(Melb) Two Tribes 2006 - Sat 25th FEB REVIEWS (Melbourne Park)

Awesome night, started off good by not seeing any dogs and then just got better as I entered Vodafone :)

So much for music diversity, I spent all night in Godskitchen!

Didn't make it in time for the Bluelight meetup, but caught up with kitti which was nice.

will be there next year :D

Tribes.. well. I found it to be over rated.. sorry but it wasn't really that good or maybe i was just expecting more.

The ques were really bad at times 1) to get in 2) waiting at vodaphone and it not opening to 11:30 (can someone confirm this btw)

I met a few bluelighters through the night (dammed if i can remember their forum or real name) One of them was handing out 5htp for free (You know who you are, thanx)

I think the police really need to take a different approach, I would have spoken to a few hundred people last night all but a few were holding, selling or buying. I understand that they need to protect us from ourselves but pulling people out the line finding a few pills on them, fining them, screwing their night, making everyone jumpy is not the way. But this has been discussed before.

Glad to see their wasn't much G going around (from what I saw anyway) although surely there was.

Didn't see any violence the whole night (not suprised) and only saw security a handful of times.

Gods was the room to be in as far as i am concerned, i did spend some time in pharmacy which was nice and had a clubby feel but perhaps a bit of a rougher scene.

On a personal level, I would not go again - guess i am just getting to old. Getting into the place did my head in and i was just not in the mood for it after that.

KAI'S SET

Yes Kai did get a bit harder but not much, I was sorry to hear him not play "for just one day" but he did play "trance and acid" then... they turned the lights on it was very sureal.

The night was prob 50/50 for me. got in there with no drama's no sight of the dogs but wasnt happy with security kicking us out from under the umbrellas while waiting for gates 2 open. i prob spent half the night just wondering around talking to any1 i came across n the other half spent in pharmacy n gods. pharmacy prob being the room that saved me from disapointment. was no where near as many ppl as last year tho. from what i saw there was plenty of G going around tho. 3 ppl getting rushed out to the ambo n numerous ppl sleeping it off in the rave safe tent. overall tho the experience is always worth it in my book, the ppl the place n they music n the main fact of every1 being there for the same reason does it for me. The sight from the stands in vodaphone at about 3:30 during Armin;s set tho is one that will stay in my memory for a long time. just a sea of ppl all moving together was just the best View. by any chance does any1 know the Rave Safe web site? i cant find it n i lost this chicks address who was workin in there that i was talkin to for who knows how long lol. well i hope every1 had a good time!

Voda didnt open till ~11.30

Sober night for moe (had 4 beers).
Technasia fucking kicked ass. No more need be said.
Blackstrobe's percussionist was nice. His keyboardist/guitarist was also. He was pathetic. I woulda watched more, but seriously, electronic artists singing?!
Armin was Armin, as expected. I'm sure I'd enjoy him if I was stupid and liked trance.
Missed A-Sides, alas.

Kudos to the friends I hit it up with :)

indeed what a great night.
being drunk at a rave = uberly awesome.
missed tv rock which i was pissed off at but had a good laugh at the people running the opposite way from rod laver when they saw there were sniffer dogs.
saw dave pham who was pretty bangin, good old solid techno. then to armin was very pissed by this stage and loved every minute. off to see technasia who were very very very loud but got to hear nebulla and acid storm which i danced my little butt off too. saw a little of eric morrillo who i was actually quite impressed with, then back to armin...who then played "sweet dreams" which was orgasmic! i love thee!
what an awesome night with some awesome company :)

VERY impressed with kai's set to finish off the night!
Finally got to see Armin Van Buuren YAY!! Was not what i expected but was great none the less. The end of his set was awesome!! "sweet dreams" was definently orgasmic hehe i like that ^^^
TV Rock to start off the night was fantastic! Wasnt expecting the set they played, it was better & was perfect for getting everyone started & in the mood to boogie:D

Ah fuck I forgot he played sweet dreams....that was tops yeah :) It was the Angello/Ingrosso remix that's making the rounds at the moment...very good :)

NIght was great...i just wish i could remember more of it....TV Rock was great, Technasia was excellent (although i can't remember why), Lee Coombs was my pick of the night (just, over Armin) and he signed my cd :D, Kasey Taylor was fucking cool as when i saw him for 10min, Armin was amazing as expected....the first hour of his set was much more electro based than i expected....don't get me wrong it was still trance but more electro/tech trance than straight out hands-in-the-air stuff...loved it....Also saw Markus Shultz, and was quite impressed too (a compliment from a guy who stopped listening to trance quite some time ago)....

