Ive never touched heroin mainly because it's hard to get around these parts and i don't have the cash for it. But i have been addicted to morphine and oxy and everytime i go off the shit the cravings for alcohol comes back.
I was a drunk before a drug addict and as soon as i started using opiates on a regular basis i lost all taste in booze. I came down with chronic pain and i started getting scripts for codeine, morphine, demerol and oxy and the cravings for booze was replaced by cravings for opiates. Im a hell of alot healthier for it now and my life is alot more stable so i can't really complain about the fact that im a junkie now more or less.
I know that if i ever quit opiates altogether ill fall back on the booze for sure. In fact i did quit for awile a few months back and i got drunk for the first time in a long fucking time. To make a long story short i woke up in the drunk tank.
So i think ill stick with opiates no matter how many times i go through withdrawal and no matter how much of a hassle it is it still causes me alot less trouble then alcohol does.
More then likely ill either die a junkie or a drunk and ill die alot sooner if i go back to being a drunk. Being clean just isn't an option for me.
