here's my 2 cents on this whole thing...
Personally, I don't think god has any plan, i think he/she/it, whatever, might now even know we exist. We are just small parts of him, all our actions and all occurences of events make up his thoughts and everything that exists on this physical plane is his body. All these religions are just different perspectives of the same exact thing. Books like the bible were written ages ago, and not even in the english language. Even if the translation is accurate. People take the words in there too literally. As somebody in this post mentioned earlier, they look at god as being some guy with a white beard in the sky. Essentially if you take out all the bullshit, most religion is the same thing from different viewpoints.
As for praying, i think this is no different from casting spells that wiccans do, or anything else along those lines practiced in other religions, any rituals. All those are just catalysts in my opinion. The power is in your mind. It is all about self-hypnosis. The manifestation of your thought into reality. A person has the power to convince himself anything he wants, and whatever it is he convinces himself that is the way it will go for him. The person will see whatever it is they wish to see, and block out whatever they do not wish to see. They will be hypnotised by themselves to think that way. All prayer does is help convince you that something will happen because you prayed, and it might in fact happen just because you hypnotised yourself to believe that it will, so you will see almost anything as your prayers being anwsered. That is where the whole matter of faith comes in.
Whatever you believe in, that is what will hold true for you. The more faith you have in it, the more you will see of it, and the more your thoughts will continue to make themselves into reality.
I think that peoples thoughts manifest themselves into reality to a certain extent. If you pray, it is because you want something to happen really bad. If you want it bad enough and just keep wanting it, stopping at nothing to get it. Eventually, you will. As long as it not something unbelievably unreasonable like flying, breathing underwater, being immortal, etc... The praying, spells, chanting, rituals, all that stuff, just helps you convince yourself that you will get it. You can accomplish this without prayer or spells once you realize that is all you're doing. Just convincing yourself you will get something. The more sure you are that you will get it, the higher the chances of you getting it are. Thats why they say, all those things about having faith. Because if you dont' faith, (stay convinced), that god is real and you will get what you prayed for then you wont get what you prayed for. This is because if you do not believe in god, then that thought will manifest itself into reality for you, and you will continue to see no evidence of, or logical reasons for gods existence because of the fact that you believe that there is none. That is why faith matters.
The more faith you have, the more you convince yourself, the more you will see of what you want to see and the more your thoughts will make themselves real. Ever notice how you can not talk to somebody for 4 years, then one day think of them, next thing you know, they call you. You proceed to say to them, hey I was just thinking of you today, for the first time in 4 years, what a coincidence. I think that is no coincidence. Just the manifestation of your thought.
So here's a suggestion to all of you that pray. Try this if you want. In your mind accept the fact that all you're doing by praying is convincing yourself that you will get what you're praying for. The chances of what you want to happen have now increased because you prayed, according to you. Try to instead of praying, just wanting what you want a whole lot, and believing that you will get it. See wat happens. You'll probably get the same results. If not, my opinion is that this is just because you are more easily convcinced that it will happen if you pray, and cannot convince yourself it will happen as much without performing some sort of action to help you accomplish the hypnotised state of mind in which you believe you will get what you want, thereby manisfesting that thought into reality.
might not make much sense to most of you, and even sound crazy to some others, but its how i see it.
peace and much love,
