i agree with that. every breakfast of mine revolves around a sunny-side up egg and slice of deli turkey with a few slices of cucumber and tomato on the side. very quick and easy to make.
the reason i eat that and only that for breakfast (ok, i also take a multivitamin and iodine with some water afterwards) is because i'm not a morning person and breakfast has always been the toughest meal of the day to get through. if i eat a lot i get sluggish as hell and feel like crap and if i eat too little of lesser quality food (carbs) then my energy doesn't last.
i could be eating toast or a bowl of cereal and get the same amount of calories however that gets metabolized extremely fast and provides a surge of energy that falls off quickly and needs to be supplemented.
my egg and turkey breakfast is roughly 200 calories TOTAL and generally keeps me alert for five hours after before i really need food. that's a hell of a stretch for the first meal of the day after having fasted for twelve hours prior (because of sleep, duh). being a bit of a calorie freak, i'm always looking to exploit calories to get the most mileage out of each one and time and time again i come to the conclusion that a simple egg contains the most complex calories and allows the body to stretch them as far as possible.
Good for you for taking iodine! Smart. Very smart.
I agree about the length of time eggs seem to sustain you. I crash very easily sometimes *I used to anyway, before I healed some of my worse blood sugar issues* and eggs were one of the few things I could eat and feel confident I'd make it to the store and back or whatever without food and not have a crash.
I love eggs! There's so many great ways to make them. I have made them almost every way. Deviled eggs are really good, and not as difficult to make as you'd think! They're great with ratatouille. Eggs Florentine is also amazing, as is a french omelet! I personally dislike sunny side up eggs.
Eggs are fantastic! Good source of vitamins, protein, amino acids and more. All this bullshit about having too many eggs is crap. Do the research, they key is having a balanced diet.
I drink 3 raw eggs almost every day for breakfast.
I tried that years ago and really could not manage it. Also tried one that had tobasco sauce in it and a few other ingredients just could not manage it, made me gag.
I love eggs cooked but raw is just not for me. this morning I had a fried egg with my brekkie, sunny side up
^ they're pretty rough on the throat too. Seeing as the protein in whites is better absorbed when cooked perhaps the best of both worlds would be an egg white omelette with the yolks thrown in say a banana smoothie?
Mmmmmm I think I know what I'm having for breakfast tomorrow :D
^^ putting an egg yolk in with a banana milkshake actually does not sound bad at all, just thinking a touch of cinnamon with it sounds great, might give it a go. eggs go so quickly in this house tho, getting to try something new is not always easy after the list of things that needs done. I get about 6-8 eggs day and find between baking, breakfast for us lot they are gone.
For the first time in my life today I took a cold hard-boiled egg to work with me to have for lunch. All you egg-lovers should be proud of me
I sliced it up over a green leaf salad with dressing after a hard workout at the gym at lunchtime. Nomm

Although a good idea, I am far from being the morning person and don't have enough time (or give myself enough time for that matter) to cook myself a nice breakfast. But as you suggested, throw in a banana and some raspberries/blueberries and you've got yourself a tasty smoothie :D

I know a dude who claims his ability to quit smoking cold turkey was due to his drinking several raw eggs for breakfast everyday. He said it made him feel like superman. %)
I'm not sure if this will warrant it's own entire thread but let's see how it pans out...
My story with eggs so far, for whoever is interested and/or bored:
NSFW:
All my life I have absolutely despised eggs. I hate the taste, the smell, the texture, the hassle of the shells, everything. I've only ever occasionally eaten scrambled eggs or an omelette, but only if there's a whole heap of herbs and cheese and stuff in there as well. Even the word EGG gets my skin crawling...
But lately I'm beginning to consider the health benefits (particularly with respect to a good source of protein and weight-loss) that I could get from eating, say, a boiled egg or two for breakfast, instead of just carbs e.g. toast or museli, which is what I eat for breakfast now. Or having a boiled egg for a snack instead of dried fruit or nuts or the occasional biscuit.
My boyfriend absolutely LOVES eggs and when he's on holidays (like he has been for the last few weeks) he has eggs every single day, sometimes twice a day. He left this morning for another 4 weeks (he works away from home) and lo and behold, what is pretty much the only thing left in the fridge when I got home from work?? A half-carton of eggs.
So I called my boyfriend and asked him how to boil an egg. He had to explain the procedure in great detail, because I've never boiled an egg before. I boiled up 4 of them because by this stage I was really hungry. I sat down in front of the TV, de-shelled them, cracked some salt and pepper over them, and nommed my way through FOUR BOILED EGGS!! I've never even eaten ONE boiled egg EVER, let alone FOUR!
I really liked it. Maybe it was just because I was so hungry, or maybe it was the seasoning I put on them, or maybe eggs really are that good and I should've known this all along. I'm thinking this could now be my new healthy snack. I'm going to get a fresh carton of eggs at the shops tomorrow.
tl;dr
I've always hated eggs but I think I've just discovered that I like boiled eggs.
My questions:
If I, say, eat a few boiled eggs per day, could it help me to lose weight? Or could it actually cause me to gain weight? Is it really such a healthy alternative to other snacks or other sources of protein? I know I should be wary of cholesterol, and I plan to discuss that with my doctor when I'm there next. Is there anything else I should know or be concerned about when it comes to eggs?? I am a complete and utter egg noob.
n3o I stick wboiled eggs so i an just take the egg whites off - or I just pour out the whites and drink em with a shake ( I know it's not nice thought ) - but BUT - i do have 50 recipes for healthy eggs. Lmk.
Thanks dude!! I'm sticking with hard-boiled for now, just because I know I'm enjoying them. If/when I get bored with them I'll hit you up for some recipes
