Last evening I downed 2 teaspoons, about 8-10 grams, of "Super Indo" Indonesian Kratom purported to be of the highest-quality. It was my first experience with this substance.

I was expecting to feel something in about 15 minutes, but it didn't come on for about 30-45 minutes. At first, there was a sort of buzzing in my head and I felt a little sedated. When I stood up and walked around my balance felt somewhat off. But it was not euphoric at all.

At about the hour and a half mark, I was just plain dizzy and it was difficult to keep my eyes open. The best way to describe it was like the bedspins from drinking too much alcohol. I had to lie down to keep from getting nauseous.

After about 3 hours it started wearing off and I had a little something to eat. I slept good last evening and I feel fine this morning. I went to the gym and my workout did not suffer at all.

Overall, it was not an enjoyable experience and I don't plan on doing this again. Kratom was horrible. Does anybody else share my opinion about this stuff?

i dunno, i get a lot of euphoria from it. pot in combination though is essential. with pot it may have been more enjoyable.

however after being basically addicted to opiates for 2 years (clean now) i probably wont go back to kratom if/as long as morphine etc is available. kratom is overpriced.

As my name suggests, I do like Kratom. Unfortunately I have such a monster of a tolerance to morphine that Kratom would do absolutely nothing for me if I were to take it. When I used to use it, I found that it was quite euphoric and was mildly stimulating. I could easily function under the influence of this plant and found it to be quite helpful in social situations as it lowered my inhibitions (almost as much as alcohol, but without the sloppiness). If you get Kratom from a good quality source and have little tolerance to opiates or, preferrably, are opiate-naïve, it will be quite worthwhile. I would recommend combining it with a dose of a benzo (clonazepam is my favourite for this purpose).

Kratom is my friend, but like my relationship with opiates, we never get too close.

Quality varies significantly. I've had 8grams/dose kratom on down to about 22grams/dose kratom, and many in between.

Again, I find it highly relatable to opiates, but with a mildly-speedy buzz during the onset.

Someone who finds opiates unpleasant would likely find kratom unpleasant. And a lot of people aren't into opiates.

Takes all kinds, I suppose.

I've always fancied kratom as I'm very fond of opiates... but was a bit too fond for a while so have to be extremely cautious with them these days. Kratom, from all I've heard, has many similarites - including unpleasant withdrawals - but is fairly pricey, I believe. I'm sure I'll give it a go, but keep it for occasional use. Ha! Or at least try to :D.

PS: AfterGlow - perhaps you just overdid it slightly if it made you feel that rough. Maybe a smaller dose would be more comfortable for you. Or, as Aldousage pointed out, many people just don't enjoy opiate-like effects and you could be one of them.

I have some kratom liquid extract but am currently on suboxone, have any of you guys tried taking kratom on subs and seeing if you get any effects? I would think not, but i dunno sense kratom is a 'different' type of opioid.... kinda like how tramadol works while on suboxone, but thats the only 'opioid' like substance ive found that can work WITH the bupe. so i dunno what u think about kratom and suboxone? would it work?

AfterGlow, it does sound like you overdid it slightly. If you still have any left I recommend trying it at a lower dose. Kratom is overpriced for sure and is seen by many as inferior to the "true" opioids, but it is by no means a waste if you do it right.

The active alkaloid, mitragynine, present in Kratom, acts on the mu-opioid receptor and so buprenorphine which has a high affinity for this receptor would block it from working.

Everything depends on what you're looking for and how you're trying to find that out...

Some people really like kratom.

When I was opiate naive I started with kratom, and that stuff would have me buzzing quite pleasantly. I also must agree that some weed is a must.

The extremely short duration of this stuff turns me away though, I've found much more economical ways of getting high with opiates.

I agree with you after glow. I had a very similar experience with high dose kratom- dizzy/spins/nasea. I also had rapid heart beat and feelings of impending death. I had many experiments with Kratom but I just don't like the buzz. I stick with 'real' opiates.

great name

I just took too much kratom about 45 minutes ago, to get into the spirit of this thread.

I drank a brew containing 16.5 grams after having had 12 grams earlier today (about three hours ago). I'm in a very speedy onset period right now. My everything is clenched. Not entirely unpleasant, but notably excessive.

I'll keep you posted (unless I suddenly pass out).

This isnt a dig at you personally, but whats the point of a drug that needs pot to be any good? I dont getit myself :p

It does sound a bit like the ol' "too much dysphoria" that comes with larger doses that you're unprepared for.
Do you have much of a tolerance in general AfterGlow?
I've never tried it personally, but I'm interested.
Though I don't take too well to the price of the stuff :\

first couple of times taking it was great. after a while yeah it was dizzying and no fun at all....

I don't have any tolerance to opiates, at least not from taking them. The extent of my opiod experience is being on a self administering morphine IV while hospitalized after a vehicle accident. That was the best sleep of my life! :)

From what I read, lower doses are more stimulating than sedating. That's why I took the dose I did. I was prepared for some nausea, but I thought it would be caused by the gastrointestinal effects of the powder. The nausea was caused by vertigo. So I found myself lying down to avoid getting dizzy. My breathing got really shallow and I felt like going to sleep at 7pm. But it was not my idea of a good time. I guess it just isn't for me.

kratom.... well im naive as hell i have no idea what that is, ive actually never even heard of it until this thread.... does it go by any other names
