Id like to ask my doctor about trying a different antidepressant and id like to try a MAOI. Are they still prescribed ? Which ones was popular.

im not a drug seeking, I seek happeness, wellbehing and appreciation of life. And I dont want to be a 25k pound overweightlord because Im taking anykind of SRI drug. And acutually im a sad negative pesimist.
Actually, SSRI's and SNRI's decrease appetite. Only the antipsychotics (and all antidopaminergic/anticholinergic drugs) increase appetite. Also, any drug that will cause you to feel 'happy' instantly will be an addictive drug. MAOI's are addictive. I'm not saying that you're drug seeking - but that's exactly the kind of impression your doctor would get if you ask him to prescribe you Selegiline.
Effexor is an SNRI (Serotonin-Norepinephrine Reuptake Inhibitor, it also has some affinity for Dopamine as well) that has an incredibly high success rate. You should go with Effexor any day rather than Selegiline. Seriously.
