jake99, I dunno bugger all about your history . . . I'm only going on what I've read on this thread as a newbie . . . but Suboxone is Buprenorphine by another name, innit?
Methadone is
meant to have a shorter half-life than Buprenorphine, so I can see where you're coming from, and
do ignore the LOL earlier, cos if you have any kind of opiate habit worth speaking of a weeks worth of methadone ain't gonna make your rip any worse than it would otherwise have been, but I wouldn't use it for long. In my experience it's more addicting, and
much harder to come off than Heroin. It's main use is maintenance precisely because when compared to H it has a relatively long half-life, so if you're looking to do a rapid detox I'd try other options first.
Isnt the idea to just take it for about a week so that the dope sickness can get past and then there wont be much sicknesss from the M-done since i didint use it long
No. You're just swapping. You'll not even go into
real withdrawal until you eliminate opiates from your system altogether, and when the methadone runs out it will be there every bit as strong as it would have been before you started with it. If you're looking to do a rapid detox, and get properly clean fast, forget tapering methadone. You'd be better off tapering what you're on, in my experience? I'd suggest DF118s / Dihydrocodeine are about as strong a substitute as you really wanna get, and reduce dosing on them as fast as you can stand over no more than a week, but even they will prolong the withdrawal ( though it will be more bearable, and you might even sleep from time to time, admittedly.

) My best results were with even weaker 30mg Codeine Phosphate tabs, which seemed to alleviate the very worst symptoms, and made them reasonably bearable. Even after a 7 year intravenous habit I was relatively pain free by the 4th-5th day on them. It still took me a good few attempts, and sleeping came much, much later.
