The administration is beginning to roll out a new feature to Other Drugs: Thread Prefixes.

The idea is to better organize threads for our members, by providing a convenient way to search for content by drug classification or thread topic. We want your input! Below I am going to list a few ideas of the prefix model. Please vote in the poll by choosing the respected option.

-No:
I do not support the Prefix model in Other Drugs.

-Yes:
I do support the current Prefix model, as is.

-Yes (1)
:
I do support the Prefix model, but I feel the prefixes should be more specific. Instead of "Opiates" or "Amphetamine" prefixes, I think they should be more specific. like: "Heroin", "Oxycodone", "Hydrocodone", "Methamphetamine", "Cocaine".

-Yes (2):
I do support the Prefix model, but I feel the prefixes should be more simple. For example, "Amphetamines" and "Cocaine" would be classified as "Stimulants", or "Uppers". "Heroin" and "Bupe" would be classified as "Opiates".

-Other

I have my own opinion on how the Prefix system should be implemented.

This is not a discussion on splitting the forum. Its simply giving suggestions on how you think the prefixes should look. Further discussion about spitting the forum will be removed

I think it should be a two level system with subgroups to make it simplest. Like for heroin it should be Opiates>Heroin and for Xanax it wold be Benzos>Xanax, or Benzos>Klonopin. The second sub group should be optional so you could still do a general tag like just Opiates or Benzos.

That way everything is orgranized and you have the main general groupr with the subgroup if needed being optional. If you just had a free for all with every drug tag the place would be a mess and you might as well not have tags at all.

I think this model makes the makes the most sense and I would like to hear what people think of that.

^i dont really think the social needs a prefix if its own;)

weve sort of brushed up on this idea and at the moment the concensus is that it would be good for organisational purposes but not necessarily the best for searching options and browsing appearance. its a good idea but if the prefixes were simply for organisational purposes then splitting the forum would be better for that option - as phrozen raised to us mods:)

im really happy with the looks of the prefixes:) i can see a great deal od good coming from them.

The reason we split out certain opiates is due to interest they receive, and therefore the benefit they would receive from having their own prefix. For example, heroin has arguably been the most discussed opiate since OD's inception, and due to the potential harm associated with its abuse, it deserves its own prefix. Also, bupe has been a hot topic for several years, and when considering it going generic, and the life saver it has been for many, it also deserves its own prefix.
Here's an explanation I gave why certain opiates have their own prefix.

I think the apostrophes in "RC's" and "benzo's" should be removed, but otherwise I approve. Haven't decided which Yes though heh

I just don't see the point... For example, let's say I make a post inquioring about buprenorphine... Why would I not put this in the title anyways? Isn't the idea of a title to describe what your post is about?

Let's just look at the top few thread titles as they are currently...

"(Bupe) Suboxone/Buprenorphine Megathread and FAQ v4.0"
"(Heroin) heroin users: Do you cop on streets or have call up guy ?"
"(Opiates) How severe is my opiate tolerance if I can...."
"(Opiates) Regions of the USA and their corresponding Opiate "Rx cultures"..."
"(Opiates) Does anyone like the morphine histamine rush?"

All of these are clearly redundant. Then, take the next one:

"(Amphetamines) Is there a ritalin like legal alternative?"

That prefix is just plain incorrect.

In summary, this really doesn't seem necessary to me.

i'd be in favor of splitting the forums. the current layout makes no sense. why is there a cannabis forum, an ecstasy forum, a psychedelics forum but no opiates forum? i realize there are bureaucratic reasons why that is not going to happen though, so if pre-fixes is the best you can do, i'm for them. they look ugly though. i would say at least put them in brackets instead of parenthesis because that makes them look a bit less like they are a part of the sentence that is the topic title.

For example, I make a post concerning buprenorphine... Why would I not put this in the title anyways?

because not everyone is as sensible as you are and people start threads with no indication of what drug they are about in the title.

Have you guise considered making the prefixes all caps? Might look nice and have it more noticeable IMHO :)

As mentioned above, not everyone puts that in their title. So, prefixes provide a different display option(somewhat of a compromise for all the people that wanted to split OD) and allows for better searching.

Also, we're addressing incorrect prefixes. All you guys have to do report.

its to improve the search capabilities along with helping keep the forum look a little more organised. unfortunately not everyone is as sensible as you and writes a short, on the point title;) what phrozen said just above is exactly why some of the prefixes (ie - opiates, bupe) are redundant

i understand how you think that amphet title is wrong which you pointed out, it probably should have been posted as a "misc" prefix is imo but thats what the report function is for though, if you see anythnig that you think is wrong/abuse/etc then report it:) rr

they are in brackets already. i kind of dont like the brackets myself and asked whether we needed to keep them which we do in order to folloq the other forums that do have them.

wjat do you find ugly about them exactly?

I agree with you.

There is even a STEROID forum...and I swear that there would be more threads in an opiate discussion (new OD) than in that forum...

Can't you change the color of them? Like, idk to grey, so they kinda don't look so BAM, and kinda just look bam?

we can change the colour but to be honest black is the best suited colour for OD. if they were even grey then they would still stick out because you would notice the grey font in front of the thread titles all the way down the page. other colours like blue or red or green are too obnoxious.

its a feature that the drug studies and aus social forum use for different things. im pretty sure phrozen threw the idea of the prefix tags in the splitting discussion - i could be totally wrong, thats what my stoned brain is telling me at the moment.

i think theyre great as well wiggi, some others seem to be a little negative about them;)

NAH, wiggi, We are the guinea pigs.

We're being tested on, and if this test passes, then all of the other forums get a prefix.
