Megaupload shut down

^Very true. However, as it's peer to peer, you can't block the torrent. You can log the IP's of where the peers are connected.
Keep clients and servers 'offshore' and you won't have any issues.

Sites hacked by Anon in retaliation.

Much, much easier to get caught with torrents, when seeding etc. one of the reasons I refuse to use them.

They said in a news article that megaupload was like the 13th most visited site on the internet at one point? Generating like $150m in revenue etc, theyve arrested people in like 4 different countries though with a few still at large.

I dont know how they lasted so long to be honest, when you think every single pirated film, dvd, cd etc is hosted on THERE servers in the USA they were asking for trouble, when you see film websites, that actaully dont hold any data on there servers they just link to them and they still get shut down, I expect a few others to follow, America are absolute fucks the goverment is full of retards, possibly more retarded than ours, infact alot more.

Time for me to look into newsgroups I think, are they gonna be here to stay for a few years?

They're a tougher nut to crack from a copyright infringement point of view.

The reason torrents are being targeted is because they are an unsecured medium and, as matt suggested above, they're within jurisdiction.

Usenet is a whole other problem. Add in SSL encryption, enhanced tunnelling and maybe a VPN connection... and it's not clear to me how that will be combated in the immediate future.

Im itching to post that clip that was on a BBC one documentary about the barras. Im pretty sure I posted it on here when the show was on last year. Something to do with sellling fake fags and some wide wee guy starts shouting at a bbc camera man saying "come on big yin".

Cant be fucked searching for it, but its funny as fuck.

"Unable to get to me, he goes for the crew"

This is like a nature documentary done on Scottish people LOL

That's exactly what it is lol. The Barras is great. Jakey mecca. You can literally buy anything there, from MXE & aMT to BB guns to fake Air Max to Nazi memorabilia to pirate DVDs & dodgy snout. They've got the lot. There's also butchers vans where a guy stands with a mic & rambles some utter gibberish then throws some meat at one of the people standing watching, they then pay him, I've never been able to work out what is actually happening other than it's some sort of meat auction done in a special language that I was never taught.

My grandpa used to have a construction business. He said you'd get your yard done over on a Thursday, all your tools etc nicked, then go down The Barras at the weekend & buy them back haha.