Hmm, also saw about 15min of Morillo and was impressed (except for his "cut the music so everyone can cheer" antics which happened atleast 4 times in 15min)...and yeah, why the fuck was the Hardware room so fucking loud?! It musta been about 140dB in there....

Good event all up, was happy to have mates there with me....props to them for making it a night to remember (if only I could in the 1st place!) :)

It was nice seeing you too .... sorry i wasn't quite with it 8(

well I'm a bit late, but I think my brain has recovered now.
I had a great time at TT this year.

I nearly went in by myself after narrowly escaping a sniffer dog. Luckily it was preoccupied with a guy further in front of me, but that was enough to scare my mates into running into the opposite direction. I found them again after wedging myself in the middle of the queue, where no dog would ever fit.

And thats about as far as my memory goes. lol

AVB was awesome and played all the tracks I really wanted to hear and Markus Schulz was as good as I expected.

I wish I could remember more :\ , but the highlites for me was hearing "tracking treasure down", twice!! and "f16"... I had been praying AVB would play those and I wasn't dissapointed =D

Kai Tracid.. well.. he kinda ummm... sucked. he was alright but he wasn't playing the sorta stuff I was expecting to hear from him until the very end.

I'm sorry.... I didn't meet anyone from BL though, all the queues scared me from ever trying to leave vodafone. I did meet lots of kewl people tho, and if you were up the front maaybe I saw u.

how many days to go until next year? lol

^ lol. u rock

i was blown away by armin.. the sound was just unbelievable :)

clipz & die in the dnb arena was my highlight though (and seeing them again last fri!!!!!)

saw most of markus schulz, and he was exactly what i expected.. really awesome prog trance sends me to a beautiful place :)

bring on two tribes 07!!!!! (but fuck the dogs right off)

Wikked Wikked long weekend! ... Damn I loved visiting Melbn again! :D I had a pritty good run... Bass Station on Friday night... sleep all day Saturday. Two Tribes Saturday night then PHD for recoveries on Sunday!! Record shoppin on Monday then back to a random's place for a mix!! Damn I love how the party never stops in Melbn =D

So I got in to 2tribes a bit late. Made the BL meetup and was greeted by Hoptis... kinda pissed him off accidently on intros as I thought he said his alias was "Optus" n which I responded "nah sorry never seen ya on BlueLight..." Then he was like I'm a moderator ect... then I realised oh... Hoptis... oops... heheh... No other Bluelighters showed up but meh.... all good...

I only saw the last 3rd or so of Marcus Schulz set... was ok kinda nice n mellow but not many memorable tracks... Was pretty disapointed that Marcus didn't sign a record I had of his... just said "later" then at the end of the set of course disapeared in Armin's massive entrance...

Armin's opening was off the hook... I was watchin him up there then getting ready then he popped up to open the set, the lasers came on behind him and the crowd went wild... And that was when I first noticed my visuals had kicked in strong and I started seeing multicoloured trails off his head (oops maybe I should save that for the "Trip Reports" section =D).... At first I didn't recognise the track he was playing... Then I realised it was the very track I'd been playing over n over a few days ago considering buying on vinyl... it was Zocalo... Damn... Unreal... Had to buy after that! Went to meet a friend and coat check.ect ect.. so 50min later came back... was dissapointed his set didn't really take off n "peak" trackwise if you know what I mean... I really think Armin is one of the trance pioneers but was a bit dissapointed he chose a more deep more progressive kinda sound with just too many ambient filler tracks... woulda loved some really memorable uplifting tracks such as in Armins set @ Club Eau the Hague. Woulda loved to hear him play his mix of Motocyle - As the Rush Comes... ect ect..

Loved Kai's set... was surprised with him playing tracks like PUSH - Universal Nation and then also what he commented on after his set about the older tracks being some of the best trance tracks... Was cool to hear that there are still DJ's who love the older really trancey uplifting sound like I do too... Got those wikked Kai Tracid record boxsets signed... will put up pix in my gallery soon.... ;)

Overall I loved loved loved the venue, Melbourne is great and it's stacks bigger and better than Sydney... Way nicer more chilled out vibe I think... nice people and the big vodaphone arena rocks. I am was a little surprised to admit that I think there really is a place in Australia that has a raves that are big enough and quality enough to be kinda comparable to some of the good ones in Europe!...

Damn I love the scene in Melbourne...

ps... I so gotta get myself a pair of those really cool Melbn phatties made up... Damn you Melbournians Rock!:)

LOL... no, I was just frustrated that it was only 12.30 and I thought I'd lost the ability to communicate with other humans :)

Good meeting ya, our meetup of two rocked. We rule! =D

Got to hear the G&D mix during their set @ Godskitchen last year which was pretty special.

Glad to hear you enjoyed Melbourne, shame Marcus didn't sign your record.
