Open Discussion [MEGA] Mobile version of Bluelight?

My phone runs pretty old Android 2.1 and I use the Opera browser which works fine for Bluelight and any other website I visit.
 
Looking forward to future news. It'd be nice to browse Bluelight on my android, preferably through an App of some kind, but hey I'm not gonna be picky :p
 
i'm a bit curious, those of you with smartphones, what is your issue browsing/posting BL from a browser? preference? things not rendering correctly? some other annoyance?

other than it being a pain in the ass to have long quoted posts and my phone's desire to use capital letters, i don't mind posting basic things from my phone. modding is slightly more tricky but i can't imagine a mobile skin helping much with that. fwiw, i check facebook more often from my phone's browser than i do the facebook app...
 
I came over here to make a thread about needing a mobile sit since the la upgrade and I'm glad to see other people already agree...itsblike since the upgrade the site loads really slow and most of the time it will load the page and it doesn't show he text or anything unless I touch the screen a little and then it appears..

That prolly doesn't make much sense but its hard to explain..like the site will be loaded completly but there's nothing on the screen and then I touch my touchscreen and it all apprear and the ill scroll down and again it goes bllank and I have to wait a second and touch the screen and then sometimes it will pop up..making viewing this site sometime impossible

A few things are a bit of a bollocks when using a mobile imo. 1 being that sometimes the page can take a while to load up if your connection isn't the best or even if it is the best it can take 10 seconds to load, and that's not very good if yóur trying to search for something or flick through pages.
Another thing is that ibecause of the width of the page you have to scroll left to right constantly to read others posts.
You can't quote multiple people in a post
You can't skim read if looking for info
Searching can be a pain in the ass
Pictures and writing and whatnot can overlap sometimes especielly at the top right hand side of the page the search bar always overlaps notifications, user cp ect ect...

Its just shitty and slow and annoying lol
 
i use skyfire or opera dolphin hd on my phone, both which render pages to the screen size eliminating the need to scroll left and write. thanks for answering tho :)

^ I'm confused... do you not need to zoom in or out either? either you've got a massive phone or I'm missing something here. :)
 
I've got Opera Mini on my iPhone, and it still needs quite a bit of zooming and panning and scrolling. but I think I get what you mean, it does handle things a bit better than Safari. hmmm.
 
^dolphin browser automatically makes the text fit on the screen. i suppose i have to do a bit of scrolling if i want to see who posted when i am using my phone vertically. but if i turn my phone horizontal i can see everything fine with no scrolling.

If you set opera to format everything to the mobile version, BL displays well without needing zooming and panning in opera mini.

EDIT: which is what tambo just said :p
 
I just wanted to say I really miss the mobile version of Bluelight as well. Even though I have a HTC Thunderbolt and 4G its still challenging to render on my phone and zooming in and out takes a bit to load. Hopefully one say it will be back!
 
Actually the better question to ask is if Tapatalk can be used with Bluelight? Awesome app!
 
Mobile skin is due soon. Will be there post-upgrade. Beta version was tested last week.

Apps are a separate (but related) issue. Unlikely to implement any subsidised app unless we can see a way of having complete control over any advertisements.

Same tambo, thanks for the update, I have barely been using BL in the past couple of months because of no mobile version and my shitty blackberry can't download new browsers such as opera.
I hope to see the mobile version soon, I love BL...
 
Fuck, disregard my last post. I was trying to download opera through my blackberry app world I didn't realise yóu needed to go to their website. This opera mini shit is fucking amazing everything is so much faster and easier to use + I can open more than one tab, the homescreen is pinned websites and it just generally works and looks so much better

Everyone using BL on a mobile should use opera mini!!
 
As of today's point upgrade, two new mobile themes are available for use - each with their own features and limitations.

You can access these in the drop-down menu at the bottom-left of the site.

Our staff testing (along with recent comments above) indicate that many people simply opt to use the full version of websites with or without Opera's 'mobile view' feature. For those with the hardware and data plans to do so, we acknowledge that may be your best option. However, enough people have asked (and waited for) a dedicated mobile theme for us to provide something.

The normal Mobile theme is a jScript theme that will be developed by vBulletin.

The Mobile Lite theme is simply a very stripped-down theme with basic posting functionality (same as what was used when the site ran vB3.x).

Constructive feedback is welcome.
