Sorry to pseudo-hijack! How did you theoretically fare with your aged solution, Cap'n?

I just chucked out the old solution and made a new one. It had been sitting around for a month or so, hence it was time to make a new one.

As for how you are experiencing cotton fever, I am not sure whatsoever. I am sorry to hear that happened to you. Maybe someone else will have a better idea.

^^ m060mm - I wonder if you could be having some sort of an immune reaction to the drug, another ingredient in your solution, or the products you are using for sterilization? It seems strange to get cotton fever so often when you are taking all these precautionary measures. Cotton fever isn't that common. Maybe it's not caused by bacteria. Have you experienced the "cotton fever" symptoms more often after you started doing all this sterilization stuff than before? (Or have you always used this procedure?)

I should have mentioned that this was all from the same solution. Mixing heroin and methylphenidate seemed like a good idea at the time.

I had plenty of shots from that solution prior to the fever. After the first fever, via the sterile solution, my memory is hazy. I think I just cooked regular dope with cotton, looking for nothing more than sedation from the agony. Thenn.. the next day. I said ok, three times in 24 hours is not happening. Went back to my 'sterile' solution and within 20 minutes I was clutching my back and neck hoping whatever was happening didn't do enough to compress important nerves.

I've always used microns and I believe I've used the particular brand before.

Quick question: is the reaction commensurate with the amount of bacteria/irritant introduced. I'm currently bleaching all the necessary pieces and I'm going to micron again because heat just sounds ridiculous. Alcohol rinse, then I was considering trying a micro dose with the hopes that if I was unsuccessful, I wouldn't be entirely miserable..

edit: Is bleach really necessary? I have 91% isopropyl. Soap and water followed by isopropyl and another micron filter? I keep reading conflicting information about bleach, residue, safe levels of exposure..

For those considering heat as a means to re-sterilize solution or otherwise avoid cotton fever:

In pharmaceutical production, it is necessary to remove all traces of endotoxin from drug product containers, as even small amounts of endotoxin will cause illness in humans. A depyrogenation oven is used for this purpose. Temperatures in excess of 300°C are required to break down this substance. A defined endotoxin reduction rate is a correlation between time and temperature. Based on primary packaging material as syringes or vials, a glass temperature of 250°C and a holding time of 30 minutes is typical to achieve a reduction of endotoxin levels by a factor of 1000.

Womp. Stock up on bleach and alcohol I guess.
