Manchester Dogs' Home blaze kills dozens of animals

I didnt know that Frank McCourt had died in 2009. Just looked him up on on Wikipedia now. Still he got to be 89 which is a pretty good innings by anyones standard.

Not a bad age considering all he went through. I really admire how he had a dream of going back to America, and made it happen. I love his book, 'Tis , had me in stitches of laughter it did. Wow that man knew how to write. Teacher man was good, but I didn't rate it to the standard of Angela's Ashes n 'Tis. The language of writing was completely different, it wasn't first person, present tense no more.
Malachy MCCourt, his brother, also wrote an autiobiography but I didn't rate it to the standard of Frank McCourt, though it was interesting.

There seems to be a lot of overlap between the second part of 'Tis and Teacher Man, which is a bit annoying, unless I'd already listened to 'Tis but forgot it all due to benzos, which is also possible. Angela's Ashes is amazing though you're right. During one epiosde of The Sopranos all the Mafia wives had a book club evening, and they were discussing that book with very high praise. I think it will go down as a twentieth century classic, if it isnt already.

Did you say you studied it as part of your GCSE? Thats a huge improvement, we had to study Death Of A bloody Salesman, which felt very very tedious at the time. During the exam there was an option to write an essay about George Orwell's Animal Farm, which i had read out of my own choice and enjoyed much more. I was tempted to write my exam essay on that instead, i might aswell have done because i got a U for English Lit O level first time round. I also had problems with my O level English teacher which turned me off everything she tried to teach us about.

We studied Wilfred Owen , Frank MCCourt, Shakespears n all sorts of other stuff. Was fun, enjoyed those Wednesday afternoon study sessions to be honest.

Edit: my iphone has deleted a whole paragraph n keeps doing so. I cant handle this new iPhone 5 c its a real nuisance to type. I basically said that i didnt concentrate much until year 9 n was put in the bottom sets with all the trouble makers - of which some have done well for themselves. One even owns his own saloon n he was that much of a nuisance that a master grabbed his hair n slung him.

I received an E first time, repeated n got a C, which I'm proud of.
