[MEGA] Every Year's Community Growing advice, tips, tricks, & experiences

I don't think it's light bleaching that's causing the severe chlorosis (aka yellowing in plain English). The tops look like they could possibly be a bit scorched, but it's hard to tell whether that's from the lights being too close. I doubt it if I'm truly honest though. But hey, you never know what the issue could be at the end of the day.

Edit:if some plants are only 8" then that's too close mate.

Prelude, are you able to give EC readings as opposed to ppm? Or does your meter only read in ppm units? There's no 'set' ppm you should be giving your plants.

Prelude, feed your plants at 50% the "regular" dose now at every feeding. Otherwise you might end up at square one again.

Yep, 3 bags is good enough. Large 5 gal bucket (Home Depot), water and plenty of ice. Stir for about 30-40 mins, then take out first bag...throw out that crap, keep stuff from 2nd bag and the cream of the crop is the last bag!! Then we usually do a 2nd spin and still get plenty of primo trich's.

Last time I made bubble hash from my trim, my buddy helped me (as it was my first time making it), plus we split the cost of the bags..they were $80. I wound up with 16 grams of yummy blonde bubble hash :)

The mistake alot of people make is pressing the hash right away...BIG MISTAKE..all you are doing is pushing the moisture into the hash which makes it take much longer to dry. INSTEAD...

I scraped everything out of the bags onto a plate and chopped it up into little bits..almost as if you are chopping up an oxy or coke or something..just basically get the glob into a bunch of tiny pieces and spread it out all over the plate...let it dry for a few days... then a really important part...

Take all the dried pieces of your hash and stick it in a plastic bag (depending on how much you have a ziplock sandwich bag will suffice...run it under hot water..this will melt all the dried hash together..work the hash with your fingers as it is under the hot water so it is all mushed together...then stick the bag directly into the freezer for a while...the hash will come right out of the plastic bag in one huge beautiful piece!!! :)

Where did you get your bags from? Were they brand name or knock offs? I'm tempted to buy Ebay knock offs but I worry about quality issues for obvious reasons.

Prelude, can you clarify something for me. You flushed to remove excess nutrient salts in the rootzone and then continued using the same dose of nutrient you were using prior to flushing? Is this correct?

No, I used less Tiger bloom and more big bloom, as tiger bloom was a bit too acidic, and I went half on the micronutes, 1/4 of what I was using on tiger bloom, and about 3table spoons of BB,

And none of my plants are 8'' tall, they are all about 12-14 now, and the light is about 8'' away from the plant closest to the light, the rest of them are around 10-12 inches away,

I would just water with plain water/RO water with no nutrients (this is not the same as flushing as you probably know). Then after about week assess the plants' health. This is assuming it's not just a simple deficiency problem, mind you.

So you both thing its light bleaching?
Because I really really thought it was a nute problem,
weird that the plants went yellow from top fan leaves , to bottom fan leaves then the buds.
Anywho, I'll give it a shot.
RO water it is.
Should I water from the top, or let them sit in the water for 15 minutes like usual and pour the rest on top

The top photo seems as if there's some light burns at the top. I think you're having nutrient issues too though. 8" is too close.

Water from the top until slight run off, let it soak in the run off for five minutes and then leave it until slightly dry.

8 inches is just the top of oneplant, most of them are further away, as I couldnt center them all under the bulb,
The tops of most of the other plants Are about 10-12 inches away, I guess the do look a little better than the tops.
Thanks for the advice, hope it helps my girls.

Hey guys! How have y'all been? I've took a break from posting and stuff..been busy as hell with everything...life in general and the last harvest was amazing....i got so goddamn sick of clipping though...ofcourse it's a good problem to have :-D

AE, personally, I hang my plants (atleast the indoor ones)..they are too beautiful to risk having them lie flat on a screen, even if you turn them regularly...gravity works against you and you will have some flatness to your buds.

