Kratom

kratom's nausea
i don't think it's a tolerance thing. i've done it for a month straight and still get nauseated and hungover after. are you eating the solids, or using an extract? i find there's less bodyload with the extracts or tea.

I found the most economical way to do kratom was to buy the premium commercial grade leaf and to make my own tea by simmering water on the stove. It works well and I found that boiling it didn't even hurt the potency of the tea. I wouldn't recommend boiling it for a long time, but it's easy to make tea and it works well.
With the extracts you don't usually get your money's worth. The 15x "standardized" extract felt more like 7.5x extract, and it cost a lot of money.
I've mainly used this stuff to help with opiate withdrawal. I did get a couple of good experiences from it when I had zero opiate tolerance. It's worth trying, but it can definitely make you sick.

everyone is saying that it will make you sick, so how sick are we talking- are you just going to vomit once and feel better after, or are you sick the whole time. I do not like getting sick so maybe there is some trick that helps it. Is the high worth feeling sick for?

I was wondering about that too , since tramadol works while on suboxone , would kratom work as well?

From what I understand, one of the main alkaloids (mitragynine) works on norepinephrine at lower doses and the mu-receptor at higher doses; my guess would be you would get the stimulant type effects but not the opioid like effects.

ETA: The other alkaloids I think only work on the opioid receptors, not sure.

The stimulant effect of kratom is the same as yohimbine, according to Wikipedia. I'd have to say that there is a definite comparison, I tried yohimbine before and I felt flushed and shaky, certainly wired. I found it to be edgy and unpleasant.

Before I made the mistake of switching to pods (damn you morphine) I used to be a huge fan of kratom, with the exception of the taste of the tea... fucking awful. But my point is that the stimulant factor was very similiar between the two, but kratom also had the opiate relaxing effect which made the stimulant effect much less edgy and agitating.

I used whole leaf kratom once daily and never found the withdrawal to be too bad when used responsibly, as in not dosing multiple times a day with extracts and superhigh doses. I would usually binge for a few days using the same dosage, and once the effects got weak I would take a 2 - 3 day break.

One day I got curious about nodding (could never do that with kratom personally), bought pods and I've been a slave ever since. I forced myself to withdrawal after I ran out of pods the first time, thinking I could handle it as I could handle kratom so well. POD WITHDRAWAL IS HELL COMPARED TO KRATOM. Be responsible and stick to kratom. The effects are very short compared to a lot of opiates, therefore the withdrawal is certainly shorter.

Sorry to ramble... I made a huge thread talking about my subjective thoughts on both kratom and pod tea, and comparing the withdrawals but it died with like 2 responses :(

Kratom is one of my favorite drugs now. It has a deliciously unique buzz that is opiated yet highly motivational. The headspace is clear and relaxed with a strong psychedelic undertone not found in traditional opiates (except morphine). My favorite part of kratom is how deep the buzz is, I stumble and have "underwater" vision similar to being very drunk but without all the crap effects of alcohol. But as everyone mentioned the taste is vile and many suffer bad nasuea. Kratom is best done in the 5 to 12 gram range. After that the sickness and hangover become overwhelming.

it feels comparable to too many poppy pods - nausea / dizziness / real heavy need to sit still kind of thing. but once you find your 'goldilocks' dose the positive outweighs the negative. it can be really euphoric and has unique nuances.

what if i take kratom while im on suboxne maintenance? im guessing i wont feel shit. i need confirmation....

^ My guess is that you'll feel the delta opioid receptor stimulation from kratom, but any mu action will be blocked by the bupe. I haven't tried the combo, I doubt very many people have.. Most people either use one or the other. I suppose a few people are looking for ways to make their suboxone more enjoyable. I'd also be interested to see if anyone has experience with this combo.

I really doubt it would punch through suboxone but give it a try. More than likely you will just shake like a leaf from the adrenergic stimulation, sub has a super high binding affinity, I dont see kratom displacing it.

I don't think kratom's mu-binding will break through a decent suboxone blockade but you could give it a shot. Kratom, kinda like tramadol and a few other substances, don't just work off the mu-receptor, it affects the monoamine systems as well so I'm sure you will have some sort of effect...I dunno why but I just can't get into kratom...tried a bunch of different preparations, different brands, strains, etc...and it just doesn't seem to do me much good. And I don't know if anyone else feels this but it always seems to leave me with a migraine-like headache after a while..anyone else have that experience?:\

I just tried kratom for the first time. I was really surprised how much of an effect it had, especially after making pod tea many times. Their was definite euphoria and a great body high. I also really enjoy tramadol, even after using morphine and oxycodone.

I wonder if most people who find tramadol very recreational will also find tramadol the same way? sine they both work on the mu-opioid receptor.

Yea kratom is a strong herb. I find it better than alot of opiates.
Agreed. The Delta/Mu receptor affinities provide me with a nice anti-depressant effect. Another plus is that it's an NMDA antagonist to help keep tolerance low.

I find that it's best not to mix Kratom with other opiates. It's Mu agonist/antagonist effects kinda dull the effects of other opiates IMO.

I am of the opinion that kratom is a very strong psychoactive. It has been becoming progressively stronger in both opiate and psycedelic effects for me. Particularly when mixed with cannabis it has serious mind revealing potential but often goes to dark places. Tread lighly, just because it is legal does not make it a soft drug or purely recreational, Kratom is quite powerfull IMO.

First couple of times I took kratom, I thought it maybe had felt somewhat psychedelic. Eventually those effects diminished and I just got the stimulant/opiate effects. The opiates effects were quite euphoric though with the proper grade of leaf!!

I'd say more euphoric than morphine by a long shot, though it lacks the sedating properties of others opiates.

I can't seem to get my kratom to work right - can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong?

I have 10x extract from a reputable vendor. So far I've taken it three times. Details:

Friday: 2.5g + 1 beer at T=1:00 + weed at T=2:30.
Saturday: 3.25g + 1 beer at T:1:00 + weed at T=2:30.
Wednesday: 3.25g + weed at T=2:00.

Taken on an empty stomach. Powder was weighed and mixed with 6 oz. warm water and a couple teaspoons of maple syrup, than drank. A full dinner was eaten about 1.5 hours post ingestion.

The good part is that I get a very nice, deep buzz. The bad part is that this buzz is only present a fraction of the time. Most of the time I feel only a very slight buzz. Sometimes I've felt vague nausea, which was relieved by staying very still and closing my eyes. Then I'd feel instantly good, but without the strong buzz that I got only glimpses of.

How can I make the buzz more present without getting very sleepy (which happened to me on the first of the above three times)? Thanks for any assistance!

That's just how kratom is unfortunately. It's not the best opioid. You get like a 1-2 hour opiate like high from it if you don't have a high tolerance to other opioids. It helps a lot for opiate withdrawal, but since it's a mu agonist it ends up just prolonging the withdrawal somewhat. For me it was still worth it. I wouldn't buy this stuff to get a buzz, not unless I was somewhat desperate, heh.
