Opioids Kratom Mega Thread v. 5

How well does kratom store long term (6 months to a year, for example)?

I would assume whole leaf would last the longest, followed by crushed then finely milled.

Would finely milled kratom hold up well for about a year if stored loosely in a cool dark environment? Or should it be sealed up air tight?

I remember reading that some of the alkaloids can oxidise with age. From what I remember, this change might effect the kind of high (it'll become more or less stimulating, for example) but that kratom doesn't necessarily loose effectiveness when exposed to air long term. This is just loosely based speculation on my part based on something I might have read... Don't assume it's correct.

I heard it stores fine. Keep it dry tho so it doesn't mold.
 
Wait, what i'm hearing now is that kratom is NOT YET illegal.

From the articles linked in Drugs and Media the DEA has apparently been surprised by the backlash from Kratom supporters and they are saying they will delay the ban momentarily and open a public forum to discuss it, but the DEA is still stating "it's not a matter of IF but WHEN it becomes illegal" FUCKING ASSHOLES.

It seems we still have a SMALL shot.

I ain't holding my breath, and still have to be realistic that it doesn't look good for Kratom because the DEA is so downright evil it's like trying to stop Darth fucking Vader, but IF the reports are true it MIGHT not YET be illegal.

I want to hear more info about this to verify.
 
What would you guys recommend for starting dose?

I take Prozac and Valium daily.

I have original blend, looks like green crushed leaf Kratom.

Each capsule is about .7g.

I just want to experience a decent high.

I'm also on short course if prednisone for asthma.

Will I be ok trying out Kratom? What a good starting dose?

Does anyone know the answer to Mycophile's question? Has Kratom officially been banned yet?
 
I guess they want to collect the personal data from the ban opponents first, in order to prosecute them more quickly after it became illegal.
 
No , they haven't banned yet ..... Could be any day - my guess is a week or so
Kratom can be found locally ( vague enough I hope ? )

no, their is not enough resources for that. It wouldn't be profitable.
 
for anyone holding out hope....just think of how much support there is for medical MJ, both population and scientific support. DEA won't even change it from schedule I.

the support for kratom is nothing compared to MJ

While that is true, one difference is that weed DIDN'T have opposition BEFORE it was scheduled. Back then there was probably ZERO opposition and no internet for people to easily make their opinions heard but now we can oppose this shit FROM THE SECOND the intention is placed to schedule a drug by the DEA, and while i'm NOT overly optimistic, if you read the article posted in Drugs and Media supposedly 10% of congress is against the ban and even Bernie Sanders has signed the petition!!!

It states that "the DEA was caught off guard by the backlash" and surprised by how many opponents there were.

If MJ had the opposition it has NOW from the very second the DEA TRIED to make it illegal I do NOT believe it would have EVER become scheduled, but we are fighting them on something that was scheduled back in the 30s or 20s if I'm not mistaken and that's a LOT of history to fight against.

Honestly, the Reddit Kratom forum has a LOT more information on this issue and Kratom in general than bluelight does and there's some interesting discussion going on there.

People are saying that maybe we are or can set a precedent for opposing the DEA.

I mean while we MIGHT not be successful with Kratom, what I read on Reddit about the issue started to make me question the following:

Will there EVER be a day when the DEA tries to schedule something and the people SUCCESSFULLY oppose them??

I HAVE to think that ONE day it WILL happen, and why couldn't it possibly be this time???

As powerful as they are the DEA does NOT have completely unchecked power.

Congress and the president have more power than them and they can't literally schedule ANYTHING they want WHENEVER they want.

The world IS changing and many people are becoming sick of government institutions telling us what we can and can't do (not just regarding drugs) and the world's political climate can change.

I don't think the war on drugs will end in our lifetime BUT I DO think it's quite likely that the DEA might try to do SOMETHING that is successfully opposed by the people and congress in our lifetime.

This MIGHT not be the time...but I feel that all systems break down EVENTUALLY.

Nothing lasts forever, and the DEA's days of scheduling any and all substances they want whenever they want may not be ETERNAL.

Sure, all the usual drugs other than weed will probably stay illegal throughout our lifetime...BUT, I think it is quite likely that they could be successfully opposed on certain issues within our lifetimes.

They are AT LEAST seeing that the people won't sit idly by with 140,000 signatures to the petition INCLUDING Bernie Sanders himself, and I would not be surprised if certain people in the DEA are actually a BIT surprised and taken aback by our efforts and perhaps not happy with it...and that at the very least is something I can take solace in.

I'm hoping in our lifetime we can do SOMETHING to oppose them, and shut down at least ONE law the DEA tries to pass, whether it's on Kratom or another substance.

They WILL weaken in time, their power CANNOT last forever.
 
These things all start with just ONE successful opposition after all, and once the precedent has been set there are ALWAYS more to follow.

The DEA is quite possibly scared about this.

NOT so much the Kratom issue in particular, but that this SEEMS to me to be more opposition than they have had in a while to their attempt to schedule anything.

Can anyone else confirm or deny with how much opposition the DEA got last time they tried to schedule a substance, ESPECIALLY an emergency scheduling to schedule ONE???

Was there this much opposition in the way of 140,000 signatures and 10% of congress supporting it last time they tried to do this kind of thing???

Cause I dont' think there was and IF there wasn't, then the DEA probably does NOT like this.

This COULD be the very SLOW beginnings and rumblings of a future "revolution" against the DEA.

These things ALWAYS start slowly, but once they hit they REALLY hit.

Kratom COULD be the start of it, or it might not...but at least it's opposition, and any opposition is good.

Exactly, the reason marijuana has and needs so much support is because how it was illegal for over half a century. That means the government has a HUGE investment in making it illegal. It takes a tremendous force of momentum to reverse all those years of prohibition, as there are powerful people who benefit from keeping things the way they are. Legalizing brings about huge changes, as we have seen with the states that have legalized medical or recreational use. Even growers have been known to vote against legalization, as they don't want to lose their corner of the market.

With kratom we don't have this problem. We are not reversing decades of prohibition, so we dont need as much support to effect changes. Truly it would be helpful if groups like NORML would lend us a hand here though.
