Prison isn't supposed to be a holiday resort. I'm not advocating shit covered cells with leaking roofs, but there has to be an element of deterrence.

Rehabilitation should be the job of parents. By the time you are deemed to owe society punishment is called for.

Yeah there is no point comparing jails in third world countries with Australian jails, completely different scenarios. It would be hell on earth stuck in a foreign jail not knowing the language and dealing with corruption. From what i've read about kerobokan jail in Bali Indonesia the western inmates are seen as cash cows seeing as money talks and most luxuries such as food drugs alcohol and sexual services can be gotten on credit from the heavy indo gangs and corrupt prison guards. If you were an Australian in a Indonesian jail you really would want to have family to offer you financial support so you could purchase drugs or alcohol off the main gangs inside and there by getting you protection thanks to the Indonesian gangster's seeing as you are a loyal customer. You just don't want to get stuck in a turf war between gangs on who can sell drugs inside.

From the two books i've read on Bali prisons the impression i got on life in jail in Bali is that a western inmates experiences and lifestyle can be quite liberal provided you have access to money and you can put up with senseless violence and the threat of tropical diseases seeing as how dirty the Balinese jails are. On the other hand Australian jails are clean with air-conditioning and heating. The food in aussie jails from what some guys who have done time told me is similar to hospital food but you just don't get much meat.
In South-east Asian jails you are feed stale rice with maggot's and other insects in it.

I think the main thing that does prisoners heads in in any countries prison is the boredom and lack of personal space not to mention the constant threat of violence and intimidation that would make even the hardest man on the outside a fair bit edgy and anxious for their first few weeks locked up in gen pop.

What i would like to know what would be worse, General population in a aussie jail or the mental hospital wing of a aussie jail. Either way i am not keen to find out and i am going to keep my mostly law abiding small time recreation drug using non drug dealing ass out of criminal act ivies/ trouble.
 
yeah kerobokan in Bali would be crazy, it was just a few years ago that Scott Rush was photographed in what they said was smoking crack inside.

The report quotes an unnamed source who says despite the 28-year-old's claims to be clean, he regularly took meth, heroin and cocaine in the jail, which was 'like a supermarket' for drugs.

Yeah he would have been smoking shabu or smack, i heard a few of the Bali Nine had drug habits which is understandable for how full on depressing life would be serving a 20+ years to life sentence in a jail as dirty and corrupt as kerobokan.

You know there are people in Kerobokan jail doing multiple years for possession of just a couple of pills and joints. It's common in Indonesia for people charged for drug possession to get 2+ years inside jail but ironically prisoners in Kerobokan can use drugs pretty much out in the open. Don't even get me started that it's normal to be able to pay Indonesian cops $1000 bribe if your caught with a small amount of drugs on your person. I believe this is common for many countries in south east asia. If your a drug user who can't practice saying no to seeking out drugs when away i wouldn't recommend holidaying in Bali or anywhere else in Asia.
 
hi there. I was hoping someone could advise as best they can. I smoked meth on Saturday, a friend and I went through half a gram in 10 hours, as best as I can tell we had half of that each. I went home, ate and slept for roughly 8 hours. I have been in bed all day, drinking water, eating a lot of food. I will get some sleep tonight. I feel a bit scattered but not too bad. I'm supposed to be working tomorrow but I am a little uncertain if I would pass a police saliva check. I'm 5'11, weigh 100 kilos and Saturday was the first time I have smoked ice in over 2 years. By the time I get to driving tomorrow it would have been approximately 40 hours since my last toke. Everywhere on the web suggests to wait 4 days which is a little hard. It was a little worrying when the Victorian drug info website suggests 24 hours should be fine but everywhere else suggests 3 times that amount, anyway. Any help would be much appreciated.
 
Please reply asap! It will assist me when I'm at work if this is a viable option.

I inject met multiple times a day almost every day. A thought has just came to my mind (I'm geeked). Would it be safe to keep my stash in water instead of a baggie? If so how long would it stay good?
 
Im undecided whether canberracrack is legitimate but going by his posts im not surprised at this outcome. Reckless, no self respect and puts others in danger. The kind of person that puts drug reform back 50 years.

If true, I hope he gets his life back on track and takes some control.

Well, you shouldn't get physical withdrawals if you jump off the meth.
Meth has some serious psychological hooks though.
Be careful, as a lot of IVDUs switched from smack to meth in the early 2000s and it can be a far worse habit for some.

I hear you. I smoked it for around a year and a half then tried iv and wish I hadn't. I didn't even like the feeling it gave me. but its so addictive and so dumb I kept doing it an now im 2 years into iv addiction. and its sad but I love it.
 
not anything like heroin for sure. Depending on how much of a addictive personality you have, and as long as you stay away from IV you will be fine addiction wise. before I started iv I quit cold turkey from smoking every day for a year. no withdraws at all. I was sober for 8 months then the iv monster got me
 
Yeah, sadly, it took me a shot of heroin to forget about my pipe. Still got it in my top shelf draw, but there seems to be no urge to buy any, including heroin. I wish doctors could prescribe a 2 week course of benzos just to get through the real crziness of WD. You seem to just go crazy for a couple months after coming off it, and things start levelling out.

I look back now and think whyyyy did i spend all that money on blowing those dragon slayer hits.

No!
To do this safely you need bacterioststic water.
Bacteria can grow in unsterile water, and you don't want to shoot that.

Can't say i agree with this.
Not to promote IV use - far from it - but for me it was the most manageable ROA.
No fiendish redosing that i got from hitting the pipe - which to me, is the worst, most compulsive way to use meth.
But...we're all different. But i'd never smoke meth again.

ok. I know the type. Private schools are insane with the amounts of drugs that poor through them. I've had friends tell me about coke dealing 14 year olds at Newton. These kids are incredibly wealthy so it doesn't surprise me that we're seeing more and more of these types self-destructing. Just look at Harriet Wran and her spectacular fall from grace. Though I would argue that although drugs are a common theme in the melt down of people that they aren't the cause. Just in the same way that everybody who has a mental break down has worn underwear on a regular basis its clear that mental illness and uncontrollable behaviours such as taking drugs, eating, collecting stamps etc are just the consequence of the illness.

He needs a lot of help. Ideally rehab but i think something even more radical. I would argue he should go on suboxone. I know this sounds crazy because its only meant for opiate addicts but he needs a program, he needs a system to work within. Meth and opiate addictions seem to work on a very similar basis (neurologically that is hence the use of naltrexone to treat meth addicts) and thus if he was inducted onto suboxone (i don't know how you'd do it, seeing 2mg, the smallest dose would probably half kill him) that the drug would do a great deal to help with his cravings.
