/me thinks talking in the third person is getting overused

*Bunny stands in front of whole bluelight crowd*
Tell me honestly guys. Please answer honestly and too the point.
1: Does my *third person* really bother you that much
2: Do you think I post too much absolute bullshit.
3: If I stopped posting so much, would bluelight be a better place?
4: Is this thread directed towards me. Maybe my drug taking has made me paranoid.. But I get the feeling you guys hate me.
*sobs*
*shuffles of to bedroom and slams door*

well I have to do it since I never post no more
*waves at everyone* I do still love you all.. but I must admit even when I look into Bluelight I have no idea of what some of the threads are about..
Oh well see you in another few monts.

Bunny no one here hates you dude, and it wasn't just you going overboard.
This board was just getting a bit cliquey lately, I'm sure I'm as guilty as hell too, but I also do realise that this social forum isn't about our private in group jokes (just imagine what it would look like to newcomers and the oldskoolers that don't post anymore).
I like some of the jokes here, but I want more of the mid skool - old skool BLters to come back and post again, as well as newbies and lurkers to post as well.
I guess what I'm trying to say is for everyone to please cut down the 3rd person talking and the cliquey jokes, and maybe start some more discussions that everyone can join into. That's what this forum is about afterall.
P.S- Bunny don't stress about this too much, it's not personal

.

Bunny, I can say without any doubt and with complete honesty that I really didn't even have you in mind when I started this thread. What I have written has been on my mind for a while now, but I can assure you that it's not directed at you and you alone. That said, it's not not pointed to you, but it is in just as much capacity as it's pointed at anyone else (and yes, I'm going to enter that one into the "sentence of the year" contest
wink.gif
).
We are all guilty, myself included. I want everyone to cut back, once again myself included. And I don't think there's been a single person here that hasn't made a totally useless post at least once at some time.
I know it seems like this is directed at you Bunny, because you've been lumped with the stereotype of "post whore" (a title which I think was true a while ago, but is not so much anymore) and it's stuck. But please take my word that this was not a personal attack.
smile.gif

This is getting out of control now, and my point is still pretty simple - think before you post. That's all.

"I can assure you that it's not directed at you and you alone. That said, it's not not pointed to you, but it is in just as much capacity as it's pointed at anyone else"
That's a thinker.
Thanks guys. But seeing as so many of you are getting pissed off, I have decided to retire.
I will watch with much anticipation, but no more posts from bunny boy
*waits for people to rush in and say NO NO BUNNY ... WE LOVE YOUR WITTY HUMOUR AND THIRD PERSON ANTICS.. COME BACK*

No act is evil if you do it with a smile!

Nobody is asking anybody to stop posting. As Pleo mentioned, blufluffybunny, it applies to you as much as it does to me.
What we are asking is for people to stop monopolising boards for their personal discussions. Bluelight is one of a kind. We all know that. You can debate the validity of the Social Forum until you are blue in the face, but the familiarity that the Social forums add is undoubtedly one of the reasons why it is special.
But in it's current format, it's being treated as the personal domain of about 20 people. Threads that are started sensibly get sidetracked into back and forwards discussions between the same Bluelighters. People are showing the same lack of judgement as those that have posted personal details, and comments about possession of drugs.
The use of the third person perspective is valid, and in some cases even funny. Used over and over again it just looks plain attention seeking.
But please, if you are to post, please consider that this is a public board, and when you post, you are effectively speaking in a conversation. Try not to turn everybody else's conversation into YOUR post.
cheers

blubuffbunny> U GET UR ARSE BACK IN HERE, OR I'LL.....

*IN THIRD PERSON does the mum thing and stands with hands on hips, tapping foot, while giving bunny a threatening look*

*runs in and grabs bunny by the collar*
Its gonna be like that is it?!!?!?!?!?!?
*throws bunny to the ground, swears to never use third person again*
Pleo - im backing u all the way baby!

reading this thread just makes me realise who i respect, and who i dont, and who understands what Bluelight is, and who just likes the sound of their own voice.
as has been pointed out this isnt a democracy. i am sorely tempted to cut off certain peoples posting priveleges, just so we can get so damn quiet, and BFB you're first on my list...

