@Aveoturbo--so sorry that you lost your sweet dog. They are a huge part of our lives.<3 They give in a way that we humans have a hard time matching.

Thanks Herbavore, you are most definitely right. I didnt think I could become so attached to an animal until this last Thursday. Now I am going to treasure the moments I get with my little lap dog just a bit more. Its really a hard decision to make to put your pet down, but she was in alot of misery. She would have been 11 this November 1st.

@Mazey:
That black and white pooch is beautiful! And the little one is cute too! I love dogs that have the longer snout. I dont know why.

I don't think he fought with a coon...those fuckers would have clawed his face off.
Perhaps stuck his head in a squirrel hole or caught a bird who pecked the fuck out of him.

No more unsupervised outdoor play for BillyReuben. I fear nature and its wrath on my wallet.

Now what we said in September for strictly outdoor cat that we got fixed a couple of weeks ago lives in the basement with the other one we rescued from the dump a year ago.

Tink and Remy get along great. Billy gets along with neither so he stays upstairs.
We had to rip up the carpet in the basement and replace it with flooring as BILLY territorial pissed everywhere.
Now Tink the new guy has figured out to piss in the litter box but not shit.

This is Logan who hasn't had any issues except you can't touch him. 50% chance he will bite.

NO MORE PETS.

sweet!

I caved. BillyReuben is back outside during the day when he wants to go. Tink is let out in the mornings if the weather is nice.

i want a puppy

my lab is getting old. he's the freakin best, but i know that time is not on his side.

i've always said that i want to get a puppy while he's in his later years to hopefully rub some of his good traits off on the puppy and possibly extend his own life by having a puppy around.

problem...i work. all day. i'm gone from 7:30am until 6 or 6:30pm monday through friday, and i'm pretty far from home so going home for lunch everyday is out of the question.

i was in college with room mates when i raised my lab, so if it wasn't me, someone was always around to keep him entertained. now that he's 11 and old, he's fine laying around the house all day.

so. i was thinking. if i were to get a puppy, i could keep him in my kitchen with toys, bed, water and all that shit that puppies love....but he'd be there all day while i'm at work. i don't really want to cage train him, mainly because i didn't cage train my current dog, and don't really like the idea in general. not to mention, the dog would probably be better off in a decent sized kitchen than in a cage all day.

i realize the puppy is going to shit and piss all over the kitchen floor while i'm at work...but, i guess my question is....is this a bad idea? do you think keeping a puppy inside most of the day while you're at work is bad for the dog? what other options would i have? i don't have a big fenced in yard that he could chill in or anything like that.

thoughts? i need drug addicts opinions on this.
