Oh jeezus, that's a horrible reason to have a kid. Taking care of babies is stressful. If anything it would probably exacerbate any existing substance abuse problems-- plus bring a child into a dysfunctional situation. To knowingly do that is poor judgment IMHO.
When I was 24 my gf got pregnant (she was on the pill). My alcoholism was well established and I was using/abusing various other drugs. My gf wasn't as fucked up as me but she wasn't ready for a kid and knew damn well I wasn't. She had the kid and gave it up for adoption at birth.
Best decision she or I ever made.