I don't really think talking in the third person is the issue here...Who really gives a fuck how people get their point of view across...hell, Becker wouldn't be the show that it is without Bob, he is the third person personified!
smile.gif
So if talking in the third person does it for you, and you have something of substance to contribute, go for your life I say!
With regards to the oldskool, newskool, blah blah blah and the clickyness associated with it...sorry guys, but from my observations, it's always been there, and (most likely) always will be. I have been reading Bluelight for close on 2 years now (lurked for a few months before upgrading to a 'registered lurker' hehe), and I’ve barely even made it past greenlighter status! (although I was using a diff alias for a while..) Granted, this is largely due to the fact that I'm shy as all fuck, but in the whole time I've been here, there has never been a point in time where I have felt comfortable in becoming a regular poster, mainly due to the clicky factor that has always been apparent (to me anyway..). This means I often avoid the social forum, but in the Bluelight scheme of things, this really isn't any great loss - I am still able to obtain the info that Bluelight is here to provide in the first place - so it's all good!
The way I see it, this is a case of the 'oldskool' people feeling somewhat overshadowed by the newer crew, and the said newer crew are perhaps more dominant (and therefore overbearing according to the oldies) simply because there's more of them hanging out together. Bluelight is expanding every day and the new ppl some to be hanging out in larger numbers than previously encountered - therefore it's only natural that the 'clicky posting' is more noticeable. But it's evolution baby!! If we all hung out together all the time, the whole forum would be one big 'in-joke' and no one would have a problem with it!
Anyway - what am I trying to say? Fucked if I know!! Actually, I do know...I say ditch Social and the sh!t associated with it and get back to basics – informing and educating! But that’s a whole different debate!

Ahhh.. Johnboy.. that post above you is RushingRococco.
not me.
And dont single me out! Im not doing anything worse than anyone else here.
"as has been pointed out this isnt a democracy. i am sorely tempted to cut off certain peoples posting priveleges, just so we can get so damn quiet, and BFB you're first on my list..."
Man, Im sorry if my sense of humour has pissed you off to the point you feel you need to block me from posting. For the record.
IM SORRY.
But do what you must Johnboy.....
I will bow out gracefully.

Yes... i know there's been an intense amount of bullshit posting in Aus Social... but isn't that what Social is really for? to get the crap out of people so they can post intelligently in Drug Discussion etc...
that's just my 2cents...

Plazma: No, its not here for people to whatever bullshit they want... It was started to help get meetups and drug discussion more centred on doing what they were intended...
Read the guidelines, particularly these points:
This is not a chat site.
Though it is tempting to be social, chat cannot be accepted. Too many people are
making personal posts which only bear relevance to one or two other people.
That's what email and ICQ is for. To a small extent it will be tolerated, but
its in the interests of all Bluelighters, particularly those who have just
joined Bluelight that we leave chat out.
As long as it's not something which you know people may
find offensive, and it's something people can actually contribute to, then it
will be acceptable.

what has happened on this board in the past, has happened. i suggest instead of justifying what we do now by looking back at what used to go on, we look forwards and try to make this forum really worthwhile, something that everyone can get something out of, that anyone can contribute to, if they wish.

Mike&Sam and all the mods here,
Can you all remember the amt of debate that went ard exactly a year ago before a decision was made for a 3rd forum to come up?
I think we all agreed that as long as the current culture of the board remained and quality of ppl coming thru here remained constant, then things shldn't get out of hand. true?
I think the oldies (pre-social) tend to get more agitated and worked up because of the sheer amount of rubbish that we have to sieve through.
Without going into a old skool new skool argument, what were we doing last time that was mebbe better than now?
1) Thinking and taking time to construct our replies before hitting the send button
2) going back and editing the ORIGINAL post instead of posting a NEW reply
3) Posting more than one line of garbage that the previous 5 ppl on top has said
----> and personally i think what forced us to do that was due to Johnboy's Nazi methods of clamping down hard on us (Its a compliment BTW)
Perhaps its time for STRICT enforcement of rules again? And perhaps then we can see the quality of posts going up.
Thanks for listening if you have read so far. my 1.5 cents worth.
P.S. On a personal note, can i say that the ppl here are not as polite and nice as previously? And this has got NOTHING to do with PLUR or my perception in life.
