London 2012 - The Olympics !!!

I've been flicking between the channels this evening but I must say that what I have seen of the opening ceremony so far has been pretty impressive.
We've done a much better job than I thought we might do.
Good to show the world what a great country we have and I loved the music through the ages section.

The ancient Greeks started the Olympics and the 1st language of the IOC is French.

That was brilliant, started off slow and just got better. A few cringey moments, and I have a feeling a lot of the show wouldn't be understood by a lot of the world.

Absolutely fantastic ceremony. The sheer amount of breathtaking choreography, and the ability to logistically move all the different scenes of the United Kingdom was incredible. What an effort. I think it massively sold the UK, which is always only the intention. Not to blow money flippantly, or without justification. I don't mind paying for the games at all.

McCartney is a fucking idiot though. Your old, hurry up and die. I would have gone for Elton.

I think it was good all in all. Who described it as an overgrown school play was right, but that was part of its appeal. I liked the left wing socio-economic statements as well. i'm getting the impression it went down well with the rest of the world, i think a french paper called it the worlds biggest inside joke, which is was a bit, but that seems OK with everyone.

I was very surprised and impressed with the ceremony, i was expecting some bland mainstream safe dumbed down shit. But not a bit of it. Great music. Only spoilt by the stupid commentators prattling on, thinking they were needed to keep the audience entertained "a little game for you to play at home, see how many artists you can name from this next section." Oh Fuck Off. Apart from the commentators doing their best to dumb it down a good job well done.

I felt sorry for the commentators lol they all sounded pretty relieved when the teams came out and they could relax. It all got a bit awkward & uncomfortable when the huge sinister character was lurching around the arena. Quite right too, the UK right now isn't all roses & unicorn farts.

Team GB have it in the bag. The groups ahead havent got the quality Cavendish has riding around him Froome, Wiggins, Rogers, Millar. Only 2 minutes back now.

Good ceremony but Bejing pissed all over it. Would it have killed that grumpy bastard The Queen to smile? Nice touch not putting McCartney too close to the Torch incase his face melted. Arctic Monkeys covered a Beatles song better than The Beatles covered a Beatles song.
