My favorite cat lies upside down on my lap and licks me on the chin until I scratch her tummy. They all sleep with me, all three of them - assuming I don't have company. The biggest one sleeps on my feet. The middle-sized one sleeps on my knees. And the smallest one I hug when I go to sleep (she nuzzles in, under my arm). They are far the most affectionate animals I've ever seen.
If you had a bad cat experience that sucks.
But cats are like dogs, and kids. If you raise them well they will be beautiful.
It is, admittedly, slightly more difficult to train cats than it is dogs. I used to carry my cats around when they were kittens. I'd take them everywhere. They'd sit on my lap when I was driving the car, I'd have them on my shoulder in the supermarket (surprisingly nobody complains about this when it is a cute kitten). If you give them that much attention, then they will be absolutely awesome pets. They won't be snooty or arrogant or anything like that.
That shit comes from neglect.
Yes, I am a crazy cat person. When I was little I hated cats too because of a bad experience.
But since then I've learnt, that was just a bad cat.
Everybody loves my cats. Even people who hate cats.
(This is totally off topic. I just had to stick up for my kitties.)
