So for all you DJs out there I have a weird question:
Do you believe it is possible to become addicted to EDM? I have some evidence that may point towards at least an EDM obsession if not addiction.
My Example is my friend who will literally commit crimes to get into sold out shows. This all started last year after her first rave.
She had to borrow several hundred dollars for tickets to a festival for a week, she took off work even though she desperately needed money.
She basically demands her boyfriend to buy tickets for every EDM show she can find in a tri-state area. Even if it financially kills him.
She spent double cover price for tickets to a sold out show (about $500) in a scam, then immediately attempted to buy more tickets off of craiglist. This again destroyed her and her boyfriend financially. She fights with people about going to EDM shows like it's an actual physical need. She'll run herself out of money and time to get in, and if she can't she'll attempt to figure out a way to break into the venue. If all fails she'll have a mental breakdown over it or go into a rage. She has described the behavior as "moments of desperation" and "my escape from reality" etc.
It's causing a serious strain on her financially and killing her relationship with her boyfriend. Seems to meet classic addict behavior from what I can tell.
Anyone have any similar stories/opinions?
