(Melb) Two Tribes 2006 - Sat 25th FEB REVIEWS (Melbourne Park)

^^ That spot at the top of the stairs is pretty tight for 10 - 20 people to be just standing around. And even if we move inside vodafone it'll be pretty packed and loud in there for a meetup. I think the foyer or just outside it is a good idea....and yes, 1am i think over 1:30am.....

Oh and KryalKastleE, i'll see you @ Dave Pham + Dallas Raft ;)

If he plays a similar set it will be insane

Yeah there is some good tracks in there but really, from someone with his rep you'd expect a bit more "this is new and fucking tops and i think you punters should hear it" music and a bit less "this is a popular track so i'll play it" music. I mean, take Born Slippy, Song 2, Dooms Night, Second Trip, Punk & Trance and Acid.....all very tried and true party tracks....i hear them at nightclubs in my hometown all the time for fucks sake and i'm sick of it!!

Need to do a bit better than that i'm afraid Kai....

Dude I have no idea it's only my second trip to Melbourne and Vodafone & Rod Laver and half that stuff wasn't open for GodsKitchen when I was there so it'll all be new to me...

I suggest 1am because I think people will want the 30mins before Armin starts to get down through the seats, onto the stadium floor and jostle for good position up front. When you see how big Vodafone is you'll understand.

Usually the lockout in the past has been at the entrance to the dancefloor, not to the stadium itself. At least that's what happened last year during Prodigy.

And yeah, foyer just inside Vodafone is a good spot.

%)

^^ agreed on lockout!! also don't forget schulz is playing before Armin, so I wouldn't be surprised if the lock out happens quite early on in the night

Good luck recognising each other in amongst the millions billions of people :p :D

After being in the stadium for 6 hours, Kai is going to have to put on quite a show to keep me in there - i personally doubt ill be sticking round for his set

Markus will be just as good, if not better, than Armin. Anyone else listen to his Global DJ Broadcasts?

you coming lah lah?!!!

*gets excited*

-and t i will def. see u @ dave pham. maybe you can wipe my sweat again, we'll see.

oh and ill be wearing a black top with "team jolie" on it if i happen to pass anyone by...say hi :)

ahh so close but yet so far. looking forward to this one. still not happy it dont kick off till 10 tho :-(. attempting to sleep sat away so it just comes but i know sunrise will come n my eyes will spring open with excitment and then play the waiting game. will be the longest day of my life i think :-(

To recognize each other amongst the crowd, the perth guys had a good idea.
work out some where to meet and at the agreed time we can blow up blue balloons.
ok so i know it sounds gay but it's a good way for people, like me, who know none of you by face to come and say hi without being worried i have the right group.
as far as a time and place goes i'm easy.

Okay howz this then?

BLUELIGHT MEETUP
So the BlueLight meetup is at 1am just inside the doors of the foyer which are out the front of the Vodafone arena.

-I should be wearin a white n black Gatecrasher hat.

Everyone cool with that? Oh and are the directions correct, is the foyer just outside the Vodafone Arena?

ps. the only thing I'm really worried about is this lockdown on the dancefloor... there's no way I want to get locked out for Armin's set. That's why I wanted to have the meetup inside so you'd get locked in... but anyway I can understand if you don't want to yell over the music so the foyer sounds okay... can someone plz tell me though, last year how long before the Prodigy's set did the dance floor get locked down? Just wondering so we all know when we need to leave the meetup to get to the dance floor...

pps... yep I've listened to a live set or two from Armin and also Schulz recently broadcast on DI.FM... awesome site... even sounds great on dial-up... n yeah both Schulz and Armin sets were quality.

ppps.... to the Perth dude: fuck blue balloons and that shit dude, relax and don't worry about being afraid of meeting new people... after all we're all randoms too aren't we? So man if you see a few people hangin out where the meetup should be... go up n say hi, introduce yourself & ask em if they are a Bluelighter. Even if no BL'ers show up, well you'll probably have fun chatting to the randoms you just introduced yourself to. heheh :D Last year at no show BL'er meetup I accidently met with a bunch of raver freinds I hadn't seen since 2 years ago when I was over at there scatt day n coz since then I'd travelled the world we'd lost contact.... Was wikked to seem them again! Friend was like... "You got vinyls now?" Me: "Yeah man.. started collecting in Switzerland... addicted eh" Friend: "I got decks now... Come over n have a mix" =D =D =D

^^ awesome!!

im gonna see how i go -- if the arena is heaps busy then im not leaving cos i don't wanna struggle to get back in

lockdown if i remember happened just before prodigy set? anyone correct me if im wrong :)

i love di.fm :D

Yeah what to do all saturday!! im gonna get up early-ish and do everything i need to do and then watch dvds for the rest of the day. im hoping ill doze off but if i don't at least im relaxing watching dvds =D i'd love to get another 8 hours sleep during the day so im really bouncy for the night .... but don't know if its gonna happen judging by how excited i already am .... :p =D

Haha :D If i'm as screwed as I was that night maybe I will....I have to apologise again for that, i'm sure it was a little more than bizarre :) Apparently i'm getting some pham + raft mixes off Kelsta, so i'll get you copies of those too :)

I noticed Future (MJ or someone at Future I assume) saying on another forum that there would be no lockouts this year. I'm not sure what that means in terms of crowd control... :\

^^ Yeah i'll believe that when I see it tho....

Last years debarcle of The Prodigy lockout was shortlived....loved seeing people jumping the fences they put up and then the people in front of us kicking them down and jumping over the top of them....that enabled us to be front and centre the entire set....

i think that with prodigy, a lot of people went to see them just out of curiosity and the hype that was surrounding them...and thats why there was this mass of people flocking to rod laver PLUS they played early on in the night so everyone got their night started off there.

armin is playing a big set so people who are just curious, i doubt will stay for the whole thing, i think u'll get people coming and going...and for all the house heads, there is no way that they would miss steve angello...so i really dont think there will be much hassel with lockouts this year.

and come 3-4am a lot of people are outside chillin and chatting and relaxing whereas last year they were going into arenas, namely Rod Laver for Prodigy to get things kick started...so i really dont think their will be an issue with armin and lockouts.

plus a lot of the curious people may have seen him at summa dayze a year ago and may not be so curious anymore...anyway...thats just what i think...i hope im rite...

I just Got a VIP pass and a Gold wrist band off a mate. You dont need a tiket if u got a wrist band already is that right? Does anybody no?

i agree with marcs131 .....

maaaan this is so exciting .... im gonna be bouncing off the walls this time tomorrow (from excitement heihei)

to stay for all of armin's set - i think you would really need to be into your uplifting trance ... i mean 3.5 hours is a long long time =D

I also saw Future say that the fences would definitely not be up again this year. Still remember watching that fence go down in the stands and hundreds of people rushing to the other side of Rod Laver. Pretty disastrous crowd control.

Personally I intend to catch the start of Armin and the last hour if I can get back in.

RE: The wrist band and VIP tag; call Future and ask them. Gold wristbands were also used to identify VIP's at Summadayze.
