Methadone Vs. Subs,Dosing,Energy Levels

I am on methadone mmt for the second time after having a horrible heroin addiction also got hep c from my using. i was in about 11 rehabs and nothing worked. I would always go on subs which i got prescribed by my medical doctor.
They would help for the first month then just wore out. I was on subs on and off for years even making it to 3months clean they just never made me feel content.
I just started methdone last thursday but i had taking subs for a month leading up to it and took my last 8 mg on wed which i should of waited. They started me out like they do everyone on 40mg now im up to 60 and still feel im underdosed because the sub should of wore off by now. I also suffer from anxiety like all of us addicts. My clinic allows for benzo use and i know its very dangerous to mix. Im thinking about going on a moderate benzo along with the methadone but im not gonna get crazy and start of with more then i need.

I talkled to my counselor today and he said xanax is prob one of the worst i can go on. Tomorrow i go and i think im getting increased to 70. I have to say i def have much more energy then i do on the subs. Medicine has different effects on everyone. Some can be the other way around getting more energy from the bup, but not me. I live in NJ iays would just sit on my couch and accomplish nothing on Subs. Since the meth i have been much more active. Walking my dogs so much more and shoveling all this snow. I def dont just like to sit around like i did on the sub.

Well i just joined this site so if there is anyone else from NJ message me or of anyone wants to know about my addiction feel free to add. I will update and tell you guys how i am making out>>>>
 
Damn son we have alot in common. I also contracted Hep C. Did the treatment and it went away then came back again. They tried to do another treatment this time a shot everyday. Man it almost killed me. I was so out of it and tired. I have a family so I work and I could barely work. Ended up passing out in the bathroom at work so I only did 3 months on that treatment. I have heard there is a new med that they are adding to peg intron and ribaviran now and it works much better.

I also did the methadone for a while. My problem is I am a stone cold addict so I would abuse methadone. I switched to Subs about 2 years ago and it has changed my life. They have worked wonders for me. I am down to only 1 a day and feel great. The thing is with subs it doesn't matter if you take 1 or 5 you not going to feel any different. I was able to keep some self control and now I don't even have any desire to take opiates. Another thing is once you get subs in your system it doesn't do any good to take opiates or methadone because your not going to feel it at all. When I first started I took subs for a week. Well a buddy came by with some OC 80's the green ones and I just had to try. I slammed both and didn't feel shit. After that I haven't even tried any opiates. Now I will say I tried to get off the subs a couple times and they are very hard for me to kick. The longest I could go was 3 or 4 days and that was after weening my self down.

I hear ya man if subs work for you thats great. So how did you feel on meth...Subs just didnt do it for me. I hear so many haters talk about the withdrawl but im not ever looking to get off. My clinic rules it only has about 80 patients ive never been in there for more than 3 minutes.

As for the hep c, I def heard you can be prescribed medical cannabis because the medications as you said def have pros and cons...

I use to take so many oxys but like all of the opiates once taken and toleance built up they never got me high anymore. Just like methadone once tolerant you dont get high i just feel good... Like all opiates once taken for so long it does nothing anymore. I was shooting 3 to 4 bunds a day just to not get sick ya know
but thats great if the subs made you get your life back... everyone is different dude
 
I just got done watching Methadonia..it's an HBO documentary about methadone. I'm currently on Suboxone maintenance, and i'm a college student...I can't stay on the subs anymore. They don't take away my cravings, and I wish I could end Bupe and be opiate free, but I still have opiate dreams, so I am considering if I have to go multiple years in maintenance, what will be better Bupe or Methadone? I am finally back in school and doing well so I can't afford to jump off then start getting high again and just say fuck it to school.

I'm new here as well man, but i'm gonna add you. I'm interested to see how you like methadone vs subs as the time goes on.

Does Methadone or Subs give you guys any kind of buzz or high since you are using them to combat cravings of opiates?
 
Subs are like my morning coffe. Once I take it I feel ready to go for the day. I don't feel high, more motivated and energized for what I have to do.
 
Hey guys thanks for welcoming me and thanks otherside for putting this in a better section. Well today iwent up another 10 which put my total at 70. Subs really just didnt do it for me and to answer the question of if they get you high. Subs taken by somebody who doesnt ever take them will def get someone high where as meth might kill them if taken too much. Subs made me feel like just very lazy as to where meth makes me much more active. I love waking up early going to the clinic its kind of a better structure rather then getting my months worth of subs, waking up whenever,popping them at all different times. It works for some people but not with me.

