[Melb] Summadayze @ Myer Music Bowl [REVIEWS] :: NYD :: Fatboy Slim!

I'm keen to see Boogs, heard very good things about him. So I guess I'll be getting there earlyish. Hopefully bright eyed and bushy tailed :D

*taps nose* It seems we can make an exception...

He he of course babe it's a must!
Except I also will be making a midday appearence - last year's 10am arrival totally bent me.

although my mates and I are being smarter this year and actually bringing a rug and some food so we can sit and chill for parts (anyone is welcome to join).

He's awesome! Hopefully he can show what he's really made of with a one hour set, though he's been pretty unremarkable at the big gigs I've seen him play.

I'll be there around 10am, nothing like killing a few hours taking in the sights and beating the big line outside before the party really starts in the afternoon :)

ohhh havoc with bloss and iamtha1 :)

muhahaha.
good day this shall be!
i cant wait!!!!!!!!!!

and yes i think anywhere before midday will break me.

I saw me a weather forecast that said Sunny and 34 degrees :D Yay! :D Good time for a QLDer to be in Melbourne ;)

Someone just pointed out to me that Future have put on their website that tents aren't going to be allowed to be taken in this year which sucks because they're forcasting showers for the day.
Why no tents? They've allowed them every other year.

:(

Well apparently the BOM have changed their minds :(

I'll blow them up, that'll fix them.

According to Future it's because council didn't grant them a fence line extension. More info on the Future site.

COUNCIL HAS IGNORED YOUR OUTCRY

It seems all of your emails and phone calls have fallen on deaf ears. We urge you to remember this next time they ask you for support.
(We will remind you)!

As time is against us we have decided not to pursue the matter into the Supreme Court.

The compromise that was put to council had only the health, safety and comfort of you, the patron as its central theme.

NO FENCE EXTENSION

Unfortunately we have to announce that there will be no extension this year.

NO TENTS

As a result of this there will be no room for tents at Summadayze 2006 so please refrain from bringing them to the event.

^^^^^^
I know why they're claiming we can't have tents, but that maks no sense.
I don't see how not having the fence line extended means that tents are now not allowed. If the fence line position impacted on tents then they should never have been allowed, not just because they didn't get their way. Bringing your own shelter has been allowed previous years with the fence line in the same place.
If they're trying to make a point because they didn't get their way with VCAT, then they're making the point to the wrong people.

Well I'll see you all there and pop I expect an even better costume than last time!! Although how can you ever better it? :)

well i had a fucking great time.
got there to see john course who suprisingly was pretty good, had some good mixes esp. of evermores its too late. and i got to hear "flaunt it" so i was happy.
and then the rain - which was appropriatley timed by his mix of mobys song "oh and its raining again" .... but just made it more fun for me really....
luckily we took up shelter under a tent near the main stage and sat through bodyrockers set quite dry, whilst other danced about in teh rain. it was amazing how much the rain just didnt phase some people, it was great!
walked around for a while whilst the bodyrockers set was stopped for crowd control reasons down in the bowl, but they still managed to come off strongly *applause* i was very suprised by them, they played an awesome set! i loved their opening song :)
tall paul didnt really do much for me but he did drop vitalics poney which was enough to make him worthy by my standards :)

went to line up to get into the bowl at about 6pm to find there was absolutely no chance of getting anywhere and iamtha1 informing me she was very very stuck inside and couldnt get out. so we took up residence just outside the bowl with pop popavich and co. andgrooved away to the fat man :) some people i talked to didnt think he was all that great but i thought he was fantastic. some of his mixes didnt quite flow and i thought he could have held his tracks a little longer but he didn just play a set the night before, so i cut the man some slack.
his "you know what is what but you dont know what is what...you just strut" got the crowd really going as did rockerfeller skank and praise you. bird of prey was too very very awesome.
ronger sanchez the last man of the night started off well but held his tracks waaaay too long and got a bit boring toward the end in my opinion. but his finish was great and he did play deep dish's say hello which was awesome!
but all in all a great day, great people and fun times!
thanks to all who made it an awesome day for me :)
and fatboy slim rocks :)

Summa dayze was amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Unfortunately I thought Fat Boy sucked big time, so did Tall Paul, Sanchez and pretty much most of the other guys playing house and electro, even though I was up the front of the mosh pit. The trance stage is what did it for me. It was just great to see all of Melbourne's best playing at the one event. Me loved it long time :) - especially dancing wildly in the rain

What a crazy day.

Set out in shorts and singlet to battle the heat, from 2pm I ended up battling the cold and rain.

My highlights were the Housedayze, especially dancing for 2 hours under a tree while the rain kept falling. Managed to get into the barricaded sheltered area of the mainstage where we remained for the rest of the night - dancing ona podium with 6 gay guys. It was fantastic!!

Loved the Bodyrockers who still managed to finish great even with the interruption of the set, Tall Paul was enough to make anyone go to sleep and was unimpressed with Fatboy Slim as well - I felt like he put all his energy into Sydney because his set just lacked.

Still a great day, and stoked that the rain didn't deter many people!

^ Some of us have been on a bender since :p ;)

I had a fanfuckingtastic time, perfect other than the weather. But looking on the bright side I guess that is part of the Melbourne experience :D

Soul of Man were awesome, as was dancing in the rain.
Snuck into a VIP area for a while to get out of the rain but in the end I went back to a mates motel to get dry.

I've never been a big fan of Fatboy Slim but thoroughly enjoyed myself. Loved out of space by the prodigy and Check it out by the Beastie Boys.

Caught the end of Evil 9's set which had me dancing my arse off between speaking shit to people.

Overall I had a great time and would love to do it again :D
