LSD, Weed - Experienced - Friend Shot With Shotgun

when are you going to need to 'drop a bear/mountain lion'? when you're roasting your fucking weenies at midnight? give me a break. get a dog and some spray. gun toting psychos. live by the sword die by the sword.
 
^^ Although I am against guns and tripping also, if you live out in the wilderness away from bigger cities, you can easily encounter a bear or mountain lion. Easily. And spray isn't going to stop them, either. And mountain a mountain lion could pretty easily kick a dog's ass, as could a bear.
 
Yeah, though mountion lion and bear attacks are uncommon where I live, they do happen, and I always have that thought in the back of my head when doing solo-wilderness trips; I dont carry a gun though.
 
i was surprised when you said it almost made you quit psychadelics...and didn't make you want to throw your gun away. You live by the gun, you die by the gun.
 
I lived up in the mountains by mountain lions and bears before there was always mountain lion tracks around but never saw the lion they are very timid people are more likely to get struck by lighting then get attacked by a mountain lion. A couple of the bears got to be a nuisance they got used to raiding camps and human food.
I had an intense confrontation with one of the problem bears one night and 2 weeks latter 2 backpackers were attacked by a bear, I am pretty sure it was the same one. They lived but had hundreds of stitches. Moose can be very aggressive also got to watch out for them and not get too close. The only thing I really worry about is a bear when the gets to be a nuisance, but people scare me a lot more. I usually have a gun around if I spend the night in the open it is just nice to have the piece of mind.

This trip report reminds me of this guy I knew when he was 18 years old he was at a party and their was a fight and a group of people got kicked out of the house. A little bit latter they drove by and started shooting a gun at the house so the guy ran in the other room grabbed a rifle ran out on the porch and fired a couple of shots at their car as they were going down the road.
A couple hours latter the police came arrested him and charged him with murder. One of the bullets went into the back of the car through the seat and into a 15-year-old girl hitting her heart and killing her instantly.
He never made bail and went to prison for 5 years solid. He is out now but it probably took away the best part of his life.
 
I'm glad you're friend wasn't killed. That's the most insane shit I could imagine happening while on acid.

P.S. HotButt needs to stfu, say something useful, or gtfo.

This experience made me appreciate my gun more. It probably scared them off. Maybe they would have fired again had I not shot back. What benefit would me not having a gun have given me? None. It would have been a disadvantage. You are stupid, if I may be blunt! One of those "oooh guns are bad PERIOD! *gay hand flap*" people.
 
Guns are a must if you are really going wilderness hiking near a high bear population, but if you were with your car, that is not wilderness.

There is a time for guns, but stupid kids playing around is just not what IM talking about. I dont think you should have shot back, I dont think that showed a responsible appreciation for guns. They could have really killed a person, really killed them. They shot first, but that does not mean its okay for you to pump a few rounds into the darkness. In my eye you stooped to their level, not defended your self.

I was taught dont ever pull that trigger unless you intend to kill or wound, they arent for playing, scaring, they are for killing. If you need a gun to scare some kids away... your in the wrong place with the wrong people. Both sides are lucky that didnt end badly.
 
i shot out of surprise and fear, not for vengence or aggression. it was a reaction. i was in fear of my life. having bbs fly right over your head, and then again along with a scream, will surge anyone full of adrenaline... the brains survival mechanism kicks in; the possibility of death is known, but the brain says "i will survive" and acts accordingly, coordinating with the mind very precisely.

in retrospect, i should have fired over their heads, but i was on autopilot almost; doing the best steps to ensure my survival.

i will only trip with a gun again if i am away in the woods alone or with a few trusted people. if i cant have this, i wont trip, or wont hang out PERIOD in some shit situation like this again.

To me, it wasn't stupid kids playing around, it was a fucking war going on, unprovoked, an ambush of peace, a random lead storm. it has left a scar in my mind, that is for sure.
 
Sure am glad guns aren't legal in Australia. Never hear of anything like this happening unless you live in some really shitty areas, even then its only the real crims who carry guns around.
 
Hiss, shooting back was completely justified. Whoever says they would not shoot back at those mother fuckers are either complete wankers, or have never been shot at. Completely fucked up story however....

