Last week, Carmen Álvarez Excelsior wrote a report for Salem-News.com claiming the notorious drug gang Los Zetas will attempt to overthrow the Mexican government next year using weapons sent by the United States.

Excelsior said the brutal gang uses an airport in Fort Worth, Texas, to fly the weapons into Mexico. Rejón Aguilar, one of the original seven members of Los Zetas who was recently captured by police, told Mexican officials the gang bought guns directly from the U.S. government under its Operation Fast and Furious.

Excelsior reported that military-grade weapons are also brought into the country through the El Paso-Ciudad Juarez and Palomas-Columbus border crossings.

“Many of the weapons have been stored in safe houses. I think Los Zetas are storing them for the upcoming elections of 2012,” said Robert Plumlee, a former CIA pilot who testified before Congress on drugs and weapons trafficking.

Phil Jordan, former director of the DEA in El Paso, corroborated the report. He said that the weapon stockpiles including anti-aircraft missiles are transported from a Dallas-Fort Worth Airport. The drug gang had set up front companies to buy weapons directly through a State Department program.

The items smuggled into the country from Fort Worth allegedly include grenades, grenade launchers, antiaircraft missiles, body armor, radios, GPS devices, night vision binoculars, and other items.

The Small Arms Survey of 2011 issued by the Institute for International and Development Studies in Switzerland reports that Mexico is the number one importer of RPG’s and “under-barrel” grenade launchers. Mexico imported 429 units followed by Latvia with 250.

According to the U.S. Border Patrol, Los Zetas has bought a number of properties on both sides of the border and use the locations as weapon stockpiles.

The plan by Los Zetas to overthrow the Mexican government was revealed in a report two weeks ago by the El Paso Times. Jordan and a former CIA pilot, Robert Plumlee, told the newspaper Los Zetas transported weapons to El Paso-Ciudad Juarez and the Columbus-Palomas border areas to reinforce their troops battling competing cartels and possibly disrupt the 2012 elections.

Mexico’s drug gangs are financed in part by international bankers. During a trial last year in U.S. federal court, it was discovered that Wachovia (now owned by Wells Fargo) bought planes that shipped cocaine.

The bank also laundered $378.4 billion in drug money.

“Wachovia’s blatant disregard for our banking laws gave international cocaine cartels a virtual carte blanche to finance their operations,” said Jeffrey Sloman, the federal prosecutor in charge of the Wachovia case.

In 2009, the director of the United Nations’ crime and drug watchdog group, Antonio Maria Costa, said in an interview released by Austrian weekly Profil that money made in the illicit drug trade was used to keep banks afloat during the global financial crisis. Costra’s unit found evidence that “interbank loans were funded by money that originated from drug trade and other illegal activities.”

In addition to smuggling guns into Mexico, the U.S. government has worked closely with the drug cartels for years.

According to court papers filed with the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois in Chicago, the son of a top-level Mexican drug kingpin worked for the U.S. government. Jesus Vicente Zambada Niebla, the son of Ismael “El Mayo” Zambada Garcia, one of the top kingpins of the Sinaloa drug-trafficking organization, worked as an asset for the United States.

Niebla is connected to the Gulfstream II jet that wrecked with four tons of cocaine on board on September 24, 2007. European investigators linked the plane’s tail number, N987SA, to past CIA “rendition” operations. The bill of sale for the Gulfstream jet, sold weeks before it crashed, listed the name of Greg Smith, a pilot who had previously worked for the FBI, DEA and CIA.

Well ain't that some shit

Do you actually read that blog unbreakable?

I read a few stories and he doesn't mention any sources for his information...

check out narco news for details on wachovia money laundering and the details on the CIA/Cocaine planes....

Tells the story of the lies of the US Government concerning the Iran-Contra Affair.

George Bush Sr. & Bill Clinton oversaw the smuggling of TONS of Cocaine in & out of Mena, Arkansas (the hub of traffic if you will where the 'Enterprise' conducted business clandestinely.)

I been telling people the Bush family bloodline is behind most of the global black market racketeering going on for a long time now.. Like 2 yrs since I joined ? ;)

God that site is awful..
This thread's title is misleading as hell - not even in the conspiracy-theories are people claiming that wachovia/banks are funding this (was that the guy's blog, or you, unbreakable, that wrote the headline as such?).
And, honestly, "overthrow"? GTFO. "Disrupt in an attempt to sway things" is believable-enough and, honestly, has been expected by some for quite a bit.

Okay, just wanted to clarify those a bit ;P.

The potential disruptions of the elections is an interesting theory though - I'm interested in ppl's thoughts here (ie, which way the zetas would want to see things go, why the zetas would want to attempt violent disruption with these weapons, etc).
To be fair, there could be *zero* plans whatsoever to disrupt the elections, there's only loose speculation that there may be - it'll be interesting to see what actually happens here.

/"overthrow", 1st time I actually LOL'd from the intertubz today :)
//and it's not just that site that sucks; Carmen Álvarez Excelsior needs to take her goddamn meds and calm the hell down already. <EDIT: Same goes for Mr. Nimmo, too>

All those weapons they have are old outdated weapons anyway. Our Govt will just use our top notch new and improved weapons to wipe their [edit: due to a stark lack of creativity and verbal acuity, I have decided to condemn a particular group with an extremely boring, tired racial epithet rather than demonstrate my knowledge of those involved. I also dig on incoherent mixed metaphors.] back to the stone age.

