[MEGA] Cannabis Addiction & Withdrawal

in my experience, smoking that much tends to make both life and marijuana very boring.

of course you can. the physical component isn't nearly as severe as with drugs like benzos or opioids, but there are a lot of habitual smokers who have difficulty reducing their use even when it is obviously causing negative consequences in their lives. frankly, i think the impression that marijuana is harmless makes the psychological component of addiction that much stronger.

Well said

i say yes. i haven't been smoking, but anytime i am on other drugs i always would love a puff. fiendishly

edit: for me it is the fact i WANT to the do "act" of smoking, cannabis just happens to have effects i relate with afterwards .

if there was no such thing as smoking and only edibles it'd be entirely different story!

ROA matters a lot to me, just like insufflating or i.v. something. the rush gets yeh

Short answer, yes.

Now go look at how addiction is defined and see if your friend meets those set of criteria.

People tend to think its not possible with weed, but it is.

I'm addicted to weed. Primarily because I've formed a heavy habit of smoking, so my tolerance is extremely high and I don't enjoy being sober. I've "quit" many times but always find myself with a pipe in my hand at some point. I depend on it heavily because when I go for prolonged periods of time without smoking (as in two weeks or less), I experience uncued panic attacks. Weed helps my anxiety immensely.

cannabis can cause a physical dependency and an addiction.

this is all well documented; as for the addiction part, well you have some other issues if you have an actual addiction (by definition) to cannabis. The physical withdrawal pales in comparison to a real withdrawal, i know people argue this but fuck if i had the money i'd fly every person that argued this over to my place and feed them benzos and opiates for a year then cut them off and then gather their opinions afterwards. And as for addicting, i'd feed them amphetamines for a few months and then cut them off, then they'll know the true meaning of a craving.

Id say so. When I started smoking weed I had serious problems. It was my only refuge and other than sniffing glue and huffing gas. I dont think you should give dude a hard time. He might be having a rough go at things. I certainly wouldnt argue with him about it. I managed to smoke pot everyday since middle school until I got on probation for the first time so yeah I wasnt about to quit smoking. Of course drugs like heroin and pills are really fucking addictive and dude wouldnt be able to hold a conversation with you if he was feinding, but yeah pot gets a hold of you mentally, especially if you have problems in your life.

True. Generally the consensus is that marijuana can produce a comparably mild addiction. I have been through it and it was hellacious.

I know some people don't experience any withdrawal from cannabis but some people claim not to experience benzo withdrawal. So it's definitely individualized.

Id get seziure if I went a day without benzos. Im prescribed 6 mg of klonopin which I actually need. Ive had a lifelong panic disorder and the klonopin sorted it right out. Ive always had nasty anxiety. I have seen other people without their benzos and its ugly. Usually people with benzo habits will make sure they dont run out. Its also rather cheap to purchase and one is a good as the next in the right dose. They also show up the same on drug screens even the 600 dollar pain management ones.

Sure you can be addicted to marijuana. Hell, when most stop smoking chronically after doing so for awhile they will often experience insomnia, lack of appetite, cravings etc etc. Most pleasure inducing activities are addictive in some way. There have been periods of my life where I sure as hell found it hard to quit smoking weed.

We can get addicted to the act of eating (I am not, but its easy to see how that could happen).

The habit forming characteristics of weed is what can make it so "addictive". Cigarettes/nicotine are a lot more addictive by comparison.

So ive been smoking weed for the past 5 months straight and ive stopped because i want to quit.

However i notice that ive been sweating like crazy!

I can be at work and ill just start sweating, in bed watching tv, around the house, playing on the computer and my hands on the mouse dripping wet. Also all down my back etc...

its driving me nuts

Is this normal to be sweating like this when quitting weed and how long should it last? Ive been off it for 5 days so far.....

Hey dude! First let me say that all these rookie smokers DO NOT know what they're talking about....some people just like to run their mouths not knowing the facts. I just turned 30 and I've been smoking everday all day since I was 12 years old!I grew up in Portland Oregon and I now live in Las Vegas and I'm going to blackjack/craps dealing school so I had to quit (the brain must be sharp)....plus I am brand new father and my boy deserves the best Dad possible. Even though Im still smart when smoking, I am smarter when I'm not. That being said: Marijuana can be VERY addicting depending on the build up resin you have in your body. Even when I was smoking I would get cold sweats only 5 or 6 hours after my last b-hit! It is your body releasing Toxins because it doesn't have any more coming in. Out of all my symptoms the sweats are by far the worst. So just because other people don't feel it doesn't mean it doesn't happen.everyone is different take it from me (a hardcore stoner for the past 18 years straight!)I've had head Sweats, Insomnia,SEVERE head aches and a weak appetite......but no impotency thanks to my beautiful fiancee:-D . Good luck to all that are trying quit! I do believe that ganja is harmless but of course you can do better in life without it. And most of all don't listen to the hype.... This is the internet and MOST posters/bloggers do not care about your well-being and they know that they are not going to be held accountable for the false info they spew out.

You cant be too sharp youre replying to a 3 year old thread.

Basically, you just decided to have a pissing contest with yourself and came out on top even though you dribbled down the front of your pants. A+

And we need to make endless new threads instead of continuing an old discussion in the original thread? To what end?

Master Vampire has not been in this thread in nearly 4 years. I'm quite confident that he's successfully overcome or learned to live with his "sobriety sweats," and all shinobi's post accomplishes is an attempt to belittle other members, dicksize his smoking habits and to make concrete claims without evidence. I'd say if there's anyone in this thread who doesn't care about the people they're conversing with, it's shinobi420.

Hey shinobi, you know what harm reduction means, right? So even if "most of the internet" feels as you describe, being a member of Bluelight inherently implies that the individuals on this forum are most certainly concerned with the well-being of people we're able to see ourselves in.

Please refrain from pretending to know the people you're speaking about. I don't care if you've lurked for a decade plus or spontaneously signed up today because of StumbleUpon. If you think anybody here is spouting off unverified misinformation, how exactly is more of the same coming from an unknown shinobi420 going to do anything but perpetuate the problem that only you seem to see here?

Hey weekend, you kind of see why it's frowned upon to revive old threads that should've long ago been archived now? The only way this guy built his credibility was to attack that of everyone else in this thread, in a sense saying "I'm right and you're wrong. I'm big and you're little." This is a response to a several year old question I'm sure long ago resolved-- advice for Master Vampire seems wholly unnecessary at the moment, but if he were to swoop into this thread and tell me to fuck off I'd be more than happy to.
