MDMA Lingering Effect/Pretty Worried: constant tingling sensation, 4-5 days post use

This past Saturday night, almost 5 days ago now, I took a dose of what was sold as "molly", so presumably, pure MDMA or whatever substitutions are sold as MDMA...who can really say. It was in a capsule. I wasn't able to inspect it due to darkness and time/setting constraints. But I'm digressing so...

Within 25 minutes of taking it, I was feeling it very intensely, to the point that I felt unable to maintain control over basic things, like dispensing an item into my purse. Just prior to this, my boyfriend had said we would begin to feel it around 30 minutes in. The passage of time was one of the major and immediate things to warp, seeing as by 25 minutes in, it was a shit show.

I hadn't eaten much that day, and started feeling sick pretty quickly, in addition to the general anxiety over my lack of control. I'm very thin, going without food doesn't go over well sober, so I really don't know what I was thinking with this entire thing. I couldn't bring myself to conquer food while on the drug, so drank an Ensure nutrition drink, at the suggestion of my companion...probably 15 minutes later, I projectile vomited while walking, despite my strong conviction that I could suppress it...ugh. My experience after vomiting improved, which was due to the cessation of the drugs effects, at least from what I could tell....I mean arguably, it was still in my system considering its strong effects pre-puking, but the intensity dissipated almost immediately after I threw up. Nothing notable afterwards. I had a "come down" later where I was emotional and cried but rather enjoyable and nothing major. All things considered, I felt pretty normal when I woke up the next day.

I continued feeling normal until 9 pm the following night, when I started feeling a sort of tingling sensation. I can't fully describe it. I've gotten a similar feeling from smoking weed, but not nearly as intense or uncomfortable as this. I feel the sensation sort of swimming through me, like it wants to jump out of my skin. I've had the skin jumping feeling from taking too much Nyquil.. But clearly this is so much worse now. It hurts. The feeling seemed noticeably enhanced by the cold temperature of where I was when it first started. After a few hours, it had gotten really uncomfortable, very lightly bumping my arm on something caused a strange pain.

Its intensified by my movement and something like sitting up sends a wave of the sensation throughout my body. It has a bit of a coldness about it. I don't fricking know. My boyfriend said its probably psychosomatic. I'm an active person and its fucking with my activities, which I really can't handle. Its also distracting on a constant basis. Even when I'm sitting, it seems to be detrimental to my performance in everything, and my hands are actually in quite a bit of pain from type (my blood feels stagnant and cold but also burning).

It basically hasn't stopped since Sunday night. Its gotten worse and more irritating, its sort of like pins and needles. Monday was the mildest, I was somewhat active on Monday, compared to what I've been capable of since then. In addition to this feeling, I haven't been able to sleep. I've fallen asleep mid studying but only briefly. I wake up well before my alarm in the morning and can't go back to sleep. Getting maybe 3-4 hours of disturbed sleep at most.

It's unbearable right now....I stayed home today to sleep it off, slept 2-3 hours in the afternoon but it didn't help. I just want it to go away.

I've done some research and from what I've read, it seems most similar to:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paresthesia

and

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Serotonin_syndrome

which is scary as hell.

Noteworthy maybe: I'm prescribed Adderall XR which I took in close proximity to the time I took the drug, and take daily.

I'm sick of typing, the second link I posted above really freaked me out, and basically I can't handle this continuing any longer.

Anyone know what I should do to solve this or how worried I should be or anything at all....please.

Serotonin syndrome is only a temporary condition. (Don't take my word for that. I wouldn't want you to get hurt.) I believe I gave myself serotonin syndrome once after taking 25-30 100mg doses of MDMA over the course of 2 days. I am a non-smoker and during those two days I probably smoked 15-20 unfiltered, rolled cigarettes. I believe usually the MAOI effect of tobacco is negligible but being a non-smoker and the amount of unfiltered cigarettes I smoked combined with a significant amount of MDMA gave me this.

It felt like this. I got very cold and scared something bad was going to happen (like a sort of delirious anxiety. could've been caused by fatigue). I was very shakey and twitchy and was getting a cold sweat. I promptly ran outside scared and tried to vomit because I was extremely nauseated but couldn't throw up. I walked very slowly back inside because my muscles hurt and laid on my bed for 5 or so hours staring at the ceiling. Felt like shit for the next 18 hours or so but was pretty much normal after that.

I wouldn't be too worried about serotonin syndrome. Especially if you took just one capsule that was sold as a 'cap' or 'dose' or 'roll'. Unless you are on an MAOI or a ton of some other serotonergic drug, I wouldn't be too worried about it. Adderall probably affected your experience and MDMA affects people in a number of different ways so the experience can be quite different from person to person. However, if I had to guess it's probably some lingering serotonin depletion. Take some 5-htp. That may help.

Edit: Come to think of it...Do you know if you have ever had any heart problems. Especially heart valve problems? If so, I recommend seeing a doctor.

in 2010 I spent some involuntary time at a hospital. they'd check my vitals. i know on my chart when i left i was said to sometimes exhibit 'tachycardia of an unknown etiology'. however, this wasn't really emphasized to me by the doctors as being a problem. not sure if this would apply.

admittedly, i take too much adderall, and smoke cigarettes. sometimes i feel my heart racing.

this is just such a miserable feeling, and so frustrating in that its so hard to describe. it's more worrying than i'd like to admit, and i'm not sure if i'll be able to see a doctor.

thank you for your input, i'll look into the 5htp (seems like the cure all around here?)..please let me know if you have any other helpful insights.

The reason I suggested 5-htp is because it's a precursor to serotonin. If your body is lacking serotonin, which I would find strange almost a week after taking one dose, then 5-htp will help replenish that. Serotonin depletion may make you feel depressed or anxious or worried. Taking supplements of serotonin (5-ht) would just get metabolized by the MAO.

As for the tachycardia, probably not too much to worry about. It just means a fast heart rate. It will speed up even more when your anxious so if the cause is serotonin depletion, then 5htp will definitely make you feel better.

IMHO, adderall in any amount or tobacco in any amount is probably worse for you than one mdma pill. (Provided it was MDMA). Adderall is actually just amphetamine. Often times what is sold as ecstasy/MDMA/molly is not MDMA. Some other possibilites is some combination of MDMA/MDA/BZP/TMFPP/mCPP/methylone/amphetamine/meth/PMA/PMMA. If there was any constitutent to be worried about it's PMA/PMMA. It's going around and deaths have been attributed to it. Especially in my area(Canada). A girl I was seeing about a month ago knew one of the kids that died from a PMMA OD in Calgary.

Still...You took one pill. I wouldn't be too worried about it. Sometimes the MDMA 'hangover' lasts longer for some people. If I had to guess, this is the case for you. Amphetamine/Tobacco is doing you far more damage than one night of MDMA will.
