Kicking Methadone Clinic

Erowid said:
Hydro is THE WORST withdrawal as far as physical. I was down for 3 weeks and still couldn't get it together.

Xanax is the worst head withdrawal with the seizures and such, but I NEVER want to try and kick Hydro again. That's partly what put me on done again!

well i'm not glad to see someone suffering; but i am glad to know that I am not the only one that finds hydrocodone to be the worst to kick by far ! I have never experienced restless leg or deep bone cramps like that given to me by hydrocodone withdrawals.......... morphine was the next worst for me but nothing can touch hydrocodone for my chemistry (and obviously yours too!)

Xanax I have been VERY FUCKING CAREFUL with...... I already flouted warnings from opioids and got the worst of that....... i have NO desire to find out what benzodiazepine withdrawal is like. The closest I've come is cessation of 5mg of diazepam per day taken to break anxiety/adrenaline/PVC loops when i get heart PVC's. Day 5 I could feel it some, but nothing major.

I have major respect for anyone that's kicked xanax (and hydro (and really anything physically involved) for that matter.

Unfortunately LAAM isn't being made anymore,

If i remember correctly, LAAM was causing a lot of problems with long QT interval in the heart, and a significant percentage of people dropping dead from long QT / Torsades de Pointes........ methadone can prolong QT interval as well but nothing like LAAM supposedly. It's too bad it had such bad side effects, it's efficacy in recovery setting was pretty good from what i heard.

detoxing of Suboxone IMO is easier then Methadone. you aren't really physically addicted to it like your are Methadone

To those who think hydrocodone has the worst withdrawal, I disagree. Fentanyl, heroin, or oxycodone can give harder physical withdrawal symptoms in my opinion. The first time I went through full blown withdrawal was after a 7 month 70mg hydrocodone habit. It sucked, but valium made it bearable. A few years later I did other opioids more frequently and I've experienced much worse acute physical withdrawal from fentanyl and oxycodone. I've never withdrawn from heroin, but most people say the w/d is hard. It seems like it would be.

Any pharmaceutical is harder to kick as these drugs are engineered to get to the right receptors to do the job. I've kicked every opiate and have to agree that Fent, Oxy, Dilly, methadone and Hydro are tough. It is the long term WD that kills you.
I had a pretty major heroin jones back in the 70's (yeah, I'm an old junkie), and after 7 - 10 days I at least felt human. These other things destroyed me for several weeks and usually longer than I could wait so I end up getting on something else to eliminate the bad feeling.

I am currently coming off of a 100 mg MMT program run and am down to 15mg. So far it has been incredibly non-remarkable. I am just hoping the rest of the way goes OK. MMT clinics are the most degrading Orwellian experience!

When I kicked Done I went from 100mg of that cherry colored opiate juice to 30mg in 14 days, that's 5mg a day, what most would call a dive-bomb detox. I switched to suboxone and then quit that and relapsed on heroin for about 9 months.

Today I am on the suboxone program and it works perfect for me, I take 12 mg sublingually in the morning and it holds me all day and all night. I can't answer your question directly but from what I've heard walking away at 2.5mg is just as bad as walking away at 100mg, <- However, that is just "what I've heard." You know how people tell horror stories in the Juice Line, at least in Seattle at the Methadone clinic I went to they did.

Just get off of Methadeath no matter what it takes but I recommend Buprenorphine... Feel free to PM me if you have any more questions or if you just need to talk.

More than one love,

Tell them you want off. They'll slowly wean you. Once you get under 70 or so mg's per day, the decrease is much more gradual. At that point, and especially at the point you're at, it's not just a physical thing; the psychological aspect of "being opiate free" plays a major factor IMO.

If I were you at 20mg's per day, I'd drop no more than 2mg's per week. And probably 1mg after you're at 10mg or so.

Good luck.

Phrozen is right. You can taper down if you do it slowly. I have never kicked done because I am on MMT. I know some of my friends have tapered down slowly, and had very little discomfort. If you are doing this for you, and know you are ready, you will most likely succeed.. I am also an old dope fiend and have been on the rollercoster for over 30 years. I will be on MMT until they come up with a cure for addiction..I was on a buph trial and that drug was horrible, but some people swear by it. Just do what your body tells you. There is no reason to go through WD's if you do it right. Once you taper compleatly off, keep in touch with your Counselor for support. I used to go to an Aegis Clinic, and they even have drug free clinics for patients who have tapered and still need support..

