia is a rare genetic metabolic disorder. The child with classic galactosemia inherits a gene for galactosemia from both parents, who are carriers. Patients who inherit the classic galactosemia gene from each parent are sometimes described as having the genetic makeup "G/G". Normally when a person consumes a product that contains lactose (e.g., dairy products such as milk, cheese, butter), the body breaks the lactose down into galactose and glucose. Glucose is the sugar used by the body for energy. Galactosemia means too much galactose in the blood caused by the individual "missing" the enzyme (known as GALT) to convert galactose into glucose. This accumulation of galactose is a poison to the body and can cause serious complications such as the following and if untreated, as high as 75% of infants will die:

* an enlarged liver
* kidney failure
* cataract
* brain damage

Phytoestrogens can definitely do stuff...I have to avoid them myself, becuase I'm very sensitive to estrogen (and already have high levels)...if I eat alot of soy, I get migraines, just like when I take birth control pills. I can eat it in small amounts but I was once vegetarian and ate it daily and I definitely couldn't do that these days.

I've never studied them so I'm really not in a place to argue about them, so I'll take you guy's word for it.

Here's the general rule of thumb... If you can handle milk, drink it... if you can't or don't want to, don't...

Thats all there is to it... It has obviously not affected me AT ALL (except for the increased muscle mass due to the quality of protein found in milk), so if it has helped you, drink it, if it affects ytou negatively, don't drink it...

I agree with Motox. If you find you are being bother by allergies of some sort or something like that, look at your diet and cut out milk or dairy products entirely for a month and see how your body is without them but make sure you supplement to get calcium and vitamin d.

Another fact is you don't need milk or dairy products. Nobody needs them.

"The most wholesome cow's milk from organically raised
bovines naturally contains a powerful opiate in the morphine
family called casomorphin. Concentrated milk products
(cheese, ice cream, and milk chocolate) contain concentrated
quantities of these addictive narcotics."

WOOOOHOOOOOOO MILK HAS MORPHINE IN IT. Seriously though, shut the fuck up.

Chocolate milk heaven: ALMOND BREEZE

seriously this shit is amazing. better than any milky drink i've ever had period.

Another fact is you don't need milk or dairy products. Nobody needs them.

No other species drinks the milk of another animal..

OMGZORZ

Oh yeah, and glad to see someone obviously noticed the previous information I posted about lactose intolerance (AKA nature's way of saying WTF ARE YOU DOING HUMANS OMGOMG). Personally, I was too busy paying attention to that retard who keeps insisting this thread be closed.. but that's just me.

Im not saying this is any proven scientific evidence or anything, but my father stopped drinking milk a few years back, and he noticed that the next spring after he stopped his allergies had COMPLETELY vanished. He used to get HORRIBLE allergies every spring and he would basically be so sick he'd have to miss work and stuff. Its never come back. Could be a coincedence but he says he feels much better after not injesting any more milk.

^never ate cereal, or very rarely..

mainly- I have just cut my intake of milk down almost to nothing.

I have ate cereal... I haven't cut dairy out of my diet.. just for the most part I try to avoid it, or be aware of how much I'm taking in.

I suppliment now with coral calcium, and some really good organic magnesium suppliments, so I don't believe I'm missing out on anything.

Maybe protein.. but I eat a lot of chicken. yea yea.

My allergies have not been as bad so far as before... I'm looking foward to next spring, after I've stopped drinking the crap for over a year. I notice my friends now have worse allergies than I do... I get my days, where my head has pressure areas, but those days aren't nearly as unmanagable as they were before.fb
