Marijuana and Religion

Hmm... that's always a big question within theology - Did God create "sin" to maintain a balance in the world? Is Evil necessary to keep Good as pure and potent as it is?

I like to think that God created all things good, and all was once perfect. Somehow, evil seeped into the world. Deceit, malice, anger, murder. Law and judgement are a result of this.

I love to think that God created the herb for enjoyment. Don't you think its funny how plants have so many organic compounds that effect the human brain? We have such an intimate and mystical connection to plant life. I love it.

thats why us humans have used religion and the bible to our own advantage, alot of mind altering substances come from nature , yet we are forbidden and frowned upon if used. but its there right? it comes from mother earth. its nature. its natural !
once again contradiction! the laws of nature against the "word of man" because the bible was NOT written by god him self but by men.
every one should stop reading that forsaken book and start worrying about mother earth because she is real and what has been happening lately is a sign of her powers .

Therefore, I don't see how you could decide to refuse to acknowledge any relationship between Catholisicm and alcohol (which is a drug).

.
once again thats the hypocrisy of religion

this thread should be in the religion and spirituality section. religion is a tough subject

it's a plant people, it doesn't bring you any closer to god. any way you people try to spin it and say it does all these wonderful things is just stupid it doesn't do anything magical for anybody's life. don't be dumb

^No, I think that it belong here, P&S isn't really for drug talk.

true i agree..

so you believe in Christ , the bible & mj then ?
how do you associate these together

after i left the Jehovah witness i attended a few other religious gathering (maybe it was a faze in search of god ) but it all sounded pretty much the same to me .
religion just judges everyone to much

i cant say marijuana opened me up spiritually but i became more in tune with nature thats for sure .

MJ helped me turn away from god as I knew him (catholic school) to god as I understood him. Fuck Christian's, most of them are hypocrites.

I believe that all three exist. I don't believe in a personal God, nor that Jesus was anything but a man, nor that the Bible is anything but a book.

I was raised as a Jehovahs Witness and i am still a practising member of the organization, i do believe in what the relgion teachers, what has mainly impressed me is that the whole aim of the religion is too prove to yourself what they are trying to teach you. (pick up your own bible, read and prove to yourself what is in it)

Cannabis has helped me to think about things to do with my believes, i dont want to get into an argument about whether or not god is real, but it helped me reafirm my personal believe that he is, it also helped me personally realize that benefits of living by the standards in the bible/what is teached by the wittnesses.

Personaly, i find drug use, in particularly cannibis use, to be the same as drinking alcohol which is not condemed in the bible.

I am still young and i am not a "Perfect" member of the religion, but i do beleive in what it teachers and do try and live by the standards. But i enjoy pot ;). if u spoke to me on the street or became my friend in real life, you probably wouldnt find me as your sterotypical "Jehovahs Witness, Bible Basher" I respect everyones believes, and i enjoy much of the same things as every day people outside the religion do. what im trying to say is. Not all of us are the sterotypcal, disconnected from the world, people some view us as.

If i wasnt baked as fuck, i probably wouldnt have wrote this post.

my marijuana use had no factor on my decision to convert to atheism.

to me its just common sense... diety = not practical/sensible/realistic. its impossible.

an invisible man in the sky that knows everything of whats going on at any given moment? thats just absurd. to anyone who does believe in god, hopefully your weed use will eventually give you a reality check and open your eyes to the fact that its all bullshit.
