Losing The Magic....help

Acctually i dont agree. I never had one ounce of fear about losing the magic, but it happened to me all the same. Pills just dont do it for me anymore, i even feel weird or off, or at best slightly fake happy. Looks like im on to new things. no choice really. I was even in denial for a while, like newbierock says, it sucks... especialy cause the comedowns dont lose their force...

Oh, I agree, you can extend the childlike amazement for awhile. But........BUT.....it eventually ends, I don't care how long you space the doses, or if you dose once or twice a year, after awhile, the initial happiness wears off. There's no avoiding that. Ever hear addicts talk about their use? (Always chasing the first high, and NEVER acheiving it, it is NOT possible). You will never have that initial high, it is just the nature of the beast, I don't care who you talk to, it is not possible. You will feel awesome and have a blast, but your initial high will never be obtained, understand that now, it will NEVER come back, I don't care WHO you talk to. You could have a blast and have the best times of your life, but trying to catch that INITIAL high, that initial childlike amazement, it will NEVER resurface. No matter how long you wait, no matter what the purity of your pills, even if its pure molly. People might call me an idiot, but I am right, that initial high is gone forever, get used to it.

Whilst I agree with this statement to a certain point, I also think its important to remember that you don't need that initial high to have a good time. It's all a mindset and if you enjoy life and enjoy friends and having a good time then you could go to a rave, take no drugs and have an amazing night. why do we need to be obsessed with this 'initial high' and 'losing the magic.' Life never loses its magic, so just keep on cruising and you never know you might start enjoying the more chilled out version of e.

that said, a break is definitely in due measure!

Good luck :)

I'm not sure E "burns out serotonin receptors". Karl Jansen said he was familiar with research showing that some people who had used E more than 1000 times displayed greater serotonin levels than people who had never taken it.

I can't name any specific articles I have read. Various bits of information I have found or seen on shows dedicated to E, but not like the 20/20 or Nightline shit that is all misinformation.

I might be wrong that they are blowing out the receptors, but its one of the few drugs that actually damage your brain. I have heard that the parts of the brain responsible for seratonin get so stimulated they actually fry. This is the case with Methamphetimine and Dopamine receptors. People that used meth a lot in the past actually are often never able to feel the same pleasure as they did before they started using meth after they quit, their brain is permenantly fried.

Hey - I still think its a fun thing and I don't regret trying it a couple times. I would even do it again probably if #1 I KNEW it was a good pill and #2 I had a place and time to do it where it is an extra special occasion.

I guess personally I think a drug that causes THAT effect on you just isn't necessary everytime you go out some place fun. someone mentioned about doing it only on New Years Eve, which I have done, and it was awsome. I could see doing it once a year or something. just my opinion.

If you cant provide the sources then all you are doing is creating misinformation.

You are free to have an opinion but you are not free to state facts without sources.

if u take a long break it could also be possible that you forget what ecstasy exactly feels like...maybe this can be a way to bring back the initial 'wow' factor ?

^ That's what I usually try to do. I know when I've had a long enough break because I'm not able to remember what the high feels like. I find this happens around 3-4 months after my last dose though... some people just can't make it that long and are destined to burn out.

Ditto. I had the best roll in a long time (since those first 5) after giving it a rest for 3 months.

Well I waited 4 months, then bought shitty low dose pills in a club that lasted for 45 mins but still nailed me with the comedown :\ Another 3 months and I'll try again...

I've just taken a break (since August last year) and am gonna be rolling Friday night :) (Lisa Lashes woo woo!!). After the first few weeks you lose the "need" to have it. I started drinking more, don't know which is better, take your pick :p.

As the above poster said, it isnt physically addictive, only psychologically. Take a break, it will be better for the magic and you'll appreciate it more in the end :)

Party safe!

Ultimate Euphoria

I have been taking ecstasy for over 5 years now and I still love it every time I do it.

However I also went through a period where I was using way too often, and I decided to try to slow down mainly because I was worried about what I damage I MIGHT be doing, but more significintly I was worried that it was becoming too important to me.

I know exactly how you are thinking when you think about slowing down, almost like ending a love affair.

However I hope you can take some encouragement from my experience when I tell you that once you start to space your rolls out it does get much easier than you think, because the less you roll the less you think about it in between when your not rolling.

If you are currently using weekly I suggest you do the following

start with 2 weeks from your last roll then allow yourself to roll

next roll 3 weeks

next roll 4 weeks

stay at 4 weeks for the next few rolls, when you get to this stage you will be in a much stronger position to start planning even longer breaks between your useage.

