It won't be any time soon as it will take a long time of leveling off and tapering down.
I am not as worried about relapse now. I am highly motivated to get off the opium dependence at some point. I don't want to drop $400-600/mo on this for the rest of my life either.
I will be tapering down veerrrryyy slowly off the methadone when the time comes in hopes that I can make it as painless as possible, 1 to 2 mg a week at most.
I want to know from anyone that has experience with it whether it's better to taper down and switch to subs or just try to drop off the done 1mg at a time until I'm out.
I once kicked at 10-20mg and it was a month of living hell, including losing over 40lbs and not eating/sleeping at all......followed by depression and emptiness that caused me to relapse. At the time though I didn't know that the depression was normal and could eventually go away.
Any advice on how to go about this would be greatly appreciated.
