A Bill to make BZP (and related substances*) illegal in NZ was introduced early last month, with the expectation that it will come into force in December. There will be an amnesty for possession of small amounts (<100 pills or 5gm) for personal use for six months after that date.
The Bill is facing legal challenges from the industry, if I understand right.
It also faced a Bill of Rights challenge from the NZ Attorney-General
: the Bill assumes that possession of >100 pills/5gms is evidence of intent to supply; and the burden of proof is on the accused to prove that they didn't intend to supply. The AG claims that the 100pills/5gms figure is too low.
