[MEGA] Every Year's Community Growing advice, tips, tricks, & experiences

Part of the reason I think they're a waste of time is because, you can take a clone, veg it for 7 days or less and flip to 12/12 and get even more bud. This is how sog grows are done as you know. So I don't think there's a need really to dilute the indica/sativa genetics we already have available. I consider them to be more of a novelty rather than anything else.

I'm not a fan of Jorge Cervantes as you may or may not know. I do however have (or have had =D) one of his books in actual fact that I bought ages ago.

Hey guys so I'm trying my hand at growing. These are my first plants. Just kind of thrown together. The two in the mismatched pots are bagseed and the three in the blue cups are Blue Dream clones. Anyway, they've had a hard few weeks of life. I thought, at one point that the clones had spidermites but upon reflection I may have just been paranoid. But before the paranoia was gone the pyrethrum spray had already been liberally applied. I think this cause most of the burns and weird shaped leaves but since then I've also had some other things pop up.

I've been looking around trying to find out what's going on but I thought I would ask you guys just in case it immediately pops out at one of you.

The sad looking thing in the green pot is another bagseed that I think I over-watered. They are all sitting in 100% FFOF, no pearlite or anything added. I know I know. I started these before everything was really ready. Temperatures range from 73F - 84F though some days going as high as the 90s for hours at a time :(. Well anyways anyone have any ideas/criticisms/questions?

Looks like a nice little community here. :)

Yes it's indoors. It's a big cabinet inside of a garage.

Here is a rough sketch of part of the setup.

That doesn't look like paranoia to me man. That looks like the remnants a start of a mite infestation. Those small white almost swirling shape on top of the leaf is most definitely a sign of spider mites. I would continue to keep an eye out for them, it looks like you might have had some.

^ Right on. I've since sprayed everything down with the pyrethrum spray and put a hot shots no pest strip in there as well.

If the spray is what burned your girls, you can dilute by adding more water and it should still be very effective against the mites. Mites' eggs take 3-6 days to hatch, so sometimes it takes awhile to know if you have gotten rid of them. If your problem worsens, let us know, there are definitely a few of us here familiar with advanced spider mite control :)

On the first and second photos I can see what looks like nutrient burn.

It's hard to tell though mate.

Here's a picture of a fun/novelty grow. It's a Reserva Privada Kandy Kush plant and is in fytocell. I've just been watering it daily. It's so easy to grow it's unreal!

All I've had to do is bung a half litre of RO water in a measuring jug, add 0.5ml GHE floramicro and 1ml GHE florabloom along with some root stim and water after pH adjustment. Works like a charm and will yield just as much as fancy, expensive systems. I'm thinking of making a dripper system to water a whole load of fytocell hempy buckets so that I can leave it for days at a time without having to do anything whatsoever. Growing should be easy and fun, not a chore.

if i were to stick a clone in my backyard and water it as much as needed. as well as making sure the sunlight ration was ok, would i get some pretty good bud?

fucking spider mites

die!

^depends on a lot of factors! Get some decent compost and pot up a few times, water using the correct techniqe (there is one you know), then yes, maybe. However, of course you know, we can't predict the future.

Increasing the RH to 80-90% for a few days and spraying with neem oil as well as garlic will help get rid of spider mites.

Make sure not to spray with pyrethrum more than twice per week and spray the underside of the leaves as well.

If you have CO2, using toxic levels of this is a great way of killing them, but obviously don't go out and buy a CO2 system just for SMs.

Going in there and actually spraying with water every day on both sides of the leaves also helps, although doing it for too long can encourage mold.

^ The problem with those products is CO2 output is wildly out of control and is not regulated in any way. CO2 levels need to be kept within a narrow range of 1200-1500ppm. Sustaining these levels just isn't possible without conventional CO2 enrichment. People don't realise it but improving your extraction will improve CO2 levels since plants take up CO2 from the atmosphere rapidly. This is why without extraction your plants will either die or will be severely stunted. So, for your specific room and light size, get a decent extraction system and you'll improve CO2 levels and get much better growth.

chronic bubonic. The weed may have been satisfactory to you, but that's besides the point really. There's no need for ruderalis genetics. There's no need for any of the attributes offered by autoflowering cannabis. I just don't see the point really. I'll take normal weed any day, thanks.

I've not seen anything to convince me growing autoflowering cannabis is worth growing. Personally I think it's a waste of time. Granted, I've never grown any, but to be honest I have no intention of doing so anyway given what I already know about these strains. Like I've said before if you missed it, they may have a place outdoors (growing in a greenhouse I class as outdoors). However, indoors is completely different.

cheers, yeah the full blown c02 regulators and controllers are very very pricey and effective in larger opperations, but for me ill be looking at the air flow just to make it perfect ya know!!
i am looking into a double inlet ventilation, getting brought in via a nice powerful can fan should give the girls some nice fresh air to play with,
in saying that a very powerful carbon filter on top too take out the fresh air onces their done playing with it.

worst things with these hydroponic fans are they are so fuckin loud, even with the silencers they are so damn noisy, cant imagine how loud two of the bitches will be

Absolutely.

Fuck spending money on silencers etc. Leepy box it.

This involves getting a small box the fan fits in and surrounding the inside of the box with foam around the fan. You can protect the fan with seran rap and this technique will kill say 85% of the noise, as a rough estimate. Other precautions like acoustic ducting or a DIY silencer (a baby could make one, it's so easy) will kill the other 10% or so you can deal with. The last 5% will be inaudible in the next room.

I've got a pretty good system now and I'd like to try my hand at sativas. Have any of you tried or grown any of the arjan line? Specifically arjan's haze 1 and 3, possibly arjan's ultra haze 1.

Don't think I can post the breeder here so I won't.

great idea.... yeah the silencers are very expensive. luckily with the carbon filter it was included in a package.
i must try a leepy box see how that goes.

It's greenhouse seeds, so I would avoid it. If you want the original Greenhouse seeds from which the company built it's reputation, buy from Mr Nice seeds.

Greenhouse seeds (the form it's in today, without the main breeder who left Arjan after his dishonest business practices started to be an issue) buy Cannabis Cup prizes.

Greenhouse seeds also go hermie far too often for it to not be an issue with the breeder. Hell, I wouldn't even call what they do breeding anymore. It's more akin to 'hacking' instead.

Just want to say that friends here have grown alot of super lemon haze from GHS and have only had a couple hermies here and there out of hundreds of plants. GHS makes some killer strains. Also have spoken to many other growers who have found lots of keepers from greenhouse and zero problems with hermies. So I would not neccesarily avoid ghs, give it a try and see if you like it.

I ordered Snow White (white widow X unnamed American Indica) seeds from Nirvana and they hermie like crazy..probably because I chose feminized and they have unstable strains..that is the last time I do that again!! Besides, the sour diesel I have is tough to beat..nothing I've seen recently comes close to the taste or potency of the real SourD! From what I have heard though, is that TH Seeds puts out some really great stable genetics..if you are ordering in the USA, they will not ship, you gotta go through The Attitude Seed Bank.
