Let's Talk Craft Beer

Haha lovely :) I had a time were I drank excessively, was a sorority girl throughout my undergrad, but I definitely grew out of it. Feel much healthier not drinking heavily often, and definitely noticed that beer adds a ton of calories. I'm still a sucker for some awesome beer and good wine though --- I don't really like liquor, I feel like if I'm gonna drink booze it should be something I legitimately like the taste of, not just an excuse to get drunk at this point.

i am lucky that i have plebeian taste in beer. gassy water to most but i gotta have my miller lite now and again. i have not been shit faced in ages and usually drink 95% grain alc and club soda.
no hang over from that combo because no sugars in the mix and it is mostly water. really have to watch the dosage when mixing though.

I was drinking Budweiser. Gotta be American this weekend.

What about all the other great PURELY american beers such as "DogFish Head" or "Magic Hat" or "Anchor Steam" or any of the other thousands of much more flavorful american beers?

Although I think bud is a poor excuse for a beer and I personally like my beer to have lots of flavor, I am impressed by what they do.

Budweiser starts with an agricultural product such as barley and rice which is something that by nature varies greatly from batch to batch, field to field, seed to seed, etc.. never giving you the EXACT same product. Yet, budweiser applies science and technology and takes something that is normally by nature a random/unpredictable product and turns it into the EXACT same taste, smell, appearance every time.

That is impressive. It is impressive that they have mastered what they do so well where as they can literally make the exact same product every time from starting ingredients that are never the same every time.

I just wish that a company that has so much talent, knowledge, technology, resources, and money would use their skills to create really good crafted beers in addition to bud.

^ I think that dogfish is alright.

I love magic hat. I have had their #9 the most, but would love to try their variety pack.

Whole Foods usually carries Abita. They have alot of great beers, Amber is very drinkable and a great alternative to more watery domestics. Then there is Purple Haze which is blackberry wheat, Turbodog which is 9% and dark, a Barley Wine, seasonal Satsuma Ale, and a Wheat Strawberry beer in the spring which is amazing. I don't know if you can get that last one outside Louisiana though.

I'm in CT and have purchased every beer you mentioned above so I guess you can get them outside of Louisiana. Awesome brewery! I love everyone of their beers.

Budweiser isn't American, it's owned by the Dutch and was stolen from the Czech Republic.

Go with a MillerCoors product. ;)

Hahahaha hell yea I love that guy. God damn man as soon as I turn 21 I am going to become sponsored by Miller! Has anyone done that yet? Idk if you can still do it but I saw the commercials on t.v. and thought that would be tight.

Other than Miller Highlife, I gotta go with tha COOOORS! I love Coors I used to be all about that Coors light. COORS AND COORS ONLY BABY!!! haha jk

There are only a handfull of non-light beers that I like though...

Does anyone here ever drink Sweetwater beer? They have several flavors my favorites are the OG sweetwater 420 as well as the blue. Sweetwater blue has a blueberry taste and it is FIREEE.

I mainly drink light beers though lol call me a pussy idc, if im partying I'd rather slam like 10-15 beers and get slammed drunk and then slam some PUSSY HAHAHA. but yea if im drinking, im DRINKING and cant stop.... I dont like just sippin on some micro brews and only have like 5-6 in a night. IDK MANE thats just me.

Never got sponsored by a beer company, but following my first year of college, I wrote an impassioned plea to Mickey's Malt Liquor begging them to let me live in/ guard their factory in exchange for free product.

I was serious as shit, too. If they had said yes, I would not have kept on with college.

Purple Haze is one of my all-time favorite beers. Nothing beats living in NOLA though and going to Pontchartrain beach with a 6 pack of Abita Strawberry during the early summer.

What is Purple Haze, like 8%?

Not all of us drink beer to get hammered...for me, I really enjoy the taste (hence why I don't drink "water beer" :)) I don't like getting drunk on beer anyway, too heavy on my stomach and it just ensures I don't get to enjoy the party because I am peeing every 5 minutes.

Beer a subject i love haha. Anyway I'm in college and mostly on a budget nowdays. I drink mainly ice beers with milwaukees best ice being my fave. As far as beers I enjoy drinking for taste blue moon, Chimay, Grolsch's, and guiness. A good in between for me is yuengling black and tan.

Dear lord man, if you are in college, the best thing you can do is rapidly switch to a classy beer like Stella or Peroni or something and watch the ladies panties fly off.

That wont actually really happen, but at least you wont be drinking Beast Ice.
