LSD - does anyone agree? (argument about LSD being unhealthy)

LSD at 100 ug's and driving a car for 3 hours possibly lethal.

Have a listen to yourself love, that's like saying going to sleep whilst driving a car means going to sleep is dangerous.

LSD is utterly harmless - yes if you trip while operating a combine harvester you could have problems.

This is much more comparable to driving while tired. Although it is not harmful to sleep, it can be harmful to be tired.

Whether it is healthy or unhealthy, it is a tool for reliably triggering intense mystical states of consciousness

Hahaha it's unhealthy Ismene but so is a fucking big mac. What I am trying to say is what context? How unhealthy? Eating a big mac once in a while will not do much, same for LSD. Binge on it or a big mac will increase risk of adverse effects, operating a combine harvester will cause problems if effected by LSD. I think etoh would be worse for the operation of heavy machinery while under the influence but to say LSD is completely benign is just wrong. A healthy diet is benign, a big mac is not a healthy food item, however if it's just on the odd occasion it shouldn't be to big a drama despite being unhealthy. Same goes for LSD. My last post was having a dig at everyone who believes it's completely benign as it is not. However it really is not life threatening unless there is a predisposition to psychosis, underlying medical condition, stupid behavior (driving while high esp. long distances as an example) etc, etc.

Etoh is way more unhealthy and life threatening than LSD. Etoh in small occasional doses may be healthy due to antioxidants in the case of wine/beer left over from the process of turning organic matter into etoh. Pure etoh is not healthy unless used as a disinfectant or surface cleaner. LSD is unhealthy but in context it's probably less unhealthy than even a few drinks. Meh this thread is awesome for a laugh though. How good is the chemist making the clandestine LSD? Chuckle fuck.

A big mac clogs your arteries so bad the blood squeaks when attempting to push it's way through.

You do realize a drug that effects the dopamine receptors will cause vasoconstriction? 5HTP2 receptor site activity also increases vasoconstriction. Both receptor sites increase cardiac rate... Add clogged arteries from all those big mac's and wham myocardial infarction.

BTW psychotic/psychogenic effects are entirely variable depending on the individual and their predisposition to psychosis or their existing mental health. So I am assuming that to be benign it is an individual with no psychotic predisposition or existing mental health issues which is most responsible users of LSD :). The irresponsible users however are the ones that cause all the negative press. Happy New Years and enjoy LSD or whatever drug of choice everyone used/uses to usher it in...

LSD is not healthy and frankly, when you begin to really understand it, then you learn that it is a less interesting way to experience life, it deprives the mind, and in the long term has negative effects, like confusion and depression, that need to be disclosed at all times.
Couldn't disagree more! LSD has never led to confusion or depression at all and I've done a hell of a lot of acid. I honestly feel that in the long run it has made me a far more compassionate, understanding and balanced person. If anything it has improved my mental health (although I've never ever felt mentally unhealthy).
I think the experiences you've had with LSD says more about your personal brain chemistry and your approach to taking acid than it does about the drug itself.
If you use LSD simply to escape your problems (not saying this the case with the OP... It's just a type of example)Your probably not going to have the same long term positive effects than if you used it as an entheogen in responsible circumstances.

The people who insufflated LSD at the party would have likely died without medical intervention.
Your second point is an opinion. People predisposed to [blank] are more likely to suffer [blank] when exposed to LSD. Seems kind of self-evident. Another way to look at this is, LSD is not good at treating [blank]. You can find other opinions that disagree and say LSD can treat [depression].
Your third point is an article that is persuasive, it has math. My only question is if LSD is not a risk factor and 98 percent of the population of LSD users smoke marijuana and marijuana is a risk factor, then how big of a risk is marijuana? It is a question only Johansen and Krebs can answer, and until they do it does not help answer any questions.
In other words, they do not show their math; so why should I be persuaded?
I assume the researchers are credibile but this is a highly speculative game, even if all the numbers were given, and the media portrays the study findings as concrete.
Everything that exists is dangerous if you take too much including water. You can actually die from drinking too much H2O. Saying that acid is dangerous because you could overdose on it is true for everything on earth.

I have enjoyed LSD an average of 8 times per year since 1969, and for me it has been terrific. Lately I cannot find it but LSZ is almost the same.
I never had more than a single tab, but I adore it.

How about fiber or glass? Substances your body cannot digest. So you are wrong.

I never have to hear about this again.

Hunter S Thompson does have a famous quote about the people in the 60's and 70's being Casualities.
But more or less of the product of society. Too much acid, for too long a time i can imagine, does open some doors or some fields of consciousness that not everyone is prepared for. In an Ever developing world.
I like to think that no Psychosis is permanent and it's just a reflection of the world we are living in. Like these people aren't dead, it's just the world is threatening because they have manifested a higher state of consciousness.
Hunter S Thompson being the hard ass he was, did a lot of acid and other drugs. I don't think he was ever known for the greatest health. But Ultimately still managed to live to a ripe old age, before shooting his own head off.

One other thing you will notice about Old Acid heads is, none of them "live in the city" because the "city" is where the crazy comes from.

Obviously pmoseman has made up his mind, it seems he's not looking for a discussion but rather an argument. That's fine. I love LSD, I find it to be clean feeling and fun, I've used it tons of times without suffering ill effects. If you think it's destroying people's bodies and minds that's fine, everyone is entitled to an opinion. I feel that there is nothing spiritually or socially redeemable about Methamphetamine use, but I refrain from popping over to the stimulant section to lecture people about their drug of choice and what they choose to do with their lives and bodies.

I live right down town
and I have a job
and I work with people of all ages
and none of them know I am an acid head and 62