DO NOT FALL IN TO THE TRAP OF UPPING YOUR DOSAGE, if you need more than 3 pills per session your heading for trouble.

(sorry if this is contary to advise given on here but I do not believe that at this stage you will be able to stop immediately)

monitor how you feel and your experiences whilst rolling, if your experiences are still bad then you are at the point where you HAVE TO TAKE A LONG BREAK.

This wont be so hard anyway, because if your experiences with the drug are not so good you wont miss it so much anymore.

However on the plus side if your experiences are good or improving, I wager that you will still find it much easier to space your rolls out, because by now the drug will not be as major in your life as it is now.

You also need to work on finding other interests away from your drug scene, NEVER compare other experiences to ecstasy, every experience is unique and one should never compare one thing to another.

I used to use ecstacy weekly for several years but around the beginning of last year I slowed down using a similar regime to what i described earlier, and believe me it got easier and easier too slow down, this year I have had around 8 or 9 pills since Jan 01, I never thought that would be possible but it was so easy I didnt even have to think about it anymore.

Because of this I have found so many other interests in my life, Ive even started playing saxophone in a band after 5 or so years of not even picking the instrument up.

You must remember one thing

Ecstasy is just a drug, it can be used to enhance your life but NEVER let it become the most important thing in your life.

When your old and grey and you look back on your life, you don't want to look back and say that ALL your finest moments were when you were taking ecstasy.

Go climb a mountain, fall in love, swim in the sea, do this and a thousand more things and you will learn that euphoria comes from within and not just from a chemical.

I promise you it will get easier............stay safe but NEVER be too hard on yourself.

Cheers

OMG....i am reply to your reply to my losing magic thread....you definatley know where im coming from. The feeling that u have to have a good time only when ur taking it.....and your other friends dont understand because they spaced theirs out and never got into the bind that i did. I will never say that i hate E . It has helped me in alot of different way and should be greatly appreciated. I havent done it since saturday....thats not very long obviously but my cousin came down to visit and ive never actually done anything like that with my cousin so i did. i keep saying i will take a break but i never do. I make it through early week but the closer to firday or saturday the closer i fall right back in it. Luckily i had a talk with my cousin about it and i agreed with her that i will stop till the end of june when we have like a small reunion....I really think i might be able to do it....or atleast not this week because it is already thursday and i have no desire to really do it. If you have any tips that would be awesome...see my last day of HS is tomorrow and summer is beginning....and you know where boredom can lead. Any tips because you seem to know your shit or atleast the shit im going through....also did you end up taking more than one month breaks and stuff....i dont think i have to give up for 6 months to actually get going againe but i know that 1-2 times a week is horrible for me. thanks and hope to hear back from you.

Let us know if that mahoosive break actually worked. :)

Sorry for the delay, been busy at work :(

It was a real-anticlimax, the pills we had were duds :X . Definately know it wasn't from a lack of magic so to speak haha, we had a guy with us who hadn't done them before and he got absolutely nothing, same with everyone else.

Trying again this weekend coming!

^ That is so frustrating... same thing happened to me a few weeks back after a 4 month break. Pills came on for about half an hour then left me with a normal comedown... so it'll be another 6 weeks after that pill before I roll again, hopefully will get some good clean beans this time!

Sorry I haven't replied to this earlier but haven't looked in for a while.

The only tip I can give you is to try and slowly phase this obsession from your life, I say 'obsession' becuase thats what it became for me, and I suspect this is where you are right now.

Apart from the obvious tolerance issues, the trouble with weekly use is that the drug is always on your mind, you go through your high, then your come down then you have your midweek lull and before you know it your back at the beginning of the cycle again.

Try the regime I outlined in my previous post.

First start with a 2 week break then 3 weeks etc.....

This is much easier than setting un-realistic targets like 'I'm going to stop for 3 months straight away' ...

As I said previously, when you get your rolls down to every 4 weeks you wont be thinking about E constantly, I promise you once you get to this stage it gets much easier to space your rolls out even further.

I usually now roll about every 6 to 8 weeks, my last roll was 4 weeks ago and I won't be rolling till a music festival in 2 weeks time so that will be 6 weeks since my last drop.

Mind you I have had a couple of nice shroom trips recently, but they aren't for everyone, but IMO phycadellics are much less damaging, but they are hardly a going out drug.

All I can say is that I still really enjoy E but it's no longer on my mind all the time, and overall I am much happier now.

You can do it my friend, just take in steps and you'll get there.

Cheers
Steve