I have an appointment to see the MMT Dr on tuesday and they said it would be all day long and they are going to give me urine screen and all that, and that I shouldnt have xanex, valiums, klonapins and stuff like that in my system when I come in. Then I have to come back thursday for my medication.. I don't understand thing.. what about tuesday and wed? Are they not going to give me any meds when I go in there tuesday? Why do I have to wait to see the dr to get my medicine til thursday?? Could someone help me out because this is my first time going to a clinic and I'd like to know what im looking at when I go in there. First off, I dont look like a typical addict ( i know addicts come in all shapes and sizes ) but I guess im saying I hide it well. I never binge, I only take the medicine and stuff to ease my discomfort(WD) and to be producitve, and I do have pain. My tolerance to Methadone is at 40mg and pretty much the same for Oxys ( in 24hr time period) I dress super nice and wear a new pair of shoes everyday. I'm a very clean cut person and Im wondering if this will effect how they treat me in there? Could someone just give me the overall experience if they could, I'd realllly, truely apreciate it.

I dont know what State you live in, so I cant say much about the clinic rules, but if you have a valid prescription for a benzo, I dont think they can tell you that you cant take it. That 2 day waiting thing doesnt sound right to me. If you want to E Mail me, I can show you a website where there are people that know the laws. What concerns me the most is are you sure you want to go to a methadone clinic? Methadone is a long term commitment and it should be thought through. Methadone IMHO is for addicts like me who have tried and failed everything else. I have been an addict for 30+ years, and I didnt make the choice to be on MMT until I was in my early 40's. I had done 21 day detoxes, tried NA, I was one of the first test subjects for Buph. (Suboxone) I finally got on MMT because I was killing myself. I am just too old for this crap.
When you do walk into a clinic, you will find that most patients look like anyone else. I think people think addicts look like the ones on the HBO fiasco Methadonia. I wont leave my house without a shower makeup the whole nine yards. Anyway, if you want to talk, please feel free to PM or e mail me..

BTW Please be careful taking a benzo with methadone, the combo can kill you. Take them only as directed

I pmed you. I dont take benzos at all, they just told me to not have them in my system when I came in. I stay in both Va and NC

I temperd of methadon down to 5mg. But i never got on a higher dose than 60mg and was only on it for 1,5 year. I temperd for 2 months and my withdrawl was real easy.

You can PM my if you want.

Was up to 120MG a year ago and am now down to 20mg, feeling OK, but wondering if anyone else has ever gotten down to 2.5mg and walked?
I walked at 9 mgs., 2 years ago. My plan at the clinic was to taper from 60 mgs., down 2 mgs. per week and jump off at a lower dose but it didn't work out that way. So, jumping off at 9 mgs. was hell for 33 days. Yea, I counted the days alright! There were alot of aches and pains, especially RLS. The PAWS came later but I dealt with it all.
If you can jump at 2 mgs. then do it. You will never know unless you try and my god, you will feel GREAT for accomplishing it!:) GOOD LUCK!

These little meth/bupe programs are just the govertments way to sell drugs. Your still dependent on a drug its just legal

sorry man/woman, bupe withdrawls are fucking awful. Im in WD from 32 mgs a day for over a year, and it is harder than kicking a 400 dollar a day heroin+fentanyl+methadone+xanax habit. people react differently to drugs.

^^^you were on 32 mg/day bupe for a year and you cold-turkeyed off it??? are you crazy, dude? you are supposed to taper nice and slow till you are on 0.125- 0.25 mg/day - hopefully to mild w/d. didn't work for me, but it's a nice theory.

for me bupe w/d were between oxy and hydro w/d in intensity except that it lasts and lasts forever (yeah, the acute shit), till i gave up and went back on short-acting stuff. then there are months of PAWS. fucking bupe.

Poppy pods helped me get off methadone

so glad i dont have to get up every damn morining and go there for my drink fucck that
