I don't really think talking in the third person is the issue here...Who really gives a fuck how people get their point of view across...hell, Becker wouldn't be the show that it is without Bob, he is the third person personified!
So if talking in the third person does it for you, and you have something of substance to contribute, go for your life I say!
With regards to the oldskool, newskool, blah blah blah and the clickyness associated with it...sorry guys, but from my observations, it's always been there, and (most likely) always will be. I have been reading Bluelight for close on 2 years now (lurked for a few months before upgrading to a 'registered lurker' hehe), and I’ve barely even made it past greenlighter status! (although I was using a diff alias for a while..) Granted, this is largely due to the fact that I'm shy as all fuck, but in the whole time I've been here, there has never been a point in time where I have felt comfortable in becoming a regular poster, mainly due to the clicky factor that has always been apparent (to me anyway..). This means I often avoid the social forum, but in the Bluelight scheme of things, this really isn't any great loss - I am still able to obtain the info that Bluelight is here to provide in the first place - so it's all good!
The way I see it, this is a case of the 'oldskool' people feeling somewhat overshadowed by the newer crew, and the said newer crew are perhaps more dominant (and therefore overbearing according to the oldies) simply because there's more of them hanging out together. Bluelight is expanding every day and the new ppl some to be hanging out in larger numbers than previously encountered - therefore it's only natural that the 'clicky posting' is more noticeable. But it's evolution baby!! If we all hung out together all the time, the whole forum would be one big 'in-joke' and no one would have a problem with it!
Anyway - what am I trying to say? Fucked if I know!! Actually, I do know...I say ditch Social and the sh!t associated with it and get back to basics – informing and educating! But that’s a whole different debate!