I think there is still a little suboxone still in my system.My clean date is December 10,2010 i started subs on that day on 16mg. At first the subs def are great for the withdrawls for me I wont hate on the medication because it def helps. I knew from my past experiences that I only go about a month on subs until i relapse so i made the move to methadone. I cut to 8 mgn on Jan 18th. Took my final 8mg dose on Jan 19th and started methadone on the 20th. No withdrawl or anything just did not feel the methadone because of the subs.I couldnt help it, I know i should of waited a couple days but i just hate feeling any sort of withdrawl. So today its the 28th and I def know they say subs comes out of your system in 3 days but I really dont think so. Some people may say it does but I still think im not getting the full effects of the methadone yet. But you never know, I have a huge tolerance so it could be my dose isnt lifted yet. I mean I only been on it 8 days, started off on 40 now im on 70. I def will increase,also im not worried one bit about withdrawls from it because im at the point where if i need it for life im fine with that.

I will def keep posting on my progress but as of Dec 10th I havent put a needle in my arm so so far so good. Also im gonna be takin some video at my clinic to show people what its like. My clinic is so great because it only has about 90 people. Im never in there longer then 2 min and im grateful for that. Many people get turned off by lines and overall conditions of treatment centers and staff.I would love to hear from my fellow addicts who are in this for life and have very serious conditions because of their use. We can do it guys and good luck to all you beautiful people.

I've gone from methadone to subs and wish I never did... The problem is subs is free and methadone costs about $440 a month... which isn't a big problem. I just hate starting all over and going to the clinic everyday and getting fucked with by counselors and urine collections. Don't have any of that with subs... but I sure do miss my done :(
 
people need to realize regardless to how bad a methadone w/d can be, its better than being a dope fiend, or fiending all day. If you don't feel right on subs, and they do nothing for you, go on methadone. I have the best counsoler in the world at my clinic and its the best clinic ever. They care abo0ut how you feel and you can go as high as you need to and take whatever other meds(besides opiates obviously) you need to in the program. for me I wish I would have gave subs the chance and would have dealt with the hell for a few days but I was a junkie. I couldn't do that. If I could turn things around I would have went on subs when I had the chance. I always feel unmotivated if I don't take my add medication on methadone or off methadone, but some days just suck. I just feel sedated no matter what I take or uncomfortable and its annoying. I wish this hydromorphone implant would make its way to the us it would save so many of us.
 
A hydromorphone implant...I don't that would be so effective, not as much as Methadone. Its just another full agonist. But with hydromorphone you'd still be able to abuse other opioids and get high. Methadone at least blocks that ability to get high. That's the only real difference. Methadone is more powerful than Hydromorphone so I just don't see it as being as effective. They're trying to do heroin maintenance...I mean they already are, and I perceive the two ideas nearly the same. No advantages.

Dude with hydromorphone maintenance you wouldn't have to worry about super intense w/d's. I would totally switch to morphone implant if I had a chance to, or morphine pills, I dunno if it would work with my tolerance though. I still want to know the least painful way switching from methadone to sub

I see what everyone is sayiong but for me any opiate i did for along time would just stop working. I mean methadone is the same way once taken for a while its the same as any other opiate. I mean if you didnt feel anything then why would it be so addicting. Its working but whoever said it doesntwork anymore is just tolerant to it. That is my take on it. Anyway i deal with anxiety too and my clinic allows benzo use so i def am thinking about going on one. I know its very very dangerous but so was shooting bundles in one hit. Im a drug addict and if this is what its gonna take for me to do for the rest of my life then letsss go.

I remember i saw METHADONIA so long ago, i def am gonna see if its on youtube i would def wanna watch it again. From what i recall all them addicts were abusing zanny bars with the meth.

I mean is there really a nice high mixing these two? Or i would think it would be more sedating.

I also wanted to tell you guys i cant sleep worth of anything on methadone. Opiates kept me awake when i used them and so does the meth. I hear people saying it puts them to sleep but not me i may get like 2 hours a night right now thats all. I def tend to itch a little bit when im trying to go to bed but i used to love the itch. So it does kinda have the opiate effect in some people.

Not me, I wish it would make me tired, but actually tonight is the first time i think i can actually sleep. Wake up nice and early tomorrow. I dont know ifmost clinics do this but I get a take home on sunday because they are closed.

How about other clinics for you guys. Do you get your take home on sundays?

yes yes it does. I am going to be going to a detox to switch to Bupe after this semester of school is up. methadone is ruining my life and making me angry I cannot stand it. I don't want to fuck up any more things that are good for me.

mixing it with xanax makes you the most belligerent person you could ever be in the worse way possible. its not worth it. wait awhile or sleep then take your meds don't be abusing benzos on methadone because when you get off youll have a super bad time tapering seeing as how benzos help with w/d

Ya i would just stick with Suboxone and not worry about the methadone. Suboxone is the future of maintenance. Methadone is so 1980's!
