Mephedrone Megathread VII: Misunderstood Marvels & Malingering Metabolites

A 49-year-old woman has died after taking "legal high" drug mephedrone - known as meow meow.

She collapsed at a house in Dunfermline on Saturday.

Paramedics rushed her to the town's Queen Margaret Hospital at 3.30am - but she died shortly after.

A Fife Police spokesman said a post mortem had been carried out, but full toxicology results were not yet available.

Chief Superintendent Alistair McKeen, said: "The inquiry's at an early stage. A report has been forwarded to the Procurator Fiscal - but there are no suspicious circumstances."

Nice balanced headline there, so much evidence in the article to support the casuality of meph -> death!
 
And apparently mephedrone now costs £35-40 a gram online...fucking morons, how hard is it to type 'mephedrone' into Google before you print a 'news' article??

Will be interesting to see the toxicology report, although I guess with all of these 'meph deaths' they just don't bother reporting the results if they don't back up the initial headline...otherwise we'd be up to about 4 or 5 'mephedrone deaths' in the UK now wouldn't we?

If the price ever goes that high, I'm going back to cocaine and MDMA. Only reason I've been doing meph lately is cause the good value for money
 
Where do the journalists that write these reports get their information from?

Seen so many articles that can't even spell mephedrone!

Surely they'd think to do a bit of research before writing it?

It's really quite ridiculous. If you can't even be bothered to put the word into Google and see what comes up on the first page (Wikipedia, vendors, trip reports) then what the hell are you doing pretending to be a 'journalist'???

I love the quote from some clueless teenager in another article linked earlier - something along the lines of 'people are buying it as a replacement for heroin'...wtf?! It's not methadone you fucking moron!

Oh, I know, let's put that quote in the article - it will make us look like we did all these interviews with the kids...them on the front lines.

Although at least it seems like fewer articles are actually calling it plant fertaliser now...that was just beyond stupid. 'Are your kids raiding the shed to get high?? Find out in our investigative report!'

im guessing its gona be banned in the next month maybe sooner. theres shit loads of news paper articles on it in the last two weeks all basically saying its a killer drug
 
there has been for a few months now, won't be that soon
 
^^^British media is a truth machine compared to media in the states. American journalism would call mephedrone a poison that kills people with just a drop, and 98% of the population would take it as fact. I know because I live here.

July at earliest. Modification orders to the ModA are nearly always Jan or July 1st. Even more likely as it'll probably come with a catch-all paragraph covering most of the cathinone derivatives. Any way you look at it though, there'll be no more cheap legal drug xmases (for a while at least)
 
hopefully banning it will bring down the cost of mdma... I honestly believe that the banning of piperazines has had something to do with the slightly rosier picture so far.
 
I really don't think it has, pips are still just as abundant. The fact that production seems to be getting back to normal in Europe is why our picture is rosier.
 
A quick few mephedrone questions

I recently purchased 1 gram of mephedrone (not from an online vender or headshop) and was wondering if there were any ways of telling if it is real or not e.g numbing of your gums. Now i know without a testing kit or taking it, it is pretty much impossible to tell if what i have is fake or real, but any suggestions on how to narrow down the possibility of it being fake would be much appreciated.

The white powder looks quite flakey and is ouderless, when i licked the powder left over on the sides of the baggy it had a very strange taste and sort of burned my tounge very very mildly for a few seconds.

There may be no answers to this question and if so then feel free to close this thread.
 
Trust your source? If not, you're taking a risk, there's no real way of testing/identifying a random white powder. It won't make your gums numb.

Its cheap enough you'd think you wouldn't be ripped off, I personally would not bother unless I was sure. Moving to the Meph megathread.
 
Mephedrone usually had a very distinctive smell and taste, its quite hard to tell if you've got real stuff or not but its unlikely people are selling fake meph when its cheap and legal
 
The very faint sweet smell is how I identify new batches mostly. It really is very recognisable. The powder should also be white with reflective crystals all through it, it will shimmer in the light.

I agree that it's very unlikely you are getting ripped off completely, but I think it's becoming more and more likely that it might be cut with something 'inert' - particularly from headshops.

As always, start with 5mg dose and slowly work up from that just to make sure it isn't mislablled MDPV or something else. You will start to feel effects around about 30mg, but won't get a real kick until you take about a 80 - 100mg dose.
