Let's Talk Craft Beer

So I think I am done drinking beer forever. It gives me gas. I do not get this from wine or most alcoholic beverages. So, fuck beer. Do you guys not get gas and loose stools from beer?

^ It depends, but it isn't a big issue with me. It probably only happens 1 in every 10 times I get wasted. I don't get the beer shits, but I am gassy the next day.

Had my first Stella just now. Wasn't too wild about it. Now moving on to the Blue Moon.

Blue Moon is my default beer, I like a lot of the seasonal ones too although the classic one is great, I like the pumpkin beer quite a bit in the fall. I actually like Stella, but it's been a recently acquired taste - I had one at room temperature due to advice from an older friend and I even enjoyed it.

Blue Moon > Stella IMO so, good choice :)

Haha I agree, definitely a good one.

What is this pumpkin beer you speak of? That sounds fantastical.
I want to pick up some more samples from the lightning brewery. That stuff is awesome.

I have had the Saranac pumpkin ale. It was good, but you can only drink a few of them, and drinking conservatively is not really my thing.

Yeah, basically Blue Moon makes one, as do other companies which JB and Tommyboy pointed out...I'm hoping they have that in California? If not, that actually makes me sort of sad. But, you can only find it in the fall, which is another reason why seasonal beers are awesome --- variety within the same brand depending on the weather and overall time of year :)

Well I'll definitely be looking for it because that just sounds delicious.
One thing I didn't like about the Blue Moon was that it was INSANELY fruity. So I can't really drink a whole bunch or I'll get super sick.

Favorites would definitely be Stella, Newcastle, Guinness stout, and Sam Adams, especially the winter lager. However, the beer of choice at my school is generally PBR, cause we are broke as shit. Granted, as far as really cheap beers go, PBR is pretty decent. A step above Miller high life and at least three steps above Keystone o.0

Zomg these are my absolutely favorite in the fall! I don't think I have had a single pumpkin beer that I did not thoroughly enjoy.

There is a local bar that I go to sometimes that rims the glass with brown sugar, before they pour in the pumpkin beer. I wish I could remember the name of it (will try to find out and post back here), it's pretty potent though, I'm pretty well going after just two of these delicious treats :)

Pumpkin beer is kinda heavy too, mostly meant to be savored...give one a try one night when you're just having 'a beer with friends' and report back to me what you think about it :)

This sounds fucking awesome, I love the fall, and although I'm not a huge fan of alcohol, I fucking love pumpkin beer <3

^Will do.
But tonight, it's a Lightning. =D
I'm thinking an Old Tempest and an Electrostatic.
They only come in 22oz bottles now and they're like seven bucks a piece, but dear lord they're worth it.

^ I'm not a big drinker, I feel like I just have a love for beers and some wine (particularly wine with food though.) Hope you're enjoying you're not so legal booze Keaton ;)

I second this. You're not going to find yourself pounding beer after beer of pumpkin beer unless you want to give yourself a heck of a stomach ache. It's a great fall beer to have out with friends though

Totally agree. I think Blue Moon's summer ale is really good in the summer also...I also like corona + lime during the super hot NYC summer, which is sort of out of character for me.

I'm gonna miss this place in Buffalo called Shannons, very authentic Irish bar, bathroom signs written in Irish, right near where I've lived...awesome french onion soup, poutine fries, and a Murphys that they allow to sit for just the right about of time. Absolutely perfect combination :) Thank you to BLer Ph0r.W3-R-m4ny for introducing me to such an awesome eating establishment :) Their fish fry is to die for as well.
