Melb. Digital Electronic Music Festival. REVIEWS April 25th

^i suppose a good start would be to walk into a bank wearing the paper-bag on my head and ask the people in there for money...brb

edit: stupid public holidays. they wont be open til tuesday :( guess i'll have to wait...

Dona Nobis Pacem

This shall be good, yet'Twas sad to see this dear thread started with the remark of the action of "shaking of babies";

and what do you people look like again?

Kind Regards,
Oceanboy; the last guy dancing on the Pharmacy Floor @ EC, 11/03; "So where were the rest of you?"

I like it when I am with nice people at nice places, dancing to nice media....

:D

^Just about to leave. :)

Well.... I'm vicariously attending this event via several mobile phone calls... and may i be the first to say that Dave Caretta ROCKED OUT!!!
Such a shame that my non-internet self is stuck at work :(

No ATMs my ass.

Anyhoo, as predicted by me, Carretta fanboy++, he delivered a standout set, despite the fact it wasn't quite as live as I expected it, but then again, everything he did was brilliant and would have been so regardless of how automated the set was.

Half of Slam did quite nicely, but by then I was stuffed and my legs refused to move. The other half was shithouse.

The Hacker was a bit of a letdown really, although he was infinitely better than when he had Miss Kittin tagging along.

Dave Pham was apparently wasted, but still kept me happy :)
Seriously, easily one of the better DJs we have stumbling around here

I don't think I caught any other set.
Maybe 5minutes of Meccanoid?
Missed DeeDee's unfortunately, but that was ok, because I was busy swilling beer at crown.

All in all a brilliant event which needed no artificial stimulation* (cept for beer, but that doesn't count)

*emphasis on the need. stimulation was had anyway

^^These shots of you and Caretta have me but moments away from making a terrible phonecall that could end your life........

...a man can only take so many "you lucky bastard" fat-o-gram strippers in one day......

Nice pic moe :)

was quite a nice day. was pretty let down by most of the acts i wanted to see, but dave pham was good as always :)

left quite early because it was so bloody cold, but it was a nice day when the sun was out.

What an awesome day. =D

The weather was a beautiful mild mix of dappled sunshine and soothing calm breezes.
Perfect for a chilled session at the docks.

Began the day meeting up with everyone at the meetup - - - an impressive turn-out I must say. :)
Spent the next little while sipping on some poorly chosen cocktails and sampling the rather delectable electro' beats with KemicalBurn et. al.

Time was wasted until Dave Caretta

began his set...
Fucking. Amazing.
Absolutely blown away - - - truly the first DJ to encapture my senses entirely without the aid of *any* stimulants.

The following SMS was sent soon after the set finished;
"Dave Caretta just caused me to jizz in my pants. x__x Just picking up the pieces, will be with you forthwith."

I was tempted to try for a photo with the man himself, as he moseyed on past me after the set, but stupid me got all star struck at the last second and could only manage a ditzy grin. :\

Caught some of TheHacker and wasn't overly impressed.
Nice beats, didn't reachme on any level though.

Scratch Perverts were funky as all hell, and had the crowd absolutely pumping but I'm afraid they got a little repetative for my liking.

* * *

The lack of drinks and subsequent price of the drinks I settled with put somewhat of a dampner on the day as well as the lack of ATM facilities and proper toilets.
Why people can't use port-a-loos sensibly is beyond me. Seriously, how hard is it to not piss on the floor?!? :X

I was impressed with the variety of ages and styles present.
Many many khandii-kids alongside some glitterazi and others - - - nice to see everyone getting along.

* * *

All in all an awesome event with some truly amazing acts - - - definately at the next one. =D

Yeah, I had a kick ass time. Caretta was freakin amazing, havent danced that hard and that long for ages. Massive props to Moe for covering my ticket :)

In case you didn't notice, there was at least 1 ATM right next to the bathrooms in the room next to Hardware.

I was happy with the event but the overall presentation was a little poor, I mean the total lack of lasers and fun lighting didn't do much for the atmosphere in the Redline or Pharmacy rooms.

Proteus absolutely rocked the house and he seemed to love playing it as much as we enjoyed listening to it, met a whole bunch of fun randoms and even scored some more khandii off someone. :D

But seriously what was with the totally useless VIP passes? :\

^^true that, i didn't even have to get mine out to get photos with Carretta and The Hacker.

Noone knew who they were, or had the balls to go up to the French electro stars and say anything.

Kudos to confidence :)
