Opioids Kicked The Oxy addiction, but want to use responsibly?

yeah, you should stay the hell away. That was a bad habit, even worse if it was iv. Even if a person could get half of that prescribed at 3 80's a day, having to buy another 3 would break most banks after a few months.

Also think of your body, thats alot of poison to put in the body.

Do you have a relapse plan. Strategies made to not use when put in dangerous situations. Find your triggers and cues wheather it be money, negative emotions, social, certain places, certain things. This is why when in the process of cleaning up, one should reflect and look closely at their addiction, get to know it, learn how it works to manipulate you, how you manipulate yourself, and have a battle strategy. Thats where many fail, they came prepared for a battle and not a war. Its 4 life. Everyday, all day, all days. Which is why so few win.

Have a plan for everything. Dont throw away your life for a stupid fucking pill, live it!

yep, it's simply not sustainable. I quit for 21 days back in March and told myself I was done forever.. then somebody offered me some morphine while drunk at 3am.. and I was like sure, whatever, I'll just do it now and maybe once a month or something. now here it is, end of July and my tolerance is higher than ever.

the want to, the drug-seeking behavior is the hardest part of my addiction. I can quit for a while and get over my wd's.. I do this 2 or 3 times a month.. but I always want to just let go, to just feel that feeling. and it ends up happening. and I end up more and more broke, with a higher and higher tolerance..

don't do it, man.

if you were to want to continue to use oxy "responsably" i would wait at least 6 months after your withdrawl (this way you will be able to enjoy an oxy 20 by itself) and not use more than once a week TOPS, maybe even make it once every 2 weeks... the moment you start using twice a week your'e bound to fall back into addiction

Yeah I enjoyed it up until I got addicted.. I had a crooked DR who perscribed me w/e and someone who faked cancer got fetnayl quit and gave it to me..

Like I said I'm not sure if its my withdrawl or what telling me..

The person who said what ever caused the addiction needs to be cleared up.. It was stress from the job as a firefighter... Stress from the gf wanting a house and i have to pay for her college and car.. It's life in general I'm still new to it im young it just grw on me.. I loved the feeling my stresses went away. I was chill.. Then having to go out to my car to swallow a pill so i could do my job got to much..

I quit and I couldent be happyer, but Id like my escape once in a while, once a week.. Now I cut off the DR completely and there more expensive to get.

Could I buy one off the street once in a while? do you think a 40 would do anything anymore even? It's been a week and 3 days today...

I wonder if my mind is just calling me back into the vice and i sniff that pill and im back to sqaure one.. It's just like how people enjoy smoking weed to escape reality for a little bit.. I enjoy sniffing pills.. I know if i could quit cold turkey I could use responsibly.. It just takes a want or need.

Maybe 5% of addicts can *ever* go back to successful chipping but nearly all addicts believe they are in that group.

Your mind will use anything to trick you into using again and trick you into continued use. If the cravings are still there, you need to find other ways to handle them. Finding a good counselor who can help you navigate this process would be a great idea.

Also, a week out, your tolerance is the same as high asd it ever was. Months of total abstinence are the only way it'll drop appreciably.

i'm definitely not a model for complete abstinence or anything, but i have found one thing that helps me is to try to separate the thoughts that drugs are totally responsible for from the others. like if i have a random thought pop into my head that i should put off paying the mortgage for a week and use that money to buy drugs or that i should do another 80 even though i know i'll probably ultimately be disappointed with the effects and wish i had saved it, i try to analyze it rationally, and determine whether that thought would make any sense if my mind was not being influenced by a substance. when i can recognize certain impulses and thoughts as being solely the result of substance abuse (i.e. the drug making my mind think a certain way it would not otherwise), i find it easier to ignore those impulses or resist them to a greater extent. not sure if that made any sense- i guess basically if i can recognize and separate the "drug thoughts" from my rational thoughts, it's easier for me to resist the temptation

^great advice.

Rationalizations can be so effective because so often people don't recognize them as such. Unless you recognize them as 'drug thoughts' you can't even begin to deal with them.

Sounds great slow down and think rationally..

And like I said if ANYONE needs help or advice feel free to message me or anything.. I know its hard just gotta tough it out..

I have my life back and im happy its just i misss the escape of my stress.. Firefighter seeing a dead person or worrying about paying the bills.. It happens to the best of us and gets us in that vice..

I've choosen to be opiate free rather then go back anytime soon and if i do go back it will be closely monitored..

One question though, I fell on my back in a fire through a roof thats how i was percribed 80's it was that bad off the bat... well no i take that bake she wrote me a script for 40's first one a day then told me to go to 80's

If i do get hurt again would i be addicted again if i NEED one? say as soon as tommarow or as late as 3-6 months?

Roush, If you were doing 80's a 40 would be a disappoitment. I tried this when I was trying to quit and it made things worse. Then I started thinking....well that 40 didn't really do much for me I would have been better off if I would have spent more money and got the 80. Then you go out and try to score an 80 and thats all you think about. Have you considered how you would deal with going "in and out" of withdrawl if you are doing to do these a few days a week? You will be going through withdrawl the other days and it will give you no choice but to keep buying more. REMEMBER how bad those withdrawls are.........
I personally, would not have been able to cut off that doctor, I would have still got them from him, and sold them for extra money instead of taking them. It is just a vicious circle.

In my experience it is impossible to use once or twice a week when you've been addicted. Your mind makes excuses for you to make more. "Every other day is fine, I won't get addicted and it isn't ruining my life." Something bad happens that day:"Fuck it i deserve another pill, I don't care" Before you know it everyday. It would take a very strong person to use once a week after an addiction like that. But I have respect for you for cold turkeying a dose that high. Im working on benzo withdrawal now myself, not fun :/

I think I know some people who know better than to use again, because they know they would go overboard with it. But they are very few compared to people who think they have more self control than they really do, you are right.

yeah, regardless of the drug involved, it's pretty much every addict's dream to be able to return to responsible use. generally, once they have passed a certain point of addiction, it's not realistic

not saying it can't be done, but it is very rare

^right.

Then the ones who do have any success keeping it to once a week start thinking, "well, I've been so good with once a week, I can go twice this once."

Then...

"I had no problem last time so I can do it again"

Then...

"Well, its my mates 21st so we're going to have a little fun this once"

Then...

Boom, right back to where they started and thinking, "I was doing so good with it! Wtf happened?!?"

Amen to that man!!

I find, for me personally, my tolerance takes weeks to go down even a little. But everyone is different. I am going to go with what everyone else has been saying and tell you...it is better you stay away. At least for a few months. But it is unlikely you will ever be able to handle "recreational" use again. I have seen a few people do it, but only usually after a very bad experience that made them quite and they stayed clean for awhile before going back.

I have been addicted to opiates and quit several times and every time I go back I am thinking the same things you have stated. I can just do a little every now and again to escape. But I can't.

I was addicted to K-4's (15 years ago) and have managed to use opiates without a repeat ever since. So it can be done. But it is WAY to soon. As someone said, give it at least six months and then only VERY occasionally. Not at all is safer of course. I've been lucky, but I've seen many who weren't.