I saved all my trim and have a big brown paper bag stuffed full...once they were dry and crispy, I put them in the fridge..now the bag will sit there until I get time to make bubble hash. Keeping the trim in the fridge allows the trichomes to break away from the leaves easier once you start the bubble hash process. They break away anyway from all the ICE water and stirring, but if the trichomes are already near frozen, they just seperate from the leaves easier.

Anyway, other than that..This thread is lacking pics...I would like to see some growth pics if possible..from everyone :) Last time AE, yours were little seedlings, I am sure they are coming along well now.

I will get some pics up asap. I will be switching from MH to the HPS and going to 12/12 any day now... WHOO HOO cycle number two is under way!!!

I really wish I can pass around a fatty of my Sour D to everyone in this thread...it's so goddamn tasty I surprised myself, stuff gets my high as fuck that I find myself giggling at stupid shit..haha....normally I don't pat myself on the back, BUT this time...holy shit this stuff came out TITS!!

I'll try and get some photos up when I get my main PC fixed (I'm worried about them snooping on my hard drive so don't know how I'm going to arrange for it to be repaired). They've certainly come along really well! They're slowly filling out the scrog net and look good for only 3 plants. The growth rate is just getting faster and faster as the plants out down more roots.

I'm glad I'm doing an NFT grow as opposed to a soil grow. To be honest, my soil grows were like watching paint dry in comparison!

hey agen, back with another question.
plants are looking great, all moved into larger pots now. but i am using a 400watt hps-MH conversion globe. i was sitting in my box and i could hear the globe making sizzling type noises even after 2 hours of being on.
closer examination the globe has a slight tinge of green in the main probe point?? also wround the base of the globe, where it connects to the glass, on the inside, it appears that there is rust in there!!
dont know what you guys are thinking but seems like there is moisture in there?? sound normal to anyone?? all my hps globes are a nice shiny silver and i still got this globe brand new outa the box

^ can you return it for peace of mind at least, even if it works fine?

i highly doubt it, unfortunately here in adelaide they have banned items such as HID lights and carbon filters making them harder to source
unfortunately id probably have to drive about 10 hours to ask for a refund.
one positive is the plants are looking great, maybe i just got a special one........
honestly dont think ima risk it, might use a hps globe just incase.

EC1.9-2.2 is too high for soil I think you should stop messing around with all these additives and just use a base nutrient for flowering, less is more, keep it simple!

I second that. I wouldn't even go for a non-organic mineral salt fertilizer which is what you're using, Prelude. If you're going to grow in soil, you may as well take advantage and go organic. I kinda think growing with mineral salt fertilizers defeats the point if growing in soil anyway, unless it's a ghetto grow and just want weed any old how, but maybe that's just me.

If you just switched to straight organic fertilizers you would be less likely to have these very problems with burning your plants or causing lockout anyway (that's not to say it's impossible to happen, but you my drift).

Edit: sorry if I sound like I'm preaching. I don't mean to - I'm just sharing my opinions/philosophy. I don't mean to critisize your methods. I'm trying to be constructive, so please don't take offence :)

Shit, that's crazy. Apart from what you mentioned, does it give out light as normal?

I don't see how they can ban streetlight/factory light technology or filters routinely used in hospitals etc. That sounds draconian. Where is aldeheid, communist China?

yeah it gives out great light, almost better than most standard MH lamps that i have seen, its only a cheaper, 'powerplant globe' ill be sure to take photos when i get off my lazy arse.

yeah i know its terrible, it was introduced earlier this year!! hydro shops are banned from retailing these products and certain electrical shops will sell these things, but you need to supply 100 points of identification, in saying that you'll more than likely have the feds knockin at your door. better off saving up and buying bulk from our fellow states, even some leading brand nutrients have been banned for sale.

Doh! Sorry, I just assumed, considering the vast majority of people who post are from the US for whatever reason. Still, it's not surprising, I've heard Aus is quite backward when it comes to drugs, in comparison with many European countries.
