The stimulant effect of kratom is the same as yohimbine, according to Wikipedia. I'd have to say that there is a definite comparison, I tried yohimbine before and I felt flushed and shaky, certainly wired. I found it to be edgy and unpleasant.
Before I made the mistake of switching to pods (damn you morphine) I used to be a huge fan of kratom, with the exception of the taste of the tea... fucking awful. But my point is that the stimulant factor was very similiar between the two, but kratom also had the opiate relaxing effect which made the stimulant effect much less edgy and agitating.
I used whole leaf kratom
once daily and never found the withdrawal to be too bad when used responsibly, as in not dosing multiple times a day with extracts and superhigh doses. I would usually binge for a few days using the same dosage, and once the effects got weak I would take a 2 - 3 day break.
One day I got curious about nodding (could never do that with kratom personally), bought pods and I've been a slave ever since. I forced myself to withdrawal after I ran out of pods the first time, thinking I could handle it as I could handle kratom so well. POD WITHDRAWAL IS HELL COMPARED TO KRATOM. Be responsible and stick to kratom. The effects are very short compared to a lot of opiates, therefore the withdrawal is certainly shorter.
Sorry to ramble... I made a huge thread talking about my subjective thoughts on both kratom and pod tea, and comparing the withdrawals but it died with like 2 responses
