if any time to drop is available i would do it a couple of hours before sun set... sunrises and sunsets are beautiful... on acid, and yea i have woken up at 4am to drop to be peaking by sunrise... it was kind of nice being down by early afternoon...
But normally i am a night tripper, the stars are indescribable.... the first shooting star i ever saw was on LSD. That was a good trip.
As far as advice, i would say have an ipod with chill music you enjoy, death metal not the greatest for an acid trip imo, Beatles is good... I recommend Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band, its such and upbeat album. The white album is a headfuck for me on acid....
If you smoke cigarettes at all, you will probably run through an entire box. Each one will feel like the best cigarette you have ever smoked.
Go outside and see how you like it, houses always just feel so cramped and acid is drug that gives me energy so i like to go on walks. Nature is beautiful.
Have something to write with should you have any ideas that seem amazing at the time, its fun to go back and read the strange things that made so much sense the night before.... if your more the artistic type, have something to draw or paint with.... musical, have your instrument to play, some of the best music has come out of acid trips...
I'm not going to tell you what to expect, because even if i do i know i will be wrong. The experience is very hard to put into words. I read everything i could about the drug before i tried it and thought i knew what to expect but i was wrong about everything. It was like nothing i could have ever imagined, but more than i could have ever dreamed.
Mirrors are not for the weak at heart, i find myself perplexed by the looking glass and what it has to show me but what you see looking back at you can be a scary sight.... I try to keep in mind that what im seeing is now what others see in me.
I recommend dropping with a friend your first time. I love tripping alone but for the inexperienced it is nice to have someone experiencing the same thing, you can relate to them and talk about whats going on. Around sober people you just have the feeling that they don't get it. And its interesting when your friend is on the same level, strange things can happen....
The advice given to me by the girl who got me into acid was "just let the lovin' take hold". Do not try and fight it, its like trying to fight yourself. no one wins. Let go of everything, your sanity and the way that you have seen the world your entire life. Something i do recommend before you trip is write on a sheet of paper "I dropped acid, what i am feeling is only the effects of a drug, everything will go back to normal in time" or something along those lines. Its a comforting thing to see if you start feeling out of your mind, the knowledge that no matter how far gone you are you will come back to what sobriety is comforted me a lot during my trip and allowed me to enjoy the experience without worry. Anyone can tell you that you took a drug and that it will all be alright, but if you see a message from yourself your much more likely to be comforted by it.
set and setting are very important, i like nature and night trips although day trips are sometimes nice, the blue sky tends to turn purpleish.... I day tripped and kayaked on a lake, it was amazing... Try to avoid being around authority figures, cops, parents, etc.... trip when the weather is nice and dont have anything planned for the next day, your going to want to sleep and rest your brain...
