Melb ~ Misstress Barbara & Kai Tracid ~ Hifi Bar ~ Jan 10th 2004

The tunes were awesome, pitty I was so tired I left halfway through Misstress Barbara's set *sobs*
 
Once again a hell of a night!

Mistress Barbara: No wonder she is in the TOP 20 DJs in the world, she knows how to work with the crowd excellently, she is sexy no doubt and is she a magician with the decks, her mixing is flawless and her track selection is just top class, she is definately one of my favourite, Mistress Barbara please come down again this year, you are the queen of techno!

The start of the night ended up being ok but fuck man why in the hell would Kai Tracid and Hellraiser play after Mistress? This was such a downfall, from the crowd bouncing up and down as soon as these guys came on everyone sat down. The worst kind of music I have ever heard in my life, instead of keeping the techno heaven going we go with trance and acid, I thought they should of been somewhere else.

But ah well, hopefully it wont happen next time. Other than that big up for Mistress again and top sound system, great party! Well done. :D
 
Well I had a damn ball!

Misstress Barabra was incredible, so sexy and so skilled =D Really had the energy of the crowd pumping.

Kai and Hellraiser were really good IMO. I was extremely impressed. Sure, it wasn't techno (well not ALL techno), but it was very worthy of my praise, although the heavy kicks were a little cheesy, but I still loved it.

Big ups to MTM and Hardware for hopefully breaking a little hole in the genre barrier last night.

ps - I think i'm deaf.
 
Yeah that was a fucking wicked night, have to say i liked what hellraiser and kai where pumping out.

And mistress barbara what an awesome chick, hot, and able to crack out some smashing beats.

but like hardicus i'm also deaf and my legs are also in pain, but boy was it worth it.

hopefully what the rest of 2004 will have, fucking awesome techno :D
 
Have to state that apart from the night not ending well with the genre change in my opinion, this was an A+ techno night that surely kicks off a wicked start to 2004, so all I have to say is 'everyone prepare' :D
 
Mistress Barbera... You spin me right round baby right round!!!!

A killer Techno set by one of the most skillfull and sexiest female Dj's i have ever seen. Cant wait to see hear again 8o

well done to PDT and his crew for puttin on a wicked party at a venue that has a sound system, which in my opinion is by far the best in Melbourne.

No complaints at all.
 
1 complaint - that green laser didn't come down to the front of the dance floor where i was for most of the night :)

but not that it really matters
 
Ahh, she still rocks my world. She even managed to get my jaded butt up onto the dance floor. The first time I've had a boogie in well over a year. The only downsides were that it was way way too loud, I mean really what is the point of having it that loud. And she seemed really pissed off at the end and stormed out. Usually she hangs around and talk to you after her set.

But on the upside it was an excellent set and PDT was awesome. It reminded me why I want to marry her!
 
Too loud??? HEHE I cant be bothered writing about against this but HIFI is known with one of the best sound systems in VIC and no wonder, the louder it is the better BUT ofcourse the sound needs to be high quality which it was, and no way was Mistress not happy with the sound, its the total opposite, when the sound is too low the DJ will be upset.

Sound was 100% spot on!!!
 
Yeah, but during the peaks it was so loud that it just sounded like fuzz to me. But admittadly I'm a jaded old man. They cold have atleast fixed the ear plug machine for the night, or sold them behind the counter.
 
I have to agree...It was a little too loud! Rest assured next time things will be different.

this night was definately something to tell your grandchildren about. i was totally blown away. and the fact that mistress barbara can play something so consistently hard with such style and ease is beyond me. she certainly has set the standard very high and i am looking forward to more techno.
 
Its not that the SOUND was TOO LOUD though? If anything the treble and midi sometimes surpassed the actual bass of the tracks, so if they thickened up the drive of the sound a little more could of been improved, but in no way should the sound of been lowered otherwise it would make the night annoying as I am telling you know low sound is what makes a shit night.
 
Sound is of course a very important aspect of any night and takes first preference at anything we do.

As stated above, we will work to getting it spot on next time :)
 
I always think a good measure of sound is if you need to type stuff on your phone in order to talk to your friends it's too loud. And I understand about having a bad mix can make the sound terrible even at low volumes, I have many friends who are sound engineers and know all about mixing a PA.

And at the very least if you want to have it that loud make sure the ear plug machine is working.
 
Totally agree with the earplug machine. It was working at the start of the night though *as some mates of mine had bought some*. Nevertheless, it should have been in working order.

Just wondering if you spoke to Misstress Barbara after her set at all?

A few people have been saying that she was upset the way she just walked off after her set.

But I thought the exact opposite, it loooked to me that she enjoyed herself heaps, and was having a good time up there behind the decks. Did you get any feedback from her on the night? and what she thought of the crowd?
