Legal high: the party pills stronger than ecstasy

Splatt: the original article is from Ireland :)

A Bill to make BZP (and related substances*) illegal in NZ was introduced early last month, with the expectation that it will come into force in December. There will be an amnesty for possession of small amounts (<100 pills or 5gm) for personal use for six months after that date.

The Bill is facing legal challenges from the industry, if I understand right.
It also faced a Bill of Rights challenge from the NZ Attorney-General ;): the Bill assumes that possession of >100 pills/5gms is evidence of intent to supply; and the burden of proof is on the accused to prove that they didn't intend to supply. The AG claims that the 100pills/5gms figure is too low.

*TFMPP, McPP, MeOPP, a few others.

i really enjoyed the bzp pill i had. made me creative mad! and the comedown wasn't too bad. prolly due to the fact that it's got loads of amino acids n vits in to help

^ or it could have been a sensible dose, when we sold pills with 75mg bzp and they were 4 to a pack, nobody complained about come downs for the first year or so. Once people started selling 100mg BZP with a sneaky 5mg TFMPP undeclared in each pill and they were 6 to a pack and the packs started getting sold 2 for the price of one, and then unregulated market pressure caused dosage escalation and packsizes grew into multi-packs of 18 pills and then all the pills became 200mg BZP plus up to 33% TFMPP as well and they started getting sold not underground but in every retail outlet with a cash register to people who drank a lot of alcohol ... that's where progressively more and more complaints about comedowns and overdoses come in ...

Are shops still selling these in the UK? The MHRA kept trying to make out that they were banned under existing law, and busting sellers, but that was never true.

While '5x' is completely arbitrary, assuming all these shit pills going round the UK atm are indeed BZP, I think the body load and comedown/hangover off them is very much higher than MDMA.

I would say this article is a pure hack job. It must of took them less then 10 minutes to research and write.

Shops are terrified, retailers all got some pretty nasty threatening letters from that MHRA crowd who have the power to raid, rob and asset strip you if you selling anything edible whether it is illegal or not and while you are waiting for your day in court they use "proceeds of crime act" type laws to prevent you from making any more money to fund your case, which by the way will probably be quite a few years away. They don't have to be right about it because they have so much power to interfere with your business and day to day life that nobody wants to mess with them.

.: OUCH :.

you know it wouldn't surprise me if this was part of the gov's plan all along. At first they could see nothing to ban it with. As the market forces went in the direction you state, people start having problems and a reason for banning arises, all the time the gov. gets to say "well we gave you a chance but you lot cant control yourselves and look at all the trouble these high dose pills are causing, we have to save you from yourselves. where's my ban stick ?"
