LSD as Therapy? Write about It, Get Barred from US

didn't they do the same thing to john lennon? at first denied him entrance to and later tried to deport him from, america. i believe it was because of a drug conviction in england involving hashish or marijuana. (there were, of course, other factors involved such as his political views, etc, but the drug case was the official reason i think)

Anyone who's on Opioid Maintenance isn't allowed in the Land of the Free either! :\

Though if you're on methadone you could get your doc' to write Physeptone (Methadone's sometimes used under this name when used as an analgesic) and say you have a pain problem! :)

Wow.....this is just ridiculous imho. What ever happend to freedom of speech? Have some god damn respect.

Free what?
/me starts following you and keeping tabs on what else you say about the government....

Is it common practice for border security to google you before you enter the country? Seems kind of strange.

^^^^ Yeah, that's what bothers me. In the old days the blacklist databases were based on criminal records and theoretically only available to LE.

Now it seems anyone who has a pic of their left tit on myspace.com can get turned back at the border for "reasons of national security"...

While I totally agree with you. You must remember that "freedom of speech" is gauranteed to U.S. citizens only. He is not a U.S. citizen, thus there is no guarantee.

So the US is not granting him freedom of speech in his own country? Even if Canada does?

Its like those signs in restaurants: We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone.

oh man, I hope these fuckers dont infect Canada with their stupidity.

there's got to be more to this story. there's no way in hell the only reason we didn't let him in the country was because he wrote about LSD. It just doesn't seem possible! maybe it wishful thinking, but maybe there are other circumstances that barred him from entering. It just doesnt seem fair that something like this could happen. and I think this is one of those events that almost everyone in the USA would disagree with. I'd be willing to guess that it makes 95 percent of the citizens of this country very very embarassed and ashamed.

You obviously don't know how some of the "red states" think. I seriously think that some people in my beloved country are mentally retarded. And I'm not talking about the many people that have documented mental illnesses. Say LSD to some people, and they look at you like a terrorist. However, those same people have no issue with everyone drinking Pabst Blue Ribbon day in and day out and hopping in their truck and going hunting.

^^^^ Propaganda is a very sly and devious tool that can make otherwise intelligent people think in absurd and twisted ways. A quick look back to Nazi Germany illustrates just how absurd and twisted the thinking can get.

And you are absolutely correct in pointing out how the majority have been conditioned to respond to the mere mention of LSD emotionally rather than thinking critically about it.

In this way our government twists reality around by taking a man who would be an asset to any society and branding him instead as a danger.

Realize that anyone that works for the government- from postmen, to border guards, to homeland security, has a set of rules they must follow. They must do things "by the book". They are not allowed to use individual thoughts and/or common sense. To do so could mean loss of their jobs, benefits, pension, etc... So they have to act as robots and do everything strictly to the letter.

We can all sit here and recognize the utter bullshit of what has happened here. But bureaucracy and red tape is contradictorary to any logical thought process.:\

^^ well everyone knows that. Of course the red tape and bureaucracy gets in the way of common sense. But this is just one of those articles that after you read over it, you find yourself thinking "there is no way this can happen in my country." out of all the news articles I've ever read in CE&P, this one is the most shocking to me. this one takes the cake.

And now that it's Uncle Sham is saying, "I WANT YOU--TO GOOGLE THEM!," people can now be possibly labeled and barred entry based on internet innuendo and defamation.

Internet defamation, often propagated by anonymous entities, is almost impossible to prosecute.

And I wonder what the secret criteria are for permanently banning entry to people based on a Google search.
