FUTURE WINS FIRST ROUND IN COURT
SUMMADAYZE - VCAT HEARING - PLANNING AND ENVIRONMENT LIST
Earlier today, the VCAT heard Future Entertainment's planning permit appeal against the decision of the Melbourne City Council refusing to extend the boundary of the Sidney Myer Music Bowl for Summadayze.
In a positive decision, Tribunal Member Peter O'Leary ordered that a condition be imposed in the current Permit allowing the fence line to the Bowl to be extended for the Summadayze event.
It was anticipated that this permit condition would address the objections raised by the Melbourne South Yarra Group, in that it would limit as far as possible the effect of the event on the Kings Domain Park, whilst giving you, the patrons, a more comfortable and safe environment to enjoy the event.
The condition was subject to Summadayze obtaining all further consents and approvals from the Council.
Sadly, this is not the end of the legal battle.
The Melbourne City Council has indicated that because the extended boundary to the Sidney Myer Music Bowl comes within Government land, two further consents and approvals are required to be obtained.
The Council have indicated that at this stage the other two approvals will not be granted for Summadayze.
NOW WE NEED YOUR HELP!
We call on all Summadayze supporters to rally together and assist Future Entertainment to persuade the Council to grant the further two permits.
Call Melbourne Events event operations - Melbourne City Council on 9658 9750.
Ask them why Summadayze is not getting a fence extension when another similar event was granted an extension earlier in the year.
Tell them you would like to attend the Event and be safer and more comfortable by having more room, toilets and shade available to you.
Tell them you have rights to enjoy a Holiday at an event in a park and those rights should not be disregarded.
You could also call either Councilor Catherine Ng or Councilor Brindly on 9658 9892 or email them directly
[email protected] and

Ask them why they are opposed to this event and pledge your vote at the next election if they change their mind.