Yes, because you called them beaners (did you really need that clarified?).
You think the immigration problem is due to the cartel violence? LOL, okay bro 8(
And DUH - if you don't know about wachovia et al in relation to drug money, you shouldn't be posting in the 1st place. See what I said, the problem was the thread's title implying that the banks were funding this "overthrow". Reading comprehension, it's good stuff ;)

they are funding it by allowing them to launder money through their banks..so yeah you can say they are funding it in a way, but you are talking shit in your post that is stupid anyway, and yeah they can possiblly overthrow the guvt by disrupting elections. How is that hard to understand? If these people ahve the influence to make the military corrupt, local police corrupt and even scare them to quit, why wouldnt they be able to overthorw? Get your head out of your ass you bleeding heart liberal.. And yeah immigration is def a big part of the drug violence, the quality of life is a direct result of their immigration. thats one major reason thats for sure db..

oh and

Okay fine, and my local credit union funds the local pot dealer's operations... (not even the conspiracy boards are titling THIS article that way - just copy/paste some of the text, this is the only one that's titled as such)

a - disruption /= overthrowing. again, reading comprehension is good stuff ;P
b - they cannot overthrow it even if they wanted to, the idea is asinine on so many levels i don't know where to start. since i doubt you'll offer anything insightful as a reply, i'll just mention some obviousness:
1 ) The US would not allow that to happen (even YOU mentioned this!!). And b4 you respond with "what if the US wanted them to overthrow the gov't?", i'll remind you that insofar as the US (and Mx) are concerned, sinaloa cartel is to be favored, not the zetas.
2 ) The US actively moved arms to a similar situation in S.amer some years back, perhaps you've heard of the FARC? They sure as hell destabilized the gov (and still is), but 'overthrow'? No, not at all.

Out of curiosity, why do you think the zetas would even WANT to overthrow the gov? They're not an idealistic group, they're a for-profit enterprise. Why would they want to turn Mx into a blatant narco-state and draw tons more international issues, when they can make far more cash by simply continuing on their current path of operations? Do you think they're dumb enough to realize the porous borders would disappear, and the WoD would become an actual war? Continuing on as they have been, and infiltrating the gov via terrorism/bribes, is far more profitable, if you see it differently then please explain.

Get your head out of your ass you bleeding heart liberal..
I'm not a "liberal", though ppl who speak in such terms can mean all manner of definitions when saying that, so fucked if I know what you're driving at. I'm 100% liberal when it comes to the social-issue of drugs, as you seem to be as well. I'm about as purely libertarian as you can get tho :)

And yeah immigration is def a big part of the drug violence,
Immigration is not a single part of the drug violence, although i imagine you phrased that wrong. The drug violence is over money, if that's not obvious enough.

Of course the us GUVT wouldnt want them to overthrow but they dont always have the say in that matter and would have to deal with it after the fact...

it wasnt just the US govt that helped FARC it was also the Columbian govt as well and that backfired on everyone just like it usually does when the US GOVT hands people old weaopns to fight a common enemy. and FARC is not big enough or smart enough or rich enough to over throw the columbian govt.

A big controlling drug cartel would be able to dominate the country and gain an advantage over other drug cartels by having their own puppet leader in place. Thats why, they would have a huge advantage.

Right but you know people are leaving there BECAUSE of the drug violence and poor quality of life it creates. Thats one big reason.

Even if the zetas had the military might to wage a decent attempt at an overthrow (they don't), wtf makes you think it'd be so damn short that the US wouldn't be able to intervene til after the fact? If the Mx gov officially "invited" us to help prevent an overthrow, we'd be able to suppress it that very day.
They sure can battle it out in multi-hour shootouts w/ the military (just like the other major cartels), but that is fucking WORLDS away from an open attempt at overthrowing the gov. Your ignorance of the comparative military-mights of Mx/Zetas is astounding. Even out of those who are convinced the zetas want to try for a coup d'état, it's rare to find ppl who think they could pull it off.

they were obscenely rich and smart, and on top of that they had FAR more public support in colombia then than the zetas have in mx. The key elements for any decent chance at an overthrow in Mx are simply missing, and the zetas are absolutely smart enough to know this - ergo my extreme skepticism at actually attempting to overthrow the gov.

Okay, so you're position is that they'd overthrow the gov, and then go after cartels that they couldn't bury before? This assumes a successful overthrow, followed by the military actually listening to the zetas' orders, and the legions of officials corrupted by other cartels simply turning on their past allegiances and working for the zetas. If that's where you're coming from, i question how well you've "been following these scumbags being reported on various sites on the internet for a long time ."
<<edited to add: Also, your theory must take as premise that this somehow happens in a vacuum while the other cartels sit on their hands watching, otherwise you're saying that the zetas are just gonna walk over the gov and assume power AND fight off all the rival cartels simultaneously. that's gotta be some strong shit you're on bro>>

Right but you know people are leaving there BECAUSE of the drug violence and poor quality of life it creates. Thats one big reason.
Poverty is the big reason. If you're talking about specific areas like laredo, fine, but I know you're not.

o and for shitz and gigz, since it's sat pm and i'm on the goddamn internet (forever alone jpg), my 2 biggest "potential" possibilities IF they actually wanted to try to pull something at election time:
1 - they've somehow worked out a pact w/ the other dominant cartels, and the attempt will be precision-coordinated (insanely-unlikely), and
2 - they've worked out, long ago, which politicians are best for them and these politicians are expecting their actions, with the trade-off of helping to get them in power for leniencies once they are elected (extremely-likely TO A DEGREE. expected, par for the course, etc, actually. But, as said, *to a degree*. There's little doubt there'll be some violence at election time, and it's unlikely it'll just be random "cartel-on-gov" violence w/o the cartels caring who/why they're engaging the gov. This is expected, and it'll be interesting to see how it plays out, but IMO there won't be any major 'infiltration', and, IMO, there won't be any actual attempts at overthrow)

Either way Mexico is fucked by these drug lords. They have enough $$ to pay off the military and the politicians,

ok you are right the title of the thread is totally misleading Ill admit when Im wrong..