Your 357 mag wouldve most definatly killed them, that is a very powerful hand gun. Sounds like he only got shot with bird shot which is very lucky. Good thing they werent packin slugs or buckshot. And on an obvious note fuck drunk rednecks. Going through something like that even while NOT tripping on LSD would still be incredably fucked up.

And one more thing, I think someone (like myself) on LSD would be LESS likely to have a firearms accident. Those who are ripping on him for carrying a gun while tripping, only a complete sick fuck would kill a man on acid. I dont see anyone talking shit about Hunter Thompson , He always carried a gun with him.

He had a good reason to shoot back. This isn't natural born killers, Some people are actually capable of carrying firearms while being high responsibly.

This is why i don't drink and don't allow guns near me while any sort of intoxicating or hallucinating drugs are around. This definitely includes alcohol.

You're right, damn lucky it wasn't buckshot.

I don't even take drugs that make me aggressive, no coke and no liquor. I only do weed and an occassional psychedellic.

Man it's perfectly understandable that you shot your 357 too. I would of pulled out my .45 colt if i were there and shot that fucker in the skull for shootin my friend.
 
Hiss why do you only load 5 bullets in your 6 shot gun?
If it is for safety that is way out dated, In the old days like 100 years ago some people used to carry 5 shots in the six shooter because the firing pin was on the hammer and if you fell hard enough on the hammer it could shot off a round in your leg if you were very unlucky. Guns now days the firing pin in side the frame and covered with a plate that only opens when you pull the trigger. Unless you pull the trigger the round in the camber cant go off and if you pull the trigger it just rolls the cilender over to the 5th round anyway. It is a waste to only have 5 shots in a 6 shot modern gun. You are just as safe putting the missing bullet back in your gun. As far a safty goes why even unload it so you can get shot while you try to load it? An unloaded gun is the most dangerous gun for a few reasons.

^^ you are mistaken thinking all revolvers are 6-shot. there are 5,6, and 7 shots in 357 mag that i know of. probably more sizes. mine is a 5 shot, fits in the pocket concealed very well.

i carry it loaded usually, i just felt more comfortable tripping with it unloaded. i am very quick with the speedloader.

I can't imagine carrying a gun on acid, wouldn't that be dangerous? What if you trip really badly and think your gun is a popsicle or something? haha 8)

I'm willing to bet that shooting accuracy decreases with psychedelic use though! :\

Wow, way to be uneducated, we had similar gun laws to you guys and there was several massacres, one involving a man with an ak47 walking into a cafe and shooting dead 37 people and injuring another 40. After that the government bought back all rifles and automatic guns, you can still have pistols if you go through extensive training and a police check.

Guess what, since then theres been zero mass killings in Australia from guns, can't say the same about America can you.
 
^ i'm all for having guns for self defense with a good background check, but it is sad someone 18 can walk into the mall here and buy a 30-round assault rifle at dunhams. they should be banned, or highly restricted.. they are perfect killing spree weapons.

i'd never bring a gun when taking a high dose trip, but i have before. nothing ever went wrong with it, and i would trip again, at a medium dose in the woods armed. this trip REINFORCES the good of having a pistol for self-protection and protection of friends. to me at least.

for people who do go into the woods without guns, be careful. carry a knife or a large can of mace at least. a good thing to remember also is animals are afraid of fire so maybe keep a stick in the fire you can lift up and let out a primal roar at any threatening animal. you are not invincible, you can easily die at the hands of a pack of wild animals or some crazy inbred hick after he has his way with you. so have some defense.

i am not recommending anyone trip with a gun, it does sound scary. i can only speak for myself by saying i won't give that up and think it is more unsafe to be unarmed. at the beginning of my trip report, it says i may have been scared away from psychedelics. well that time has passed, and i feel mostly better. my anger has also faded and i'm glad i didn't hit anyone with the rounds i fired, but on the other hand kind of wish i fired all 5 at them :)

the guy who shot D is going to have his trial in a few months and I'll be there to testify probably.
 
Hiss I glad to hear it was just a 5 shot I thought that you were one of those guys stuck on the false belief that an empty chamber is safer then a full one.
I considered getting a 5 shot S&W but I like the larger frame revolvers better they just feel good in my hand.

You don't think someone could drive a cement truck into a café and kill people oh better take those away. Actually maybe the Queen should house all the servants/works/serfs in a maximum-security prison then none of that would happen.
