Man gets 80 months in prison for shooting a guy who was stealing his weed

PS. mods, I would have edited some of my more colourful statements but I cannot save edits on either of my devices since the transfer to .org, so pardon my French for now.

Dank, you should actually try reading the acts you're referencing before you throw bullshit statements around.

Malicious Communications Act 1988 section 1 said:
(1) Any person who sends to another person
(a) a letter, electronic communication or article of any description which conveys
(i) a message which is indecent or grossly offensive
(ii) a threat or
(iii) information which is false and known or believed to be false by the sender or
(b) any article or electronic communication which is, in whole or part, of an indecent or grossly offensive nature,
is guilty of an offence if his purpose, or one of his purposes, in sending it is that it should, so far as falling within paragraph (a) or (b) above, cause distress or anxiety to the recipient or to any other person to whom he intends that it or its contents or nature should be communicated.

So:

If you make a negative statement on twitter you go to jail for 30 days

Yeah no... If you make a threat then yes it's possible to be charged (every country takes threats seriously, and many of them have been trying to work out how to deal with the form of eTerrorism that harasses an individual to the point where stress and anxiety basically becomes torture) and no, the 'information that is false' thing doesn't apply to every email. If I read the act properly, it's to be used against the instance of blackmailing with falsified data.

Once again, I'll repeat, this applies to almost every western country. So the UK isn't unusually tyrannical with this like you're trying to imply.

I also did a little searching about the claim that you have to leave your house during a robbery/invasion and there's bupkiss on that.

Thanks to your mate stonehappy for that tip :)

No right click on iPad...

Forget the 30 day part then, good damn...

All these mindless defences of Britain conveniently leave out the most egregious violations of liberty and make retard quips.

The part about indecency and being grossly offensive only applies to Britain (THAT Is the unique part you keep fucking glossing over!) It absolutely is the most severe of all Western countries. Canada, US, France, Scandinavia etc. all have the requirement of threats, racism, hateful or the incitement of violence.

The part about indecency and being grossly offensive only applies to Britain

Yeah... no it doesn't. Here's the section in the Australian Criminal Code:

“A person is guilty of an offence if:

(a) the person uses a postal or similar service; and

(b) the person does so in a way (whether by the method of use or the content of a communication, or both) that reasonable persons would regard as being, in all the circumstances, menacing, harassing or offensive.

Penalty: Imprisonment for 2 years.”

But is the term applied in the same context as the one in Britain? I have yet to hear of even arrests on this from Australia, for simply offending someone without bring I race etc.

Britain is unique in enforcement at least, if not wording. Although Australia and Britain are among a select few (2).

You can stop now with the bullshit. I'm not going to trawl through worldwide laws to continue to show that you're full of shit. You're doing more backflips than a gymnast here.

First:
In the UK you have to leave your house and call the police if your being robbed or you'll be punished for protecting yourself and your property
then:
You may not be forced to leave but it's implied because of the danger of the intruder

Bullshit was called and you couldn't provide any sources. So you suddenly dropped it. Next it was...
If you make a negative statement on twitter you go to jail for 30 days. In dictatorships they only punish you for speaking out against the ruler or his party, unlike in the UK where this applies to everyone
then:
Forget the 30 day part then, good damn...

How about you take your own advice...
Learn your country's laws before you spew such disgustingly ignorant comments.

Not to mention this thread has gone completely off the rails... I apologize for helping with that

Whatever, I christen this thread with my shits. The final verdict is that Britain has pussy laws that make its residents into passive bitches. To what degree and rarity is less important.
